or you know you could just pick up a "XBOX ONE" or "PLAY STATION 4" they play DVDs from any country and also you get a gaming console so it's like two in one.
i know your joking but if you do get Lego Dimensions update every thing!!! or the game will be more broken then rose's heart in doomsday, because i had it on xbox 360 and i loved it until year 2 sets came out and the game just went to hell with how broken it was. i have entire videos of pure rage about that game, but i think it works on the Xbox one and ps4.
I was able to fill in the gaps of my collection a couple of years ago. A man came into where I work (a used DVD store) and sold his entire Doctor Who collection to me for $60. He had a ton of classic DVDs as well as the new series season sets all in perfect condition. I sold the duplicates of what I already had and used the money to complete my collection. I feel very fortunate now that so much is out of print. And to think the reason he sold them to me in the first place was because on a previous visit to my store we both agreed that Jon Pertwee was our favorite doctor. He saw me as a kindred spirit. LOL
Near where I live they sometimes used to have Doctor Who DVDS in ASDA and the price of them was usually £13.97,but they only had them on sale as long as they stayed in the DVD charts. As soon as they dropped out of the charts, they were taken off the shelves.
Wow! That's not a bad price, but I guess you had to get them as soon as possible! I don't recall ever seeing an ASDA, but it might be more of a regional thing!
Really! That's so cool. The heads, logos, text, and anything else on the region 1 spines never matches up. I'd love to arrange the collection so that the heads go from lowest to highest. That's if I don't have anything to do for 20 hours. Haha. I'd love it if the bindings made a picture! That'd be so cool!
It's sad that there are many good stories that are rare. I'm from region 1, so it's hard to collect all of the good stories. This is a video that I've been waiting for a long time. Great job!
Thanks Garrett! I'm so glad this video was one you've been looking forward to! I hope it's helped! Are there any rare stories in particular that you're looking forward to getting the most?
The Doctor Who Guide Here's my list: 1st Doctor: The Dalek Invasion of Earth, The Space Museum/ The Chase, The Time Meddler, and The War Machines. 2nd Doctor: The Invasion. 3rd Doctor: Terror of the Autons, Colony in Space, and Planet of The Spiders. 4th Doctor: Robot, Revenge of the Cybermen, Terror of the Zygons, The Hand of Fear, The Talons of Weng Chiang, The Invisible Enemy, City of Death, and The New Beginnings box set. 5th Doctor: Black Orchid, and Arc of Infinity. 6th Doctor: Attack of the Cybermen, The Mark of the Rani, The Two Doctors, and Revelation of the Daleks. 7th Doctor: Dragonfire, Battlefield, and The Curse of Fenric. Some are not on this list, because I either already own them, I don't want them, and/ or at the time of this comment, some rare DVDs are cheap on Amazon. And I'm looking for the special editions, too.
I actually love time flight my favourite bit is where he enters the Tardis when it's on it's back in the plane and he click a switch and it turns the gravity on I don't know why I love it I just do it
Haha! That's awesome! What a handy setting! I love his comment about airplanes being smaller on the inside! I also loved noticing Anthony Ainley in disguise and knowing before the doctor did! Haha.
Love the channel mate this reminds of the period of loads of doctor who vhs releases were no longer available in the uk in the 90’s. Hand of fear was out for a very short period. Remember buying a few doctor who vhs releases in New York when visiting because they were impossible to get in the uk. eBay wasn’t about then 🤣🤣🤣
Wow....thank you so much for taking time out to research and do this video, that was fascinating! I had no idea so many R1 DVDs are out of print or going that way, so glad you've managed to track down most of them!! I'll keep my eye out for a copy of The Web Planet for you but the chances are you'll probably find it before me!! I wonder if they'll ever do complete season box sets?...that's certainly something I'd love to see, although the Tom Baker set would be massive!! Anyway great video Alex as always!!!
Thanks! I loved your LFCC video, by the way! You got so many cool pictures and autographs! I'm so glad you found this video helpful and informative! It was a big one to work on, so I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for The Web Planet, but I appreciate any extra help! I really hope that they'll do season-long box sets. I want to buy the German 6th and 7th doctor ones just to support that and send the BBC a message that we want this! The Tom Baker set would be amazingly large! Thanks again for the comments and congratulations on nearing 2,000! You're content is so good, I'm glad more people are subscribing to see it in the future! :D
I have been a Doctor Who fan ever since for most of my adult life (I'm currently 27 at the writing of this comment). Back in the late autumn of 2001 I was being a bad kid by staying up well past my bedtime and channel surfing when I happened upon my local (Iowa) IPTV station and was startled by the sight of a sailing ship flying in space, which later turned out to be from 'Enlightenment' (for those who don't know it already). From then on I was hooked for life. Since I was still just a kid I didn't have any money to go out and buy these classic stories so I was just content to just watch them every Saturday at 11:30p.m. That all changed one day in 2006 when my family went to our local Best Buy for Christmas shopping and where I stumbled upon two Doctor Who stories: 'City of Death' & 'Ghost Light'. After a lot of begging (I'm not ashamed to say) my mom bought me 'City of Death' and that started what was to turn into a 12 year quest of nail-biting anxiety and spending a great deal of money. As of November of this year my Doctor Who library is finally complete, but the most ironic part of it all has to be that the last story I acquired had been the second half of my original choice all those years ago. The journey often proved a long and treacherous one at times but would I do it all again? My answer; "Would you like a jelly baby?" ;-)
Nice catch Jack! That's such a good deal! It's about 5% of the US asking price out there! I think I got it from the warner bros. site for around $35-40.
I had no idea there were quite so many R1 dvds out of print, and no rhyme or reason for which ones are available or not. The prices these rare dvds cost are reminiscent of the early days of the VHS range over here, when they were £30-40 a shot, which is around £100 of today's money. Makes me glad I'm in R1. I have a friend who keeps sending me endless copies of Genesis of the Daleks as a running joke, that would never happen if they cost as much as these rare ones do.
Haha. That's awesome that he sends you Genesis of the Daleks. What's the story behind the joke? (If you don't mind my asking) That's crazy that the VHSes were so expensive! I remember collecting them for a penny on amazon plus $3.99 shipping! Haha.
It's hard to explain how it came about, really, it started with him getting his own single release copies of Genesis and Revelation, and saying he regretted that because he wanted the Davros boxset, and didn't want to have two copies. I told him that I'd happily take Revelation off his hands if he got that set, because I didn't have that story. Fast forward to this time last year, he finally got the davros set, and he announces that I'll get his old copy of revelation for christmas, along with a variety of other things he had superfluous duplicates of. Turned out that included his single release copy of Genesis. After that I frequently brought up the fact that I now have way to many copies of Genesis, since I have my own copy, his one, and the VHS, and since he likes to keep going once he's found a running thing like that, he got me another copy for my birthday, although this one came with the somewhat rare O-ring slipcase. He's said that I'm getting a copy of Genesis every birthday and christmas from now on, so I'm having to set up a special corner of my shelf just for that one story.
Sadly, I only got into Doctor Who around 2015, so many DVDs were already out of print then. The ones I have are the Dalek Invasion of Earth, The War Machines, Robot, Genesis of the Daleks, the New Beginnings Boxset, and Resurrection of the Daleks Special Edition. The ones I would like to get the most are the War Games, the Invasion, the Space Museum and the Chase, the Rescue and the Romans, the Ambassadors of Death, Terror of the Autons, the Mind of Evil, Day of the Daleks, Planet of the Spiders, Revenge of the Cybermen, Terror of the Zygons, the Talons of Weng-Chiang, Horror of Fang Rock, City of Death, Earthshock, the Black Guardian Trilogy, Attack of the Cybermen, the Two Doctors, Revelation of the Daleks, the Happiness Patrol, Battlefield, Ghost Light, and the Curse of Fenric.
Wow! I'm glad that you got into Doctor Who! I'm sad that there are so many rare DVDs, though! I wish it were easier for you! Congrats on getting those rare ones already! I hope that this video will help you know what ones to look out for and different ways to watch or collect the classic episodes in the meantime! Thanks for the comment!
Do you happen to have a full list of all classic doctor episodes? I'm watching trough the whole old series and it is getting hard to know what the next storys name is...
Yes! You can download this spreadsheet with a list of all of the episodes for free here: bit.ly/2vB4ZzU There's also a list here of all the DVDs for America and Canada, and for the UK, bit.ly/2wuIzgU. Let me know if they work! I also have several videos where I attempt to list the first four doctors episodes under penalty of exercise: bit.ly/2vBaBtM
Yay! I'm glad I could make this one! It's been an idea for a while now! I'm so grateful that I'm able to show all but one of the DVDs mentioned today! I'll find that Web Planet eventually! Haha.
I take great relief out of the fact that I managed to get most of my collection from Amazon before they went out of print. And the few that I couldn't get, I snapped off eBay for reasonably decent prices. That being said, I think it's a shame that so many have gone out of print, and wish that they'd get reissues of some form or another in Region 1. Especially The War Games, as that's kind of an important one.
Nice video Amigo! Just subscribed to your channel as a fellow Dr. Who DVD collector! I have a region free player and have gotten some region 2 DVD’s to fill the gaps in my collection, good prices and the dvd quality is better than some of my region 1 DVD’s. Looking forward to more of your vids and collecting tips! Thanks for the time, and effort you put into you’re vids for all collectors 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you, very much! Always glad to help out and meet another DVD enthusiast! I'm definitely considering getting a region-free DVD player, but I'm also afraid I'd be too tempted to start collecting all of the classic series on Region 2 DVDs! Haha. It'd certainly be cheaper than trying to find these rare DVDs! I'm glad to know you're collection is benefitting so much from the Region 2 DVDs. I love that so many of them have reversible covers and booklets! Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave an encouraging comment! :D
The Doctor Who Guide Your welcome my friend! I know what you mean, I love the region 2 copies and I’m starting to feel the need to get them all. However, I have a complete Dr. Who DVD collection with some exceptions. I need to get 5 special editions, I have the regulars that’s excluding the one you announced today on the latest vid, and I need region 1 DVDs for the 12 region 2 DVDs I have. That will be slow because first I’m trying to get All New Who on Blu ray. I also have started getting some audio adventures. I have the original audio soundtracks for Patrick Troughton’s The Faceless Ones and Abominable Snowmen; got lucky on eBay! I want to get some affordable Eighth Doctor adventures also. The fun of collecting Dr. Who! Keep up the great vids and I’ll use your amazon link for all things Who👍🏼
Thanks so much, Tgushiniere! Using those links is a big help! I'll probably break down and collect the audios for the missing episodes on Itunes as they're way cheaper than the physical BBC CDs, although that's awesome that you got deals on two of them! I LOVE the 8th doctor adventures and I highly recommend them! You can get the downloads of the first season of EDA's for $1 each as part of the 99for99 sale going on now at big finish. If you click on this link and type in the code "redballoons" you'll be able to access them at those prices. No CDs, but you could listen to them cheaply and decide if you want the CD later. Just a thought that might help you! :D
Yay!! Another Timeflight fan! I would LOVE to play Adric in Black Orchid as I'd get to eat and eat and eat! Haha. That'd be fun! In all seriousness, I do enjoy Black Orchid! It's cool that Sarah Sutton got to play two parts! :D
A handful of my DVDs I got before they became rare. Dalek Invasion of Earth, Genesis of the Daleks and Revenge of the Cybermen and The War Machines are my rare guys. I bought Dalek Invasion, Genesis and War Machines on Amazon when they were still available. Revenge of the Cybermen, however, I got when I discovered it in my local Barnes and Noble in mid 2015. Definitely glad I got it considering it's rare now.
It's so sad! But I'm glad that there are alternatives, and at least people can watch them now with Britbox. Before there wasn't any way to even watch them short of Itunes and VHSes.
Most of the DVDs you listed have been re-released in 2019, so I AM *PRAYING* that they're going to re-release 'The War Games' and 'The Dalek Invasion Of Earth'. 'The Two Doctors' would be nice, along with 'City of Death' and a few others as well. You listed 62 DVDs and the BBC said their re-releasing 63, which includes 'The End of Time' (10th Anniversary), so I *reaaaaaaalllly* hope this means that every single episode you listed (including the stories I mentioned above) will be in their list. I can't wait!
Seen most of these in jbhifi in Australia for like a quarter of the prices he mention but yeah 50 stories so a lot of not so rare dvds. But holy crap American dr who dvds seem so much more expensive
@@TheDoctorWhoGuide Keep up the fun videos. I have been collecting at least since the 1990s, and I had a nearly complete VHS tape collection. I think almost all of my VHS went into the trash to please my wife. After we no longer had a VHS player and nobody seemed to want VHS any longer, I agreed to let go after a few years of her prodding and my adjusting mentally to the idea. I just got them as they came out as far as the DVDs are concerned. It cost a fortune in Canadian dollars but got much simpler when Amazon came along. Even more so once people outside the USA got their own Amazon sites. When the new Doctor Who came in 2005, you got to buy whole seasons for $90 canadian IIRC innstead of $40 Canadian per story. Now, Amazon has seasons 1 to 10 for $130 Canadian or you can buy the new show in 2-4 season bunches in three sets for $30 or less each. Imagine $10 a season instead of $40 per story. I always said that Doctor Who should be sold by the season like everything else. Part of why the first season of Tom Baker got rare is because it was released as a single season set on Blu-Ray. This was followed by the first season of Peter Davison, arguably the show's lowest point. If they do one season a year, it will take 26 years to get the original show out on Blu-Ray, by which time Blu-Rays will be the equivalent of VHS. I think the Hartnell is rare because of low sales. The Gunfighters is a must see due to the atrocious fake American accents, an act of fitting revenge for decades of terrible British accents Americans delight in.
well there are currently 6 seasons out on dvd 10 12 18 19 one from 6th one from 7th, almost the entire 3rd season(1st doctor) is missing, so that leaves only 19 seasons to get through, hopefully they can speed it up a bit!!
I've been a fan of "who" since early 2010 I only really started purchasing classic DVDs regularly around 2 years ago I don't have a credit card so I must purchase all DVDs from stores (usually paying full price ) this unfortunately means I have only a small selection of different titles (they also rarely have DVDs from 1980 onwards and recently one of the shops has stopped stocking the DVDs) I've managed to get 11 of these and I think even those who usually purchase online should visit local stores occasionally just so you know what is there I got 4 DVDs Planet of giants The war machines Revenge of the cybermen Talons of wieng chiang (SE) By simply seeing that they were going for ridiculous prices online and quickly visiting my local shops to purchase a copy before anyone else does This has worked for me 80% of the time (someone took my local stores copy of the space museum/the chase before I could)
Nice deals! That's great advice to check out what your local stores may have! I know I've emptied out many a Barnes and Noble 50% off British TV sale! I even got told in advance about one sale because the manager saw me organizing the DVDs! Thanks for the advice! Good luck with your collecting! :D
Hey! I enjoy Time Flight! lol Loved this video Alex! There are many great suggestions on where to look for rare DW dvds. My suggestion is to go to ebay.com and search through the stores of various Goodwill locations. Many times they have great prices on DW dvds and will also have best offers available where you could get your needed story for even less than they're asking. I'm sure you will find The Web Planet sooner or later! Chin up camper!
Thanks John! Your advice is top-notch and encouraging! I'm glad you also enjoy Time-flight! I see quite a few Time-Flight fans here, so that's awesome! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video and I look forward to your comments in future!
John Fischer Oooh yes Goodwill👌 I can be pretty frugal (*cough cough* cheap) and I always go in those places with a keen eye out for DW or other good DVDs or CDs... Not really had any luck yet but it's fun anyhow! 😂☺
Question: Is the Beginning box set worth it? I like having DVDs in their own slipcase, but does it have the Marco Polo re-construction, does it have other bonus features?
Hi BHH! I assume you're asking if getting the older Region 1 Beginning Box Set with two dvds and a slip case is worth it as compared to the newer one-dvd set? Having the stories in their separate cases is very cool. You get An Unearthly Child on it's own, and The Daleks and The Edge of Destruction are together on the second DVD. I was surprised to see that the bonus features are almost identical on both releases even though they are 6 years apart. The older box set does say that it has the condensed Marco Polo reconstruction, and everything else that the newer set has, except for a Masters of Sound bonus feature and PDF Materials. Otherwise, commentary, photo gallery, production notes, The Pilot Episode, Creation of the Daleks, Over the Edge, Inside The Spaceship, Doctor Who: Origins, and The Edge of Destruction Episode 2 Arabic Soundtrack are all on both.
The UK DVDs aren't rare at all. I only spent about £300 to complete my collection. How much have you spent on yours? I'm surprised that lots of the rare ones you mentioned aren't very old. The Sensorites only came out in 2012
I know right? I can understand why some older normal editions are rare or more expensive than normal, but new ones? Why? Anyway, I wish I had spent what you did on DVDs! Last I calculated it I buy DVDs for an average of $14 dollars or 10 pounds each, but that's with patience and sales. Thanks to John Fischer giving me so many that average has gone down, but I'd estimate that I've spent close to $2,000 or 1,545 pounds total on my classic series collection alone. I know, crazy! It also took a long time. Haha.
I know right? I'm so glad I was able to show all but one of the DVDs that I was talking about. I definitely am moving on to collecting the audios, but I'm afraid I'm too cheap to buy the CDs. Haha. I wouldn't turn them down, but I'm still to cheap to buy them. My goal is to eventually design DVD covers and burn the audios so I could arrange the Big Finish stories in chronological order! That'd be awesome!
I actually have all of these and am in the process of tracking down the lost stories. All the available stories are available on ebay, averaging about 20aus/15us each! You can also buy a multi region blu ray for about 90aus/75 us WELL worth it!
You're not alone! I LOVE it! I love the harmonica, and the ending gets me every time! It's funny and bizarre. The Kandyman is pure joy to watch! I'd love to cosplay the Kandyman or see the Kandyman cosplayed at a convention! Carry around some lemonade.
The Doctor Who Guide. for me it is probably just because it was the first 7th doctor story I saw. I even skipped over dragonfire bc it sounded like the coolest story in the box set
Yes! That is probably the way I'd suggest new collectors go. Get a way to play Region 2 DVDs, (all-region dvd player, x-box one, laptop) and buy them cheap and in bulk to save on shipping! Congrats on hitting 700! I've probably said that before, but I'll say it again! Well done!
This is heartbreaking. I'm fortunate enough to be in R2, and have a complete collection - but I much prefer the R1 covers. Also - I LOVE Time-Flight. I do not get the hate for it at all.
It's so sad for R1 fans, but I'm so glad you're in R2! Congrats on the complete collection! That must be SO cool! I'm very close to that! Yay! I'm glad you're another Time-Flight fan! That's so cool! There are so many of us in the comments! :D
I love the list below, currently the only episode I have that is out of print is the gunfighters, the ark in space NE, resurrection of the daleks NE, and Remembrance of the daleks NE. To me the reason I don't get a region free DVD player is that I don't like how out of place a R2 DVD is in my R1 collection. Here is my current listing with the current prices on amazon. The sensorites $75 Planet of the giants $25 The dalek invasion of earth $51 The rescue/the romans $45 The web planet $250 The space museum/the chase $100 The time meddler $75 The gunfighters $50 The war machines $40 The invasion $70 The krotons $41 The war games $100 The ambassadors of death $60 Inferno $22 Terror of the autons $47 The mind of evil $120 Colony in space $71 Day of the daleks $80 Time monster $50 Monster of peladon $60 Planet of the spiders $300 Robot $60 Genesis of the daleks $46 Revenge of the cybermen $81 Terror of the zygons $49 Planet of evil $45 Pyramids of mars $33 The hand of fear $49 Face of evil $50 The talons of weng chiang $100 Horror of fang rock $95 The invisible enemy $60 Image of the fendahl $60 Underworld $85 The invasion of time $100 City of death $85 Nightmare of eden $60 The horns of nimon $90 The leisure hive $42 New beginnings box set $88 The keeper of traken $50 Logopolis $15 Castrovalva $20 Black orchid $37 Earth shock $50 Time flight $20 Arc of infinity $60 Black guardian trilogy $120 The awakening $33 Frontios $20 Planet of fire $21 Attack of the cybermen $40 Mark of the rani $85 The two doctors $185 Revelation of the daleks $45 Paradise towers $27 Dragonfire $37 The happiness patrol $91 The greatest show in the galaxy $24 Battlefield $70 Ghost light $120 The curse of fenric $60 Doctor who the movie $24
Ryan that is an amazing list! Thank you for compiling this! I'm sure people will find it helpful! I agree that it's very enjoyable to go for a complete Region 1 collection. I'm glad there are other ways to at least watch the episodes while you continue your hunt for rare dvds! Which stories do you want most? Thanks for the list again! :D
The Doctor Who Guide I currently want to see Robot, Genesis of the Daleks, and Revenge of the Cybermen as I have the other two episodes of season 12 and I want to know how it began and ended.
You told me to comment so I might as well, I have a soft spot for Time Flight. I think the opening moments with Nyssa and Tegan in the TARDIS are good and the story is goofy fun, it’s not good but it’s fun.
Haha. Yes! The spines are more fun, and so are the German 6th and 7th doctor box sets! Don't tempt me, though! I do prefer the region 1 full artwork, but it's not worth the difference in price, that's for sure! :D
'Tis such a shame to see all the stories slipping away...! I definitely do keep an eye out for anything I can get a deal on (heck. I live in the US. I keep an eye out for anything Doctor Who related AT ALL...😂) but it's not too fun to think so many titles will be that much harder to find... On a happier note; cheers for taking the time to put together such a nice informative video! It's good to have an up to date idea of where we stand on DVD availability here...😊
Thank you Sarah! I definitely get what you're talking about! Finding anything Doctor Who is something special! I'm glad that you found this video helpful! I looked through almost all of the DVDs to get a current look at the prices, so I'm glad that you noticed the up-to-date research! I appreciate it! :D
Interesting video sir very helpfull for your fellow american dr who fans , im glad i live in the uk classic episodes are easier to pick up from amazon or hmv, big thumbs up from wales.
That’s crazy Web Planet dvd was selling for crazy prices like 5 yrs ago I picked it up in 2021 for $13 lol also now that the collection sets have been coming out the DVDs came way down in price. I had about 20-30 DW DVDs then I completed my collection during the pandemic 2020-2022. The only one I over payed for was The War Games. In 2023 it still sells for $100+
@TheDoctorWhoGuide, I wrote down each and every DVD you listed, double and triple checked to make sure- you said 62 but there are actually 61. Just to let you know!
Feels like a total turn around from back in the day of VHS when titles went out of print in the UK but you could get them from the States. You should search on the make and model of your DVD player as it may be remote hack-able for multi region playback and with today's flat screen Tv's you don't have the added barrier of PAL or NTSC. Pity the original Key to Time box set didn't make the list as that's the only Region 1 Doctor Who DVD I have, it was recommended to me at the time by a member of the Restoration team but the UK one that eventually came out wipes the floor with it and I could have cashed in.
It took me years, but I ordered all available region 2 DVDs from Amazon UK. Besides getting all the episodes whether they were released in the US or not, I saved money getting many DVDs for 5 pounds a pop. Buying in bulk, 10 DVDs at a time, saves money on shipping discs one at a time. Even today, note that Shada 2017 edition still has a long wait for the US version to be released. UK version was released a couple months ago. Darned if the (Global Express?) shipping option doesn't get discs to me in less than 5 days from the UK to the US if I want the DVD badly enough! Research on region free DVD players is highly recommended. ...Also, NICE US Doctor Who DVD collection there. Even region 2 DVDs can go rare. I believe I needed to go hunting for a Tomb of the Cybermen Special Edition from the UK. In the meantime, that one was easier to find from the US! I suppose I should note there are some UK DVDs that cut differently from the US versions. Region 2 of The Chase has the Beetles left intact. That's probably the biggest change. ANyway... out.
Thanks, so much, Chris! I appreciate your input! I think the cheapest way to collect is probably to collect a combination of the Region 1 and 2 DVDs. Your advice about bulk ordering is very helpful. I was pleasantly surprised at the costs of shipping when I looked into collecting the Region 2 DVDs. They weren't as bad as I thought that they would be. Do you know how long in total it took you to collect the UK DVDs? I think it's taken me 9 years to complete my US collection. Will you be taking advantage of the new Blu-ray box sets scheduled to come out starting with Season 12 in June?
The Doctor Who Guide. I'll take a look at my order history for an exact answer. I'm guessing I've been collecting the UK DVDs for over 5 years. ... It will be the added features or lack of them that get me to buy the Blu Rays. I'll probably pick up the first set regardless.
It turns out the first Doctor Who, region 2 PAL, DVD I bought was Doctor Who - The Movie. 10 years ago. I remember feeling disappointed that I had completely missed that Fox had sponsored new Doctor Who. At the time, the only way to see the movie was to buy it from over seas. It probably took more along the lines of a month to arrive. Today its probably two weeks, tops. Though it wasn't exactly hard to find a region free DVD player, the bigger problem was getting one that could output PAL to an NTSC TV. (Not a big deal today when Amazon sells region free DVD players for $50.) A friend of mine got a properly modified DVD player first to watch the RTD 2005 new Doctor Who. Thankfully, the BBC seemed to come around to the idea that maybe they should release new Doctor Who, after years, in the US around the same time as it was released in the UK! Great idea! My second listed PAL DVD purchase? Star Cops - The Complete Series. Must have seen it and felt my shopping "basket" couldn't leave without it.
What looks like the same edition of Star Cops is available on Amazon UK right now. (It isn't cheap, but I payed more for it.) Chris Boucher explains, of all things, his motivations for writing important characters in Blakes 7 on the Star Cops DVD. I'll also recommend highly Life on Mars, UK version, Staring John Simm. Looks like a UK DVD buyer's market if you ask me.
I happen to have every dvd you mention of course I bought them all many years ago. The only two I don't have (which are unwatchable by me) are Horror of Fang Rock , the doctor and Leela get trapped in a lighthouse for 4 episodes (What Fun!) The Two Doctors The 2nd Doctor gets turned into a cannibal I happen to have every dvd you mention of course I bought them all many years ago. The only two I don't have (which are unwatchable by me) are Horror of Fang Rock , the doctor and Leela get trapped in a lighthouse for 4 episodes (What Fun!) The Two Doctors, The 2nd Doctor gets turned into a cannibal so he can help shockeye eat people (?????)
Marvellous video as always! :D Ias much as I live in the UK some of our DVDs are going for £10 which is quite a lot now! another website to watch DW on dailymotion I do own The Beginning box set which is a great box set, the sensorites, planet of giants, the dalek invasion of earth, rescue and the Romans, the web planet, the space museum and the chase, the time meddler, the gunfighters, the war machines, the invasion, the krotons, seeds of death and my favourite story the war games, sadly ambassadors of death is rare underrated classic, the mind of evil, claws of axos, colony in space, day of the Daleks, the time monster, the three doctors (i could go on FOREVER!!) and planet of the spiders, robot, genesis of the Daleks, revenge of the cybermen, terror of the zygons, planet of evil, pyramids of Mars, the hand of fear, the face of evil, the talons of Weng-Chiang Chiang, horror of fang rock, k9 tales, invasion of time, city of death, nightmare of Eden, keeper of Traken, black orchid, earthshock, time flight which i give an 8/10!!!!!!!!, arc of infinity, the five doctors, the awakening, frontios, resurrection of the Daleks, don't own planet of fire 😨, attack of the cybermen, don't own mark of the Rani, the two doctors, nor happiness patrol, battlefield, just got ghost light and immediately got it signed by Sylvester McCoy it's so good, could you do a review on it? and finally curse of Fenric! yeah that wasn't a long comment was it? :D
Thanks for the comment IB Productions! Long comments are welcome here! Congratulations on all those awesome DVDs! I'm sure you'll get Planet of Fire, mark of the Rani, the two doctors, and the happiness patrol soon! Congrats on Ghost Light and getting it signed by the wonderful, hilarious and awesome Sylvester McCoy! I will definitely consider doing a Ghost Light review, all though it's been a while since I watched it, so I might just start with watching it! Haha. I also love The Beginning Box set. I love me some Hartnell Era! Where did you meet Sylvester?
The Doctor Who Guide ha ha no problem! i actually met McCoy twice both at London Film and Comic Con and he's lovely, ghost light is incredibly complex and ingenious and I've read the target of it and the scripts so I believe it makes sense to me now. i got Sylvester to sign ghost light and the curse of Fenric as I couldn't decide which i preferred! :D
From JB HiFi over here I got The Visitation SE and The Keys of Marinus for Aust $ 5.60 each ... still new and sealed (Region4 PAL) Also picked up the Season 12 BluRay collection at the 20% off sale.
I had no idea the black guardian trilogy was rare! this video came out in september 2017, i got it for christmas 2017, maybe my parents found a good deal on amazon or something, pyramids of mars was the first classic who dvd i got, my dad got it because its his favorite story, but unfortunately i only have the disc of it and the box it was in i have lost.
For people that live outside the Uk, i recommend ordering of www.dvd.co.uk/ because it apparently ships to elsewhere in the world and has a decent selection
I remember being offered to sell awakening years ago for well over 100 dollars if spit it out a lot I had listed on ebay. Declined and the lot ending up going for over 390 . Was 3 episodes Web Planet ,Mind of Evil and Awakening. I always hated awakening always put me to sleep.
NICE! Those are great stories! True classics! Earthshock is creepy with all those Cybermen marching about in the dark! Got to love Pyramids of Mars, too! Which is your favorite of the two?
They're both such good stories! Too bad Pyramid at the End of the World didn't make any references to Pyramids of Mars (at least that I spotted). Tom Baker and Sarah Jane are both so good in that story! I love the gif from this episode of them walking into a room, seeing a mummy, and walking out again without it seeing them! Haha. :D
Thanks Omega Productions! I'm honestly really glad that it's easy to get the DVDs in the UK! That's the way it should be! I'm also glad that you enjoy Time-flight! There's apparently a whole group of us! I love your profile picture as well! :D
Download the region free and PAL compatible VLC Media Player, import the much cheaper UK region 2 releases and watch them on your PC. Problem solved and loads of money saved.
It does seem strange, but the regions were unfortunately decided regardless of Doctor Who's origins. Region 1 unfortunately does have many rare ones, though.
That's a great question! It is coming, and I look forward to writing out the scripts and figuring out exactly what form it's going to take. I'd love to have creative and recurring weekly segments. I also know that I'm not going to be going in chronological order; it's going to be more timey-wimey! I'm also moving. So that's creating some filming conflicts. Hopefully soon! :D
or you know you could just pick up a "XBOX ONE" or "PLAY STATION 4" they play DVDs from any country and also you get a gaming console so it's like two in one.
Henry that's a brilliant suggestion! I don't have either, but it's a great excuse to get a gaming console! Lego Dimensions here I come! :D
i know your joking but if you do get Lego Dimensions update every thing!!! or the game will be more broken then rose's heart in doomsday, because i had it on xbox 360 and i loved it until year 2 sets came out and the game just went to hell with how broken it was. i have entire videos of pure rage about that game, but i think it works on the Xbox one and ps4.
Cool let me try my switch
What makes me feel better is that I actually have a few of these 😊
Yay! I'm glad you have some! Which ones? I was lucky in that I had about 1/2 to 2/3 of them by the time they started going rare!
Did you ever get "The Web Planet"?. I found it on Amazon and bought it for around $17
No! Good for you! That's why it's good to keep checking consistently! Well done!
Are you getting the Web Planet re-release coming out on the 20th???
You bet I am, John! I'm so excited! I've already pre-ordered it from Amazon! :D
A positive to the uk DVD is that if you take the time you can get the gray bit on the spine to all line up
Remember buying a few doctor who vhs releases in New York when visiting because they were impossible to get in the uk. eBay wasn’t about then 🤣🤣🤣
I am so happy im in Region 2. Feel sorry for Region 1. And imo Region 2 DW dvds look better
Definitely more stylish.
I managed to get Planet of the spiders for about £7.99 at CEX which sounds crazy now
Nice catch Jack!
He's said that I'm getting a copy of Genesis every birthday and christmas from now on, so I'm having to set up a special corner of my shelf just for that one story.
well at least he has taste!
Thank god I live in the uk and have cex a used DVD and game store and HMV so every episode is easy to find
I'm so glad for you! That's the way it should be! I wish we had HMV's in America that sold cheap Doctor Who DVDs! How big is your collection?
I also have several videos where I attempt to list the first four doctors episodes under penalty of exercise: bit.ly/2vBaBtM
thanks for the help i love your videos and i think i missed the sensorites for some reason
look up Dr Who wikipedia, it has a list of ALL the stories, in order you want the 63-89 list!
Yes! I has been waiting so long for this!
Yay! I'm glad I could make this one! It's been an idea for a while now! I'm so grateful that I'm able to show all but one of the DVDs mentioned today! I'll find that Web Planet eventually! Haha.
I'm SO GLAD the BBC decided to re-release rare Region 1 DVDs! I can't wait to get more!
I really enjoy Timeflight, and Black Orchid
Yay!! Another Timeflight fan! I would LOVE to play Adric in Black Orchid as I'd get to eat and eat and eat! Haha. That'd be fun! In all seriousness, I do enjoy Black Orchid! It's cool that Sarah Sutton got to play two parts! :D
The Doctor Who Guide Who wouldn't love Ainleys Master practically breaking the 4th wall!
It sucks they are out of print
It's so sad! But I'm glad that there are alternatives, and at least people can watch them now with Britbox. Before there wasn't any way to even watch them short of Itunes and VHSes.
The Doctor Who Guide True. I hope you get the missing DVD you need
You can still get the black guardian trilogy on the Barnes and Noble website. I just got it when they had 50% off all their British TV.
Time flight is my favourite classic episode I don't see how people do not like it
Most of the DVDs you listed have been re-released in 2019, so I AM *PRAYING* that they're going to re-release 'The War Games' and 'The Dalek Invasion Of Earth'. I can't wait!
theyre all out on ebay, averaging about 20aus its not THAT hard to get!
Seen most of these in jbhifi in Australia for like a quarter of the prices he mention but yeah 50 stories so a lot of not so rare dvds. But holy crap American dr who dvds seem so much more expensive
me too, have all of them as well! Why do Americans think they are the be all and end all and have to be so difficult?
I own them all. This video made me happy.
I'm so happy for you, Michael! How long have you been collecting? :D
Hi Alex on eBay Revelation of the Daleks is available with match price of $50 and less! No longer rare!
I'm so happy to hear that, Joe! I managed to get it before it went rare. Do you have it? :D
Sorry no I only saw it online and I didn't have a Fifty dollar eBay card 😕
I'm getting Genesis of the Daleks DVD..
Even though I am a very passionate fan of The Sixth Doctor...
I've been a fan of "who" since early 2010 I only really started purchasing classic DVDs regularly around 2 years ago I don't have a credit card so I must purchase all DVDs from stores (usually paying full price ) this unfortunately means I have only a small selection of different titles (they also rarely have DVDs from 1980 onwards and recently one of the shops has stopped stocking the DVDs)
I've managed to get 11 of these and I think even those who usually purchase online should visit local stores occasionally just so you know what is there I got 4 DVDs
Planet of giants
The war machines
Revenge of the cybermen
Talons of wieng chiang (SE)
By simply seeing that they were going for ridiculous prices online and quickly visiting my local shops to purchase a copy before anyone else does
This has worked for me 80% of the time (someone took my local stores copy of the space museum/the chase before I could)
Time flight is not bad actually so many of the new episodes looking at you Moffatt has done far worse
Hi Alex, i was searching in my house for doctor who dvds but i wasn't expecting to find the R1 City of Death, I didnt know it was rare until today!
I've Been away for a while but I'm back! I'm loving the new profile pic and banner.
Glad to have you back! I'm glad you like the new profile pic and banner! I'm really happy with how they turned out! Thanks for mentioning it! :D
I hope that helps!
Haha.
The Doctor Who Guide
You are lucky to only need the web planet. Then you should move on to collecting the audiobooks on actual CDs.
I am a fan of Time Flight. I shed a tear for that cool story
I actually have all of these and am in the process of tracking down the lost stories. All the available stories are available on ebay, averaging about 20aus/15us each! You can also buy a multi region blu ray for about 90aus/75 us WELL worth it!
at least I'm not alone in loving the happiness patrol
You're not alone! I LOVE it! I love the harmonica, and the ending gets me every time! It's funny and bizarre. The Kandyman is pure joy to watch! I'd love to cosplay the Kandyman or see the Kandyman cosplayed at a convention! Carry around some lemonade.
The Doctor Who Guide. for me it is probably just because it was the first 7th doctor story I saw. I even skipped over dragonfire bc it sounded like the coolest story in the box set
Great video, feel sorry for you as you can't get some of these doctor who stories. You could get a region free player and then import them.
Yes! That is probably the way I'd suggest new collectors go. Get a way to play Region 2 DVDs, (all-region dvd player, x-box one, laptop) and buy them cheap and in bulk to save on shipping! Congrats on hitting 700! I've probably said that before, but I'll say it again! Well done!
Thanks, congratulations on 500, your catching up with me
This is heartbreaking.
How do you like Arc of Infinity in that set?
Not a big fan of that one, to be honest. I really don't like the way Omega was used in it.
The sensorites $75
Planet of the giants $25
The dalek invasion of earth $51
The rescue/the romans $45
The web planet $250
The space museum/the chase $100
The time meddler $75
The gunfighters $50

Ryan that is an amazing list! Thank you for compiling this! I'm sure people will find it helpful! I agree that it's very enjoyable to go for a complete Region 1 collection. I'm glad there are other ways to at least watch the episodes while you continue your hunt for rare dvds! Which stories do you want most? Thanks for the list again! :D
The Doctor Who Guide I currently want to see Robot, Genesis of the Daleks, and Revenge of the Cybermen as I have the other two episodes of season 12 and I want to know how it began and ended.
Those are great stories! Season 12 as a whole is a really great series! :D
You told me to comment so I might as well, I have a soft spot for Time Flight. I think the opening moments with Nyssa and Tegan in the TARDIS are good and the story is goofy fun, it’s not good but it’s fun.
this is y if your a dr who fan in the us you should get an any reigon dvd player and get the r2 dvds plus the spines are more fun
Haha. Yes! The spines are more fun, and so are the German 6th and 7th doctor box sets! Don't tempt me, though! I do prefer the region 1 full artwork, but it's not worth the difference in price, that's for sure! :D
Breaking News Some Of Classic Doctor Who Episodes Is Back In Print On DVD Next Week From BBC Archives
The Doctor Who Guide Yup. Thank *you* 😆
i live in the uk, if your still missing web plant sure there a way i can mail it to you
Imagine not living in the UK where they are all on Amazon for £6.99
I know this video is oldish but i am getting into dr who collecting and this video was very helpful
I quite like time flight
I'm glad! You must've enjoyed Luke's opinion on it from the 2007 DVD Archives! I enjoyed spotting you-know-who as the villain in the story! :D (#429)
Interesting video sir very helpfull for your fellow american dr who fans , im glad i live in the uk classic episodes are easier to pick up from amazon or hmv, big thumbs up from wales.
Thanks Edward! I hope it will be helpful for the US fans! I'm so glad that you have easy and cheap access to the Dr. Who DVDs! That's really cool!
11:44 What was that Alex P!!!
lol 😸😹😸
~Who Crew!
I believe the three doctors special edition is going rare.
Thankfully I have it in my collection.
In the UK at the moment hmv are selling Dr who DVDs for £5:99. I got 6 story's last week for £36
It took me years, but I ordered all available region 2 DVDs from Amazon UK.
Can't you just buy them off Amazon UK? I know they have different covers, but...

How bout a uk list mate im from ku
Oh no the doctor who movie with Paul mcgann is rare too over $ $120.00 on amazon
From JB HiFi over here I got The Visitation SE and The Keys of Marinus for Aust $ 5.60 each ... still new and sealed (Region4 PAL) Also picked up the Season 12 BluRay collection at the 20% off sale.
6 years almost 7!!!!
I had no idea the black guardian trilogy was rare! this video came out in september 2017, i got it for christmas 2017, maybe my parents found a good deal on amazon or something, pyramids of mars was the first classic who dvd i got, my dad got it because its his favorite story, but unfortunately i only have the disc of it and the box it was in i have lost.
repeat after me E BAY all these stories are on it, at very reasonable prices, some all regions, what is so hard?
Please do dvd guide 2008
Your giant collection makes mine look so small 😧
For people that live outside the Uk, i recommend ordering of www.dvd.co.uk/ because it apparently ships to elsewhere in the world and has a decent selection
Am so glad Time and the Rani isnt rare people do not to be excited to see that XD
Haha. How'd I know you wouldn't be disappointment by that? Haha. :D
I have the pyramids of mars and earthshock
NICE! Those are great stories! True classics! Earthshock is creepy with all those Cybermen marching about in the dark! Got to love Pyramids of Mars, too! Which is your favorite of the two?
The Doctor Who Guide this hard to pick one i have to go with pyramids of mars
They're both such good stories! Too bad Pyramid at the End of the World didn't make any references to Pyramids of Mars (at least that I spotted). Tom Baker and Sarah Jane are both so good in that story! I love the gif from this episode of them walking into a room, seeing a mummy, and walking out again without it seeing them! Haha. :D
The Doctor Who Guide tom baker has some funny lines in that episode and all episodes with him
8:02 I'm not crying you're crying :(
Ok bbc what region should have rare doctor who dvds bbc says lets do region 1 the person says ohh so us bbc says no usa and canida

+The Doctor Who Guide thanks and I also enjoy love and monsters aswell which most people hate
Download the region free and PAL compatible VLC Media Player, import the much cheaper UK region 2 releases and watch them on your PC. Problem solved and loads of money saved.
I find it funny that we are region 1 and the uk that made doctor who is region 2 i guess they git there revenge by having rare dvds
It does seem strange, but the regions were unfortunately decided regardless of Doctor Who's origins. Region 1 unfortunately does have many rare ones, though.
I think bbc lost their supply of region 1 dvds because they're good at loseing doctor who stuff
Dailymotion is good for it
Bbc just like lets troll every one
Haha. Yes! It feels like that sometimes! At least they weren't destroying actual episodes this time! Haha.
Yea they like destroying stuff
Sceaw it iam moveing to the uk
Why do you whisper
Hey want this crappy doctor who story for 1 millon dollars sure
No thanks! I'd rather have The Daleks' Masterplan for free! Haha.
*laughs in english cheap and available web planet*
Cries in rare and unavailable Web Planet. 😂
Your so unlucky
Also when are you going to show the series of who tubers who talked about a certain series and the top 3 from the series
It's frustrating, but I'm glad to have all but one, and I think a small encouragement is that it makes me more appreciative of those stories!
