Although I adore Holly Hunter's work in _The Piano_ and I totally understand the difficulties and challenges of emoting while not being able to utter a single word, I still feel that Bassett's Tina Turner was the strongest, most memorable performance that year. Amazingly enough, Bassett has never again received an Oscar nod. WTF? Surely Hollywood will eventually give her a role worthy of her talents.
