A rich man intends to leave his estate to his nephew and two nieces, but just before he dies he changes his will to include a medium who has convinced him his nephew is a fraud. From The Thirteen Problems.
Mr Clode is a very rich man and intends to leave his estate to his nephew, George, and two nieces. But before he dies, he changes his will to include a Mrs Spragg, a medium who has convinced him that George is an imposter. When Clode dies they discover his new will is missing. Who among the many suspects could have stolen it? The only people who had a motive had no opportunity - it is left to Miss Marple to solve the case.
The story was published in the Royal Magazine in the UK in 1928 and in the US, under the revised title Where's the Catch? later that year. It was included in the 1932 collection, The Thirteen Problems, Miss Marple's first short story collection. - บันเทิง
Why is there music in the background? Detracts from the good narrator
Love the clarity of Juliet Stephens reading and of course the stories themselves...so clever!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a treat to hear these read by the fabulous Juliet Stevenson!
😍😍😍😍
She is the perfect narrator for these stories!
Good naration but it is spoiled by adding background music. It is totally unnecessary and irritating.
Agreed
What music?
Disagree - 99% of audiobooks don’t have any music. Good narration, no asmr and music is a hard combo to find.
It’s necessary as part of the copyright claim. Putting something in the background helps prevent it being taken down
Get rid of the background music. Very distracting
Love Agatha Christie stories. The background music is fine. Bearly noticed it ❤
Many stories in the late 1920s and early 30s were about spiritualism, especially from America. This is a good example :-)
This story though fictional raises an interesting question. If a lawyer witnessed a will being made as per his clients stated intentions but the will disappeared what would be the legal position? Would the clients previous will (if there was one) be enforced, or would the lawyers testimony about the new wills intentions be enough to make it still valid? I suspect not, as the law would doubtless require written proof, but still, it's an intetesting point. 🤔
Great story. Enjoyed it!
It's a shame there's background noise in the vids. I don't see why you would sabotage a good narrator with useless noises.
What music? Thank you for this and other stories❤
Fun! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
❤❤❤❤
I enjoy the music, makes your Audio different & sets the tone of mystery
I don't find the background noises intrusive, but equally I find them unnecessary.
Would be good if the author got some credit at the start of the narrative. I didn't hear it. But maybe I got a beheaded production.
what were your hopes for that fuking background noise
Please do a version without background music. I agree the music is irritating and distracting. I couldn’t listen. Such a shame. It doesn’t add anything. In fact it is incompatible with the story.
