    Thanks for the vid but I completely fuckin gave up on properly putting the cover on… this shit is almost impossible to put in. And why the fuck would Nissan make it so hard to do replace a filter 😭

    Vacuuming the slot does nothing. With the filter removed, turn on the blower to high and it will blow out a ton of trapped crap. Also, it's a very good idea to drop the blower fan and motor and check it for debris. It only takes a minute to remove three screws. If you get leaves or twigs in the squirrel cage fan it will knock it out of balance and make it vibrate and rumble. It also prevents it from running at full speed. Removing the fan/blower requires removing the glovebox. It's not that hard.

      Yes, and it will blow it right into the heater core or evaporator. I wouldn't do it.

    Thank you for having a vid with clear directions from beginning to end. I have a 15 Nissan Sentra. The method is the same. I'm not paying the dealership $50+ (32 part at dealership) for a $7 filter..

    hahaha ... your cover did not go back in properly. I am now 20 min struggling to get that plastic piece to stay on. You faked it my friend. Should have shown how difficult it is to put the cover back on. You can't leave it hanging....

    Thanks for the informative video. I have just changed the cabin filter on my altima but it was before I watched this video. Is there an orientation for that filter or it does not matter which side should it be installed? I could not see any arrows on the filter. Also, I guess I pushed the new filter inside the housing too much because it went all the way in and to the right edge of the housing. Is it gonna be a problem? Hand access is crazy down there.

    • @futuretraveldrone
      @futuretraveldrone  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sam Y I think it’s does not matter which side. If you push filter too much it may not work properly.

      Future Travel Drone Thank you. Do you think I should pull it back to make it line up with the cap? Because now It has about 1 inches of clearance against the housing cap.

    • @futuretraveldrone
      @futuretraveldrone  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sam Y yes I think you should pull it back and install it properly.

    You see, the problem is that once that cover is removed, it’s hell to get it seated properly again. Most videos of how to install the filter on this particular car and any other similar Nissans fail to mention that. I think most of these guys in the videos KNOW this as well, that’s why they’ll edit the video at the end to show the cover seated, when they(like you and me) were stuck trying to figure how to seat that damn cover properly. Honestly tho, I don’t think it’s that much of a big deal, because only a little air escapes, but if you’re like me, it bugs you a little. I think that’s why at the dealer they charge like $60 or so to install the filter, because I think they actually remove the bottom of the glove compartment to install the filter. Then again, depending on the mechanic who installs the filter he/she may just simply slide it on without removing the bottom of the glove compartment, just to save time.

    The top of the filter cover is very hard to lock into place. If you watch the video closely, you can tell that the top of the filter cover is not locked into place when he is finished. It was loose when he was done. The cover will be tight if installed correctly.

    • @jpsinger16
      @jpsinger16 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I noticed that too. When I changed my filter I spent 10 minutes trying to secure the cover tightly but I couldn't do it and eventually just left it loose as shown in the video. I have no idea why it's so hard to lock in place.

    • @futuretraveldrone
      @futuretraveldrone  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, you right. I've changed it this year too and I fixed that.

      Is there an easier way to lock that thing into place. I've been messing around with it for 30 minutes and my thumb hurts from trying to squeeze it into place

    • @jcgizzle
      @jcgizzle 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The reason the cover does not seat properly at the top of the housing is because the filter is not behind the housing at the top. In the video the filter at the bottom is completely inside but at the top it has a lip and it gets stuck on the lip at the top... it's very hard to see. Once I pushed my hand all the way to the top of the housing I can feel the filter sticking out. Simply press the filter inside then reinstall the cover. Great video!

    You don't need to remove the panel OR the glove compartment to get to the cabin filter! (save yourself a LOT of time!!) Just access it from underneath! Yes it's extremely awkward to get to but like I said, saves TONS of time!

    WOW! Nice video thanks! Just worried that filter was made in China hope it doesn't' have lead or formaldehyde or some poisons in it that will spread it into cabin to breathe in. Id feel better with one made in USA Just sayin!
