- As some of you may know, my husband recently got stationed in Hawaii so here is how our PCS move began! This move was extremely stressful because they had us move during this pandemic but hopefully gives you guys some insight as to how last minute things are with the military and how PCSing works.

I noticed that the movers had put a lot of boxes, as well as mattresses in the garage - was that at your request? If you didn't request that, they should have taken the items to the different rooms in the house for you. I understand completely why you wouldn't want them to unpack for you. My husband and I are both AF veterans, and we have been through enough moves to give us PTSD, so I know what you went through. As far as breakage, you'll learn through experience what to watch out for when they are packing - they should have packed the items in your entertainment cabinet. The broken dresser foot - that was probably just bad luck, though I am surprised they didn't crate your furniture since it was technically an overseas move. We did learn that even if both of you are there, you can't watch everything. It always seemed to me like a bunch of Army ants swarmed over the house during the packing process. I don't remember what our weights were, but it always took two days to pack us, and one full day to load the truck.
Can you bring a hot plate on the plane with your checked stuff? And can the movers take canned goods?
I was able to bring a hot plate on the plane but the hotel didn't allow me to use it in the room. We were allowed NO liquids with the movers :(
Okay so any liquids we want to take with us has to be in a tote for the plane?

I believe so! I’m not sure how it works with the updated rules though so you’ll have to check in with your command. The group is PCSing to Hawaii.
