Always be extra careful when coming with the tweezer at that entry point due to the black touch ic. I see many come to me cracked when the shield has been removed.
Federico Cerva definitly a great tip Rico! Thanks for sharing. It def is important to look in the hole if it’s a new board and your not accustomed to it’s internal layouts.
Yes it's sometimes super tough to remove "clipped on" emi shield on samsung devices. I tried pulling and twisting for hours until and finally gave up. Just used dremel to saw part of the cover off and rest came off unclipped.
No one told it's use except you over TH-cam. Good
Dude, you are flipping awesome! I just spent 30 min trying to remove the emi shield from an iphone 4s with a heat gun. Until i saw the rivets. Oh well, im here to learn lol

This is a great video, thanks very much. I'm having trouble finding info/tips on how to replace the shields once they've been removed and the board worked on. Can they be replaced or is some other solution required to protect the components after? Thanks again for the video, very helpful and clear.
Thank you Justin for your excellent content. Between you and the many other you tubers I was able to pull a shorted cap and get my login screen back. Now I just need to figure out if it is worth trying to get the shields back on and make the phone actually work again. And also if I need to put that cap back on... I would also like to do a one time patronage appreciation. Is that possible?

how about just cutting off stubbornly soldered emi shield with dremel? Much safer than possibly toasting components with 500 deg heat.
The method in this video is more than industry standard. The deal here is, generally the joints of these emi shields are lower temp solder anyway. So if you let gravity do the work, toasting components is not really even an option. You really would have to be negligent to toast something. =) Thanks for the comment. I appreciate you views!

@@TheArtofRepair The issue was thermal paste between the processor and the EMI shield. I have to admit that worked great (just not for repair).
