Highly spoken film all over India. Lataji's voice echoed throughout the movie. SPB's dominance was also there. Madhuri's smile and Salman's romantic game were very enjoyable even I couldn't understand hindi. Ramlaxman's great music.

@@dancerchick See every star has down fall.Nobody remains star for ever.Rsjesh Khanna, Mithun Chakraborty, Amitabh etc all lost that adulation once then chose to act in charector roles.Similar manner Salman , Sahrukh , Akshy etc will lose their stardom gradually now.We do not remember when Sahrukh Khan's filmfid well in the Box office for last time.Salmans' last few films also did not do well too.Now it is high time for them to chose charector roles to act.Salman needs to stop accepting scripts of superhero charector.He needs to chose content based scripts.Because those masala movies will not work anymore.He acted really well in Sultan, Khamoshi,Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam etc..

Maybe just in the Hindi speaking regions of India, but not in every Indian wedding! It's not played in Punjabi wedding, and doubt it's played in weddings in other non-Hindi speaking states.

This is the movie I always watch whenever its on tv, this was such a huge movie one of the biggest hit. But you wont understand this movie as it is very long and revolves around the family drama during indian weddings. And this song has to be played in wedding !!

Without getting the context of the movie and the song placement in the plot, it would sound absolutely nonsensical to anyone "reacting" to it. I think it is one of the least appealing songs from a "song" perspective, although pivotal from the plot perspective.
I watched this movie in cinema hall twice, first with a neighbor’s family and then with my family, within a week. 😂 But I still love this movie. This became a blockbuster breaking all the records. It came a year before DDLJ. And I used to be a huge Salman Khan fan in those days. I had posters of Salman Khan all over my room. 🤣 I think many people used to like him in those days. Now I can’t stand him but I still watch his movies from early 90’s till late 90’s. He had his own style and charm.

The dog you see is named Tuffy and This movie actually made people in India want to own dogs, before this movie dogs weren't really something alot of Indians wanted but after this movie the mindset of people changed, I heard that in real life after this movie was finished, Madhuri ended up adopting the dog from the movie and kept him which is too damn cute to know!

You MUST watch this movie. It's just iconic. And I can write on and on about Hum Aapke Hain Koun (short name HAHK).
This is the only movie I have watched more than 5 times in theatre. I was 14 years old at that time. And it has 14 songs! And all songs were really great. The one you have reacted to is one of the least popular but all songs gel well with the story.
Salman Khan's fist big hit was Maine Pyar Kiya (MPK) in 1989. The same director Sooraj Barjatya directed him in this movie HAHK in 1994 - which was the biggest blockbuster of the time - and could very well be the biggest ever, if adjusted for inflation. It certainly tops in terms of the highest number of tickets sold ever.
The music composer of this film is Ram Laxman. It was a duo when they started in late 70's however one of them passed away too early in just 3-4 years . The other one continued with the duo name...so even if it's two people as composers, it's actually only one composer. The same person composed music for Salman Khan's many big hits in early part of his career.
The movie is close to 3.5 hours long and may feel like a wedding event. My gut feel is that Korbin will simply love this movie! Rick may like in parts.
Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan were the cutest pair in this movie. Their chemistry is just amazing! Songs are beautiful. You will find the sets, choreography, cinematography very dated...but it's very simple and charming! You will appreciate this movie a lot more if you understand Indian ethos. It is flawed. But it's endearing and nostalgic! Don't watch it with your critics' hat on.
Lata Mangeshkar sang most songs in the film. She was 65 years at that time and she was singing for 27 year Madhuri Dixit! S P Balasubramaniam was voice of Salman Khan in early years of his career. Perfect for Salman's personality as a young, lovable, gullible boy.
You should first react to songs from this movie. Especially Maye Ni Maye, Wah Wah Ramji, Chocolate Lime Juice, Yeh Mausam Ka Jadoo Hai Mitwa, Jute Do Paise Lo...yo uhave already reacted to Didi Tera Devar Diwana and Lo Chali Mai.
The actor who plays Salman Khan's elder brother is son of legendary actress Nutan (you might have reacted to her songs). Nutan is elder sister of Kajol's mom Tanuja. So Mohnish and Kajol are cousins.
The awkward looking girl in this song is Renuka Shahane who played Madhuri Dixit's elder sister. She was a popular TV anchor and couldn't dance at all. That's why it looks funny.
In this movie two brothers (Mohnish and Salman) marry two sisters (Renuka and Madhuri). After this movie lot of households in India saw the sons of one family marrying daughters of other family. I myself saw 2-3 such cases :-)
This was also a movie which brought clean, family entertainers/musicals back in fashion. The cinema till then had started becoming violent and vulgar with double meaning dialogues, pelvic thrust dances (Thanks to Govinda!). HAHK changed it in a big way!
Madhuri Dixit was at the peak of her popularity with this movie! Salman Khan was also the top star then (ahead of Aamir and SRK). DDLJ released in 1995, one year later and became equally big hit (some say bigger, but I don't agree). But HAHK will still be remembered as a classic 25 years from now. Not DDLJ.
HAHK opens with a romantic song shot in Black and White. It's really great! I didn't appreciate it much then as a 14 year old boy. But appreciate it a lot now!
Last fun fact. The iconic comedy movie Andaz Apna Apna (please don't compare it with trash/garbage like Ishq) released in the same year in 1994 just 2 months later. I think HAHK released on 5th August 1994 and AAA released in November 1994. AAA suffered because of HAHK, but the movie became cult slowly. Salman shot for both movies in parallel.
You should watch HAHK in one sitting, even though it's 3.5 hrs long. Preferably watch it with family (and don't discuss while watching the movie).
Regarding Andaz Apna Apna...pls watch it when you are ready. I don't want you to NOT get the most iconic comedy because you are not ready :-)

This was the good phase of Salman Khan. Now he just looks like a beefed up body builder with little to no expressions. This movie, 'Hum Aapke Hai Koun' won hearts all over India at the time of it's release. It broke the record set by 'Sholay' for being the highest grossing Indian film of all time. It's a lovely film, but i am not sure if you guys will like or understand anything in it.
The thing with Sooraj films I lost the connection in mid even they are good because he so surrounded around a house , family and all conversation in it and then just after that goes in deep serious mood I think they will feel the same .I love Maine pyar Kiya hai that's the only movie of Sooraj I was so engaged

This is our go to movie, along with maine pyaar kiya, hssh, nayak and sooryavansham .. If we are not getting anything on TV to watch, most of the time we are sure to have one of these to enjoy..

In the same award function, Shahrukh Khan also got the best actor award for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai ahead of Aamir Khan for Ghulam and Ajay Devgan for Zakhm. Rani Mukherjee got the best supporting actress award for Kuch Kuch Hota ahead of Shefali Chhaya for Satya. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai won the best film award ahead of Satya and Ghulam. Award Functions in India have always been a joke, they are not supposed to be taken seriously.

@@t.t8383 because of all the songs, it had 14 songs and all of them were SUPERHIT and it became the most selling album aswell , but the album record was broken later, when it came most of the movies were dark about heroes fighting villains and heroine was just an eye candy , Amir khan, Anil Kapoor and govinda were doing some rom coms but they were also mostly hero based, but in this movie everyone had good screen time and it was an extremely light hearted family movie, before this movie , fathers mothers and kids used to go to theatres with their friends , this was the trendsetter where the entire Joint Families started to come to theatres together, it has the maximum number of footfalls till today, and people used to rewatch it multiple times in theatres, it’s songs are still played in north indian weddings even now and it’s costumes and dresses became all time iconics, what else to say
As a South Indian I can confirm this movie just pulled the non hindi speaking family audience to theatres. It was the biggest blockbusters of that time followed by DDLJ
Khamoshi, hum sath sath hain, Sajjan, hum dil de chuke sanam, karan arjun(w/Shahrukh and Salman) (watch those)- his movies before 2010s were much better. After a while he decided to just do massy movies that were for lower middle class people. He just wants them to enjoy so he also makes sure his steps are easy for people to dance to. He believes most people in India watch movies as a huge outing with their families and live tough lives so they should be able to just forget about their pain when watching his movies. A huge number of his films were also made as a favor to friends to give them work or help them out.
Also Sanjay leela Bhansali got his first break bc Salman agreed to do his movie. Hrithik, Arjun kapoor, Sonakshi and many others are people he’s responsible for getting into shape and helping them get into movies. He saw deepika first and recommended her as well.
He didn’t take the filmfare award seriously and returned it saying it was silly for him to get it for that part. He did the part as a favor/for free for karan johar and shahrukh bc everyone else said no.
Salman also believes he’s a mediocre actor and constantly says he doesn’t have talent, he just had luck.
His father is one half of the famous writing duo Salim Khan /Javed Akhtar- Javed Akhtar (Zoya and Farhan’s dad). They wrote deewar, sholay and many of the biggest hits of all time. They had so much power that they would decide casting bc everyone wanted to work in a movie written by them. They are also responsible for making amitabh bachchan “the angry young man” in his earlier movies and for making him a star.
I think hum saath saath is not important because it is long film even though entertaining but not same engaging, entertaining like ddlj,Maine pyar Kiya ,hahk this is the problem with Sooraj films because all things are around in a house even I feel same in hahk but it is different from hssh that's why I love his Maine pyar kiya

Korbin for us kuch kuch hota hai was a much better film than Satya.I dont think any of my friends even know abt this film(Satya) but they have definitely seen k2h2 over 5-6 times.I watched satya and i didnt like it that much.so i think its fair that k2h2 won awards over Satya.k2h2 was a much accepted film among audience over Satya.

The song and the movie is iconic...a lot of cultural and emotional references make this song special. But the happiness ends with the song and the tragedy starts...a huge blockbuster for that time.
