Thanks, very helpful. The hardest part was popping out the lenses. I used two very tiny flat head screwdrivers from an eyeglass repair kit, working them carefully around the edge of the lens until it popped out. Robot must have super strong fingernails to do this by hand.
Great info on those lights. I'm converting mine into dual propose with the addition of a double pole relay. Will make my lower front lights function as DRLs until you switch on either the left or right turn signals. When that happens, both DRLs will switch off and the one matching the turn signal you choose will become a synced repeater. Cancel the turn switch and the DRLs will come back on. Better visibility for safer scooting.
Does anyone know where I can buy the wiring harness to do this? I don’t want to die on my buddy at night, but also don’t have $70+ to spend on ordering from this guy. Any help is appreciated.
You say in the vid that the 170 is pretty different under the "hood" -- I just got one of these kits and am waiting for it to arrive: what do I do differently or look for (are things just in different locations)?
Nice mod. I'm new to scooters. Just scored a 2011 Blur 220i with 891 miles on it. I'd like to do this mod to it. Do you have a harness available for mine?
Hey homie, did you ever try doing these on the KICK? Thinking about doing my KICK, but I do know that there are some significant differences under the hood than the reg Buddy, but don't know if that extends to the lighting harness etc. Think I heard that the Bosch Fuel injection changes the amperage, but do not know for sure at all. Did you ever give it a try? This cat (robot) from Vespa Portland has been good in the past of at least responding to comments, but I don't see any answers or replies to the questions like ours at all. Still, I've taken his tips on his Vespa 300gts videos and applied them to my GSC Buddy Kick and it's worked out fine. But electrical work is a pain in the ass w/out instructions. Not worth taking everything apart unless u know you all the voltages etc.
I've been looking at the specs & reviews of dozens of scooters... Sold my "last"' Harley a week or so ago. The interstates are no longer a safe option in my opinion; nor are the three lane arterial roads (not in my area of Florida is concerned). Out of State drivers, uninformed geographically. Distracted drivers the darn cell phones, unskilled drivers (both young and old) and the worst group the impaired drivers, have all combined to create an environment where most major roads are high risk for two wheels. Riding 46 years never had an incident and don't want one now. So I've been tossing the idea around in my mind of a smaller ride (a scooter) for the neighborhood and a few short runs nearby. I'm 5'9" and 180 pounds with a 32" inseam. I was thinking the Blur 220 would be a good fit for me. It would be just me (solo) on the scooter. What have you found as far as durability of the Genuine line of scooters? What would you guess my top speed would be? How frequent is the intensive maintenance, like valve check and cvt belt replacement? Any solid info would be appreciated, thanks!
Sorry for the confusion. This kit is actually still not available on our website just yet. Check back after the Holidays and we should have it up. Thanks!
Thanks very much for posting the video. A tip on removing the lens from the body panel. Use a plastic guitar pick.
