    The Audi A6 is the luxury car that put everyone on notice.

    Stunning car! I've always wanted the S6, but I had no idea that the A6 3.0T's engine is so powerful. With a sprint to 60 in only 5.1 secs, there's really no need for the S6.

      chigasaki06 4.4 for the S6. Not a huge leap.

    I'm starting my second day driving this as a loaner and it's actually pretty good. it's not as comfortable as my 8L but it's definitely better than the a4 I tried out before. the adaptive cruise control is pretty cool as I drove on the interstate without even touching my gas or break until I got to my exit. I'd recommend it.

    We recently were very lucky and purchased a gorgeous 2011 A6 Avant 3.0 supercharged, prestige, sport package - S line car
    and love it! It feels like a V8 without the extra weight. Does anyone know why Audi stopped importing the A6 into USA?
    Most Americans want an SUV and have no idea that the carrying capacity of a wagon is very similar.
    I'm an old motorhead former race driver, etc. and to me, this car is fun and reliable!

    I've had one a year with the S-line trim which makes it look better. Wheels look much better also.

    This is my favorite generation of the A6, i hope someday they will bring back the a6 avant to the states, Cerious can you change the audio channels from the sterling wheel or do you have to use the voice commands?

    Audi A6 and Steve are the best

  • @76carmel
    @76carmel 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Question, Steve. I initially stated that this A6 is becoming the benchmark to mid-sized luxury class. A few years ago, it was the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class being the benchmark. How did they get stale? I think just by reputation. Your take?
    I think the A6 and Cadillac CTS , and Lexus GS are the benchmarks in the mid-sized luxury sedan segment. However, if I can afford these vehicles, I'd take the A6 due to more room in the rear seat.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Billy Sou Some cars simply age better than others and keeping up with the rapidly changing technologies is only part of it. Audi has the best style and it endured while BMW's 5-series was a dud out of the box and the E-Class somewhere in between. This is why we're seeing shorter product cycles and quicker refreshes. The competition is fierce and it's not long before another car is ready to take the top spot.

    I know this is nitpicky but I really hate when auto makes use the brake lights as the turn signals and all of these bmw and audi do that

    • @khalidcarrillo1132
      @khalidcarrillo1132 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It is because USA requires them to. In Europe they have a thin amber turn signal which they don't allow here.

    No leather dashboard. It's one thing that is missing in this car: more leather instead of soft plastics.

    absolutely love the engineering and mechanics of this model but the trunk is surprisingly small at 14 cubit feet. Not much changes for the A8 either .

  • @jakeblack5712
    @jakeblack5712 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Check your info. The 2.0t does not come with the 7 speed dual clutch if you get it in Quattro. In that configuration it comes with an 8 speed auto that is not dual clutch. But the 8 speed/Quattro 2.0 will do 0-60 in 5.8 seconds which is a lot quicker than the rear drive dual clutch version of the 2.0t.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      "Though A6 Premium and Premium Plus models can be specified with a new 2.0-liter 4-cylinder paired with a 7-speed double-clutch transmission in either front or all-wheel drive..."
      I can see where the confusion is....factually correct but poorly worded on my part. A comma after the word 'transmission' is needed.
