Sengoku Basara 3: Utage (Eng Sub) - Sasuke Sarutobi Story Mode | Ch. 2

Sasuke's 2nd stage in SB3: Utage, translated to English.
This stage is from the original game, but it's an uncommon stage at least. This stage goes heavy on the whole "monkey" motif thing with Sasuke, which I had been deliberately avoiding in the one stage that featured him talking about it before. Because it just sounds super weird without context, to the point SB:SH dropped it entirely. But it's too integral to the dialogue here and is brought up later, so I rolled with it. When its actually given context, then it doesn't sound so weird when Sasuke says something like "all I see are monkeys". I've noticed the Sengoku Basara writers really like to write as if the player already has context for everything, or as if the player would somehow know all the things the author would, and it can be quite annoying at times.
The monkey theming with Sasuke Sarutobi is more easily apparent in Japanese because the "saru" in his name is the Japanese word for "monkey", and Sasuke in general has a bunch of lore revolving around him and monkeys. His conversation with Kojuro in this stage explains what it means when he "sees people as monkeys", but to simplify, it basically means he's in kill mode and sees all the enemies around him as having the same value as a monkey's life, so he feels nothing when killing them.

10:13 While it is pretty sweet to get a weapon after defeating a fugitive, I think it's the 10,000 XP that makes it worth sniffing them out. With the higher LV limit in the Utage expansion, a good leveling strategy is to play on higher difficulties, have Hanzo Hattori as an ally and equip the "Sunglasses". The 10,000 XP, combined with the XP multiplier at the end of the battle makes for a nice LV jump.
