Yuki is my favorite character from the start even from the original, where there is no season 2 yet. I fell for him not just because of his prince looks but also because of his personality. He is calm, caring, kind, thoughtful,smart, a true gentleman. Despite of having a traumatic experience in the past he grew up as a kind and caring person to tohru. I somehow can relate to Yuki, I guess that's probably the reason why he's my favorite from the beginning until the end. Just like him I also experienced emotional abuse from my parents and also to my classmates. People think a person like me and (Yuki) who is quiet, kind, serious in life, doesnt want to join after class activities are boring but what they didnt know is we are like that because of our past experienced. We are afraid to trust someone, to open up about how we feel, because if our own family treat us badly, then how can we trust anyone. They said physical abuse is better than emotional abuse because the scar and the wounds that you got on your skin will heal eventually compared to emotional abuse. The scar in our hearts will forever be there and people will never know the pain and sadness in our hearts. We are always lonely, we wanted to be love and to be accepted. I'm so happy that finally Yuki gain a real friends like Kakeru and Tohru. I'm also happy that he finally found the right person who understand his pain, who will love and cherish him forever.
Honestly, Akito had the worst life out of all of them even though she turned into a horrible character. Like, even though Yuki didn't have any adult to rely on as a kid, he still had someone who cared for him which is Haru even though he was a child too and later on, Ayame started caring for him too. On the other hand, Akito was probably an adult from the beginning of the series but literally no one cared for her or no one taught her what was right or wrong. Even though her dad was kind, his words of Akito being always loved only made her hold onto the curse even more. Like no one even guided her properly even when she became an adult. So I think she's the one who had the worst life in this anime. Ofc Yuki's trauma isn't any less and I love his character way more than Akito's but I think she just had the worst life out of all of them.
This was beautifully painful!! I'm so happy to find someone who loves Yuki! I absolutely love him to bits! But many fans under play his situation. His trauma was just as bad if not worse than Kyo (personally I think it was worse, since Kyo actually had people who loved him unconditionally and could trust them, but Yuki literally had no one except Tohru who he could trust buuut I won't be talking about that now lol) Yuki is literally the best written character of Fruits Basket! In my own opinion, I don't believe when Yuki said he only see thoru as a mother because his eyes says it all. But thoru is hardly in love with Kyo, well, he had Machi but I guess thoru has a special space in his heart. This is my own perspective don't get it wrong😊

I mean I won’t argue with that one but it gets dropped after ch 69. kyoko? even tho the anime made him “forget” their connection until he saw the hat? why was a grown woman venting to a 6yo child anyway? and they don’t even focus enough on the development of their relationship, it’s only used as a way for kyoko to dump her backstory on us for four chapters. we don’t really get both of them empathizing w each other’s situations or kyoko giving him any real advice I don’t think kyo is harder to analyze bc he’s more difficult to understand, I think he’s pretty easy to analyze bc Takaya fucked up his character arc after the beach arc and made him revolve around tohru. it’s not the fear of being locked up bc he won’t be able to go outside anymore, see uo and hana, see his background friends, hang out with the zodiacs - it’s feeling bad bc he won’t see tohru anymore. his entire motivation after the beach arc was “I need to spend time with tohru before I get locked up” (and I’m not exaggerating. he says so in s2ep9 and s2ep15) I mean you’re not wrong about him being popular bc of those reasons, but the fault is not really on the fans. takaya’s the one who made his character this way. the thing that gets me frustrated is that kyo could’ve been explored beyond his relationship with Tohru, but takaya never did that, so his character ended up way more superficial. instead of basing his development on the reality of being an outsider and being ostracized and the guilt of what happened with kyoko and all that, she instead made his development revolve around tohru. we don’t even get his reaction after Akito destroys the cat room. his character stayed stagnant after the beach arc for like 80 chapters, only showing him growing closer to Tohru. then they cramp all his development in 10 chapters and call it quits. that’s not good writing. the reason why Yuki’s such a great character is bc be got to grow up and develop and form relationships outside the sohmas and he literally forgived his abuser and moved on and found someone to love and his arc doesn’t depend on only one person or solely on a romantic relationship and takaya should’ve done Kyo’s arc like that. the fact that yuki’s development got to involve even his wardrobe and his nail length meanwhile kyo didn’t change anything..... she could’ve done better.
@@rawdasalmataman7908 as to why yuki keeps beating kyo but doesn’t get called out,,, the real cause: it’s a trope that takaya enjoys and that was popular at the time. the in-universe explanation: it’s just retaliation. kyo’s able to recognize that he made yuki a scapegoat even though he has never done anything wrong. he created a “bad guy” and made him take responsibility for everything. he just wanted to make anything inconvenient yukis fault so that he could pretend to forget his own errors. that’s why kyo should apologize to yuki. he actively chose to keep hurting yuki even though he knew it wasn’t fair or logical. yuki blamed kyo too for things not going his way, but it was only retaliation for the way he was treated for no damn reason. and saying that yuki never seems to feel guilty,, that’s not true. even from s1ep3 he says that their attitude to each other makes him sick, and in s2ep21 he clearly says that he wanted kyo to like him, to be his friend. but he’s shown that Kyo’s constant attacking made him turn admiration to hatred and start retaliating. and yuki does not know the real reason why kyo wants to beat him - kyo tells him he’s gonna be able to become a full fledged Sohma member if he does, but that’s not really a good thing and yuki knows that. the clan is cultish as fuck. the real reason kyo wants to beat him (besides all the projection) is bc he would be able to achieve his freedom in this way, instead of being locked up for the rest of his life. he never tells yuki that. we know bc we saw the flashback, but yuki doesn’t get that chance.

In s2 in this scene when kyo said he wanted to spend time with tohru you said why he didn't bring up hana or up or kazuma I mean wasn't in the previous scene with akito he was talking about tohru so it will make sense for him in the next scene to just talk about tohru. In the end I just want to say it is contradictory for people to say takaya fucked up kyo 's character but not yuki 's character but they just see that kyo 's character is connected to tohru while ignoring that yuki beats the shit out of kyo for no reason without getting consequences for retaliation even though yuki 's arc is about forgiveness and he even forgave akito ( his abuser) but not kyo. I don’t think kyo is harder to analyze bc he’s more difficult to understand, I think he’s pretty easy to analyze bc Takaya fucked up his character arc after the beach arc and made him revolve around tohru. it’s not the fear of being locked up bc he won’t be able to go outside anymore, see uo and hana, see his background friends, hang out with the zodiacs - it’s feeling bad bc he won’t see tohru anymore. his entire motivation after the beach arc was “I need to spend time with tohru before I get locked up” (and I’m not exaggerating. he says so in s2ep9 and s2ep15)
I mean you’re not wrong about him being popular bc of those reasons, but the fault is not really on the fans. takaya’s the one who made his character this way.
the thing that gets me frustrated is that kyo could’ve been explored beyond his relationship with Tohru, but takaya never did that, so his character ended up way more superficial. instead of basing his development on the reality of being an outsider and being ostracized and the guilt of what happened with kyoko and all that, she instead made his development revolve around tohru. we don’t even get his reaction after Akito destroys the cat room. his character stayed stagnant after the beach arc for like 80 chapters, only showing him growing closer to Tohru. then they cramp all his development in 10 chapters and call it quits. that’s not good writing. the reason why Yuki’s such a great character is bc be got to grow up and develop and form relationships outside the sohmas and he literally forgived his abuser and moved on and found someone to love and his arc doesn’t depend on only one person or solely on a romantic relationship and takaya should’ve done Kyo’s arc like that. the fact that yuki’s development got to involve even his wardrobe and his nail length meanwhile kyo didn’t change anything..... she could’ve done better.
@@rawdasalmataman7908 as to why yuki keeps beating kyo but doesn’t get called out,,, the real cause: it’s a trope that takaya enjoys and that was popular at the time. the in-universe explanation: it’s just retaliation. kyo’s able to recognize that he made yuki a scapegoat even though he has never done anything wrong. he created a “bad guy” and made him take responsibility for everything. he just wanted to make anything inconvenient yukis fault so that he could pretend to forget his own errors. that’s why kyo should apologize to yuki. he actively chose to keep hurting yuki even though he knew it wasn’t fair or logical. yuki blamed kyo too for things not going his way, but it was only retaliation for the way he was treated for no damn reason. and saying that yuki never seems to feel guilty,, that’s not true. even from s1ep3 he says that their attitude to each other makes him sick, and in s2ep21 he clearly says that he wanted kyo to like him, to be his friend. but he’s shown that Kyo’s constant attacking made him turn admiration to hatred and start retaliating. and yuki does not know the real reason why kyo wants to beat him - kyo tells him he’s gonna be able to become a full fledged Sohma member if he does, but that’s not really a good thing and yuki knows that. the clan is cultish as fuck. the real reason kyo wants to beat him (besides all the projection) is bc he would be able to achieve his freedom in this way, instead of being locked up for the rest of his life. he never tells yuki that. we know bc we saw the flashback, but yuki doesn’t get that chance.

You say takaya fucked up kyo 's character by making his bonds with two characters while ignoring that yuki 's entire arc was about forgiving who wronged you but he was beating the shit out if kyo for retaliation

Also like I said kyo 's character arc wasn't about making bonds but if you are going to claim that he just had bonds with two people then you don't want to understand his character.
Kyo had realionships with tohru ,kazuma , kagura , hana , ao , kyoko and he had some interactions with characters like haru and momiji.
He had interactions with many characters but takaya didn't spent time developing those but showed us what we needed to know to understand the character.
Kyo never had a problem with making bonds with others his social skills were good compared to yuki so takaya spend time developing yuki 's social skills.
I refuse to explain what kyo 's problem was because I simply refuse to.
I find people say yuki is a great character but takaya funked up kyo 's character because they are so picky.

you said why he didn't bring up hana or up or kazuma
I mean wasn't in the previous scene with akito he was talking about tohru so it will make sense for him in the next scene to just talk about tohru.
In the end I just want to say it is contradictory for people to say takaya fucked up kyo 's character but not yuki 's character but they just see that kyo 's character is connected to tohru while ignoring that yuki beats the shit out of kyo for no reason without getting consequences for retaliation even though yuki 's arc is about forgiveness and he even forgave akito ( his abuser) but not kyo.
I just want to make it clear in the end that i like both yuki and kyo and I like all the characters and I respect your opinion and you don't have to accept mine or respect it.
