I have over 30 of them decorating my living room. My favorite piece is a full size reading floor lamp That got me first place in small furniture at the state fair. It took FOREVER to hand carve. Some lucky schmuck will get it when I die, and I'm sure it will be cherished forever, or until it burns to the ground in a fire.
@@RustBeltAuto can I be the lucky schmuck? No seriously though they are really cool. Can you carve in any design you want? Can you paint them different colors? I think there cool as natural but im just curious
@@RustBeltAuto Try Ebay... you don't need much to do it, and people like me, with no woodworking equipment or skills would be able to enjoy your work. Win win situation! 😁
I'm not sure about the diamond willow you are finding, but here in Sask the willow gets a viral infection which stains the diamonds shaped sockets where branches form and die off. Its a random thing, you can peel some bark back on one bush and its as blonde as your wood, but you can go 30 feet over and check on the next bush and it has super dark staining on the diamonds which makes for beautiful wood once waxed with bees wax or oiled with a good quality wood oil. Tung or the likes works well.
I gave one to a friend that looks like that. I thought it was a dead, standing piece of wood. It looks very cool. It is the only one I have seen like that.
Thanks for the tutorials, from a fellow Minnesotan! I will be heading out to the swamp to find my stick.
Always fun!
Really enjoying your woodworking and garage videos too.
Thank you!
Very nice walking sticks they turned out GREAT. You are very talented!!

Can I see a pic of of your floor lamp?
@@luann7165 Whateva, I do what I want.
That's so true everybody wants stuff done fast but Qauility takes time
Thanks for the video! With the wax finish do you ever need to reapply tung oil?
No. Just wax once in a while. A lot of sun can break down tung oil.
First coat of what?
Tung oil? And then tung oil. Tung oil, and more tung oil.
Nice work! I really enjoyed your videos.
Brian Easter thank you. Those were like quick and dirty cabin feaver videos :).
What an awesome set of videos! Can I buy one of those sticks from you?
Thanks! Someday I might sell them, but today is not one of those days.
@@RustBeltAuto they are awesome! Thanks for sharing the process...
@@MiamiGuy1972 you're welcome. If I had a store or something, I might sell them someday. I only have like 30 of them made. 😝
