    Hi Evan, that GoPro footage from high up in the sky was superb ! I did have the feeling that the wind speed at that moment was at its upper limits for a delta kite to fly in a stable and controlled manner. A good thing you tested your kite and that you didn't lose your expensive equipment. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻

      Thanks! The image stabilization combined with the horizon leveling feature on the GoPro does make KAV much smoother. The wind wasn’t all that strong, maybe 12 mph max. I’m going to switch back to the stock spreader for the time being.

    Evan - good stuff. As noted on the KAP forum, I use carbon fiber (SkyShark P400 and P300) tubes set up with the Dynamic Spreader (DS) configuration. I have had flight failures with the old two piece and the new 3 piece stock spreaders. I have ditched them all and swapped in the DS with excellent results for KAP with over 300 flights and no failures (due to the spreader). Like the high shots....the stabilized Go Pro video does a great job for auto KAP. Keep the photos and videos coming. WW

      Thanks, James. I’ve never had a problem with either the 2 or 3 piece stock fiberglass spreaders. I was just trying to avoid the problems I’ve read about from your experiences. I contacted Mike about getting a DS and hopefully will have one in the future. For now, I’m going to go back to the stock spreader for this kite. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Evan, I have a Into the Wind 9’ Levitation Delta like yours. I usually put a long fuzzy tail to keep the kite steadier in high winds. You can replace the leading edge fiberglass spars for carbon fiber if you are looking to save weight in low winds conditions. Just put a solid 2.5” carbon fiber rod at the tips to reinforce the spars. I’d seen people cutting the upper spreader in half to put a dihedral spacer but it is actually not need it for the ITW Levitation Delta. The fiberglass spreader while a bit heavier than carbon has more torsion elasticity and can handle heavier winds than carbon fiber. Good luck!

      I’m going back to the stock fiberglass spreader for now. Turns out the ferrule slipped because it wasn’t glued properly and cause the end of one of the spreader tubes to crack.

    Hey Evan, what string do you recommend to fly a 16sqm tribolite kite. Can you explain in detail please thanks in advance. Note: love all your videos especially the ones on kites they are very helpful thanks again.

      You’d probably want a minimum of 200lb line, I really like using braided Dacron like this: amzn.to/3Zf20Yi they also make 300lb line if you want some extra strength.

    Ive just noticed that the colour scheme of this 9 foot Levitation Delta is different to the 9' Levi Delta seen in your other videos. I have the other colour version (different to the one in this video.) So far, my stock spars have held up fine except I had an accident with one of them just prior to my very first flight. I dropped it and accidently stepped on it. Well actually, there was another accident several years later when my Levi Delta crashed and one of the spars speared right through the kite, creating a hole in the ripstop material. That also resulted in a broken spar with the three piece spreader.

    Love your enthusiasm for KAP. Was your joint for the carbon spreader close to the middle of the kite? That's usually the trouble spot.

    • @EvanReinheimer
      @EvanReinheimer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!! No, I made a 3 piece spreader. Turns out one of the ferrules slipped and caused the end of one of the tubes to split.

      BTW I did the Art Fair circuit as a furniture maker for 30 plus years mostly upper Midwest and East Coast. ACC shows were a mainstay. Not an easy way to make a living but it can be done. It was certainly interesting and provided a lot of independence. Best of luck to you.

    What’s stronger fiberglass or carbon fiber? Are ITW kites stock frames worth it? I purchased a KHK 9ft delta and the spine spar folded in the air after 10mins and the kite crashed. The spine spar was a resin rod. For 180$ I’m never buying KHK again. Also are the 5-25 mph wind specs accurate for KHK kites? Cause after watching mine fold 300ft into the air I was pretty annoyed cause it was a bit expensive for the kite to only last me 10mins and to be honest I couldn’t even get the delta to fly steady in the air for the 10 mins it kept swaying hard side to side crashing and the wind was only 15mph. What’s better carbon or fiberglass also what brand should I buy next? Prism or ITW??? Thanks yall

    GREAT SHOTS, REALLY GOOD💥

    Was it because the spar joiner was too small??

    • @EvanReinheimer
      @EvanReinheimer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Close…the ferrule (joiner) slipped and splintered the end of the tube. Lesson learned.

    Where to purchase this Delta?

    • @tonynikon
      @tonynikon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Into the wind in Colorado. They have a website. Do not buy the same model from Emma Kites on eBay. While cheaper, the cloth was brittle and the weight unbalanced. If you plan to fly it in heavy winds, I recommend a fuzzy tail to make it steadier. Mine is a 9’ model with a black and white tail to match the kite and it looks cool in the air. Good luck!

    Hi man :) what was your height record? I wonder if kites can be used for military surveillance instead of drones. Imagine we can get a night-vision camera up to 1000 meters and monitor enemies from the sky for HOURS without worries of the battery getting flat(drone). I guess threaded drones can be used but it is gonna be expensive VS using kite that is much cheaper...

    • @anzaeria
      @anzaeria 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would imagine that the battery in the night vision camera would go flat if the kite was up in the air for hours.

    That's what you get for being a pretentious jagoff with that carbon nonsense. Keep that stuff on your bicycle, Fred. ITW knows what they're doing.
