    Two kinds of rigging; standing rigging (static) and running rigging (moving). The three cables per side going up to the mast would be standing rigging and specifically, they are known as shrouds or mast stays to secure the main mast. Since there is a spotter up there located in the crow's nest, mast stays are doubly important. Instead of ratlines with horizontal ropes, I would leave them bare as I believe there was a ladder mounted to the mast for access to the crow's nest or spotter's station. I believe you are right, those are turnbuckles at 1:35.

    Next time drill out all the holes where rigging thread goes, well in advance. Instead of old fashioned cotton or polyester thread a better alternative is something that stretches and stays taught all the time. I think it is known as EZ-Line.
