    I am still gigging this system in all or part every weekend with by band. In the last 7 years I have not had 1 speaker fail or break on me. Im now adding the newer DXS18XLF subs x 8... any units that come up on eBay!! My son Rob is a DJ and loves his bottom end!!! Iv just changed my control gear to Behringer X32 rack... now gigging is starting again will post update of different configuration I take out... I have a mini festival I’m providing sound for in August will post then.. never thought my vid would get 344,000 plus views!!!

    We use both the DSR118 and the DXS115. If your just in clubs and bars then just go add a pair of DXS115's to your system. But if your budget is limited buy just 1 x DSR118 and build up from there. We built up slowley ourselves and found the DXS when we added 2 x pairs coupled really well. Now we are running 6 stacks of 2 x DSR118 with a DSR115 On top. The 118's really do give a lot of punch for the price...

    I was using a Apple AirPort Extreem. You can see from the video I was walking around the festival site...which is normally a truck park, its a very big area...so I had very good signal. The Mackie Desk and AirPort Extreem were located stage left rear corner. I didnt get any fall out. In fact Funny story!! I went to the cafe for a break which is at at least 200m away from the stage and I got signal and was able to oporate the desk from ther!!!

    I was using a Mackie DL1608 located on stage and used has the stage box and then 1 iPad left on the desk with 2 iPads for outfront mixing and onstage monitor mix.

    If yu have the ability to fly the tops, you could try to set up the subs in a line in front of the stage with or without a little space between each sub...

    hmm, subwoofers should be put together as one block (left, middle or right) otherwise you'll get severe bass cancel-out at every spot of the room except the very middle plane!

      @@jobelewis6416 Or the sponsors of the event insist on putting an advertisement on the center of the stage skirting and threaten to cut your pay if you group your subs together in front of it. My tops can go decently low though, so whenever I can't center group my subs, I run them as narrow as I can get away with which helps some, still less than ideal though.

    • @AaronJCourtney
      @AaronJCourtney 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Chris - I have read those DSR tops are not meant to be arrayed because of the horn's 90* horizontal coverage pattern...did you experience any phasing anomalies or wave reinforcement/cancellation problems in the highs?

    • @DiamondDogzVidz
      @DiamondDogzVidz 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aaron J. Courtney No they sounded ok....look if you want better performance spend more bucks and buy a named system....but for what we were using the system for it worked real good. I gig thi system or parts of it weekly from pubs to clubs and every now and then I put it all together into 1 bigger system...it works for me! I dont have many punters coming up to me asking about the horns and there horizontal coverage pattern! I get asked for more sub...and sometimes turn it up....all the busy sound engineers or techs that would know that shit are most probably running rigs at major festivals or out on tours with a top band....not at the types of gigs im using system at....and if they are they are most probabley so sick of sound engineering that they are pissed up enjoying themselves... I recommend the boxes for the type of work I do....IO have not had one box and I have over 20 break down or fail on me in over 18 months....yes subs should have wheels on them and maybe system need to lock into itself when stacked to stop boxes slipping....but you get alott of sound for your money....

    • @AaronJCourtney
      @AaronJCourtney 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      lemon rock thanks so much! Sounds like we are serving identical markets. I just wanted to make sure I'd be able to grow the system over time without incurring a significant penalty in sound quality. Great feedback!

      Aaron J. Courtney Yes seems we are both on same page....I only use the whole system a few times per year...normally I have part of it out every week with my band....2 x DSR115 Top and 2 DSR118 subs plus 2 x DXR15 for monitors. Which stay on the band van permanently. Then I have a few dry hire clients both mobile and pub/club venues. The past year I have added 4 x 215's and a few more 118's subs....the system has grown by a few boxes!!! Best news is we still have not had a box fail on us...and the system gets gigged 3/4 times per week!!! So we are very pleased with the boxes...

      +Jacob Donohoe - I have no experience of the BR10 boxes..but they are part of the Yamaha active box range...so should be good. But if you have a enhanced understanding of AUDIO..buy into the DSR range..

      +Jacob Donohoe - Im not into PA sales..We just use these boxes for our very busy Bowie Glam Band. But we play all sorts of venues UK/Europe wide..So we have gigged these boxes in all sorts of venues and rooms, From simple 2 box pub gigs to larger 1000 plus ball rooms and holiday camps...lots of out-door BBQs and mini pub beer festivals. The boxes cover many types of gigs and have proven reliable...we have never had a box fail on us in nearly 3 years of running them has our FOH and monitors boxes. We have added a DBX DriveRack P2 to add more control to the system. It really improves the system and set up is has simple.

    How are you all liking them so far? I use the QSC KW series right now, and I love them, but I'd like to try something different since most of my stuff is live music. I've been eyeing the DSR series for a big rig, 4 DSR215's over 8 DSR118W's with 8 DSR115's for monitors, and the DXR's for a small rig, 2 DXR12's over 2 DXS15's with 6 DXR12's for monitors.

    • @RIBBPRODUCTIONS4U
      @RIBBPRODUCTIONS4U  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mike Sullivan Im looking myself to expand my rig to a slimier configuration...on he few occasions ever year I need to put the whole rig together it will be interesting hearing what it would sound like...Did you expand your system? The DSR 115's dont have cut a-ways to use has monitors...only the DSR112's?

      Yeah I suppose I should of taken vid of that. All I can say is that the car park I was set up in is a the old harbour car park for the trucks cross channel hovercraft terminal....and we were pointed across from town centre...like a big conical....the houses up on the hill at the back of the town about 2 miles away could here it clearly all day....no limiting apart from our own common sence!!! we had it running at 70/80% and it rocked!!! all the bands were pleased and for what they are the boxes sounded clear and bass was ample..this is not a top end hire system but does hold its own!!

    Hi Chris,
    I own 2 Yamaha DSR 112 tops and 4 Yamaha CW118v subs, and I want to buy DSR subs or DXS subs to replace my subs. My question is, which is better option: to buy 4 Yamaha DXS15 subs (two by side with one DSR112) or buy 2 Yamaha DSR118w (one top and one sub by side). Which option would be primarly louder, I know that DSR is leauge above DXS,and I know that DSR go deeper, but I don't need extra deep bass for my band which DSR118w would give to me.

    Portable systems is not good solution to make arrays, you need specified systems to make arrays, like line array systems or narrow dispersion like point source systems to make arrays without overlaped dispersion. Other question is to use diferent subwoofer models, and use subwoofers in stereo position with cancelled zones in front. Finally, very good quality yamaha dsr speakers, but really bad array of a lot of them. Waste money en less portable speakers and more arrayable speakers if you make arrays. Mexican “minitecas” is only to make noise, for playing good music use the correct systems depending the aplication.

    • @christopherpurcell-peters1555
      @christopherpurcell-peters1555 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It worked fine and line arrays can only be used one way!! This system I use in so many ways!!! I’m a fan of line array... when I owned a hire company I was first ever to tour a ground stacked line array with a named artist Sir Bob Geldof it was a Adamson Y12 rig. Brock Adans loaned me the system and I put it straight out on a theater tour!! 33 dates... I was the first to ground stack it!!’ Seems to have caught on!!

    • @patoyross1
      @patoyross1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christopherpurcell-peters1555 Ok, believe in you, but in this video you made 3 things that never you could do in profesional audio, the first, put side by side full range speakers like dsr 15 with 90 degrees cover with only 20? 15? degrees angle, that produces comb filters, the second, you put diferent speakers in the same way, in this case, with diferent subwoofers, 4 dxs15 with one dsr118, and third, you put subwoofers in stereo position, that produced canceled sound in diferents zones, ever better in mono sum mode and in array along the scenario, with cardiod array for live aplication. Regards.
