Nice rap session on the league. I agree with his assessment of SDSU being in the tournament at this point. My Lobos have had a decent pre conference record beating UCLA and VCU, playing St John’s tough in Madison square garden, but they had a hiccup at hone against New Mexico St which was a bad overtime loss…..otherwise the Lobos would be in too! Go Lobos!
I believe the transfer portal needs some tweaking. First and foremost....student athlete’s need to be prohibited from entering the portal until AFTER their current team's season is concluded...including bowl games. When these players leave earlier...it changes the outcome of these bowl games and ruins it for the fans. Also coaches of these teams should not be allowed to leave these universities for other opportunities until AFTER their current school's schedule is complete...including bowl games. Again it changes the outcome of these bowl games.
SDSU and USU are in really good shape. Boise and UNM have potential to make it with really good league play. MWC is down this year but the ACC is really down so we will probably get 2-3 bids. Question is does UCSD have a path to an at large? Would obviously require a near perfect record in big west play but I think there is a chance with that Q1 over USU
SD is a 2nd rate sports city. 1 MLB team, 0 NFL, NBA, NHL teams. There are smaller cities with more. SDSU is doing amazing with so little outside financial support. I'm so grateful that large donors built Tony Gwynn stadium and the Jam Center, etc. But perhaps former MLB, NFL, and NBA alumni might do more for the NIL. I know my closet is filled with NIL T-shirts and Jerseys, and I don't earn pro athlete money.
I dont see scenarios where the MBB ever charter to San Jose, Las Vegas or even Phoenix. The flight time is short and the flights are plentiful. Dutch said in the presser that they tried to arrange a charter, but no planes were availble since this is Holiday week. So Mark's comment about Gillespie field doesn't make sense.
As of today and based strictly on KenPom ratings, The MWC has 5 teams rated Quad 1 but two are near the edge ready to fall out. That might mean only 3 teams have a decent chance of being selected but only SDSU has the rep to be noticed. Only the Aztecs will probably have good chances of being selected as long as they don't lose to anyone outside of the other two and those two almost need to beat the Aztecs to not be considered bubble teams. Everyone else is just a spoiler and needs to win the Conference Title to get in.
❤the show man
Thank you!

I would love to see them get 5 but realistically I see 3 getting in.
