I wonder why Masini chose such a driving and ungainly tempo for this aria. Caballe had a tendency to slow things down for effect, so he might have been trying to curtail that inclination. For what it's worth, she's right with him. It makes a lot of the breath control things easier, but she could have done all of those things in a slower tempo and been even more impressive.
Her commercial recording of 1974 (Domingo, Cossotto, Cappuccilli, Ghiaurov, Muti) is unequaled. Here is the aria in that recording. Her ascent to the high C in one breath is extraordinary. She repeats that feat at the Liceo. th-cam.com/video/eTRM2AyjEOQ/w-d-xo.html Qui Radamès verrà!... Che vorrà dirmi? Io tremo... The tempo is way too fast but she sings cleanly and neatly, with clear phrasing, not always her forte. The delicate ascent to the high C is remarkable. Do refer to the superb 1974 EMI recording under Muti!
@@yuliana703 It's true that few dramatic soprani manage to sing pianisimi high notes but I don't think that it is a problematic of the nature of the voice but of vocal technic and the lack of good bel canto school. Callas said once " You are soprano and basta". The huge Zinka milanov or Ghena Dimitrova could reach the top notes with exquise pianisimi.
@@brunopicaude3092 I don't say that it's impossible. But there is one problem. I do have big dramatic voice too with very powerful chest register. It was quite hard to learn how to sing in soft and light way, it took several years. And if voice in not very good condition, I'm I'll and so on, I just loose this soft sound. And what about light voices - they always have it and usually have from the beginning, though it's hard and sometimes dangerous for them to sing in tight and powerful way.

Caballe auf ihrem Höhepunkt.
Die Arie klingt schwebend und mühelos!❤❤
The breath control is absolutely incredible. Especially the way she approaches the high note. Didn’t see that coming!
Simply the best 👌 👍 😍 🥰 ☺️
She was an straordinary Aida with her unique and privilege voice 👏👏👏
So magnificent, forever the best 👌 👍 😍
Muchas gracias por este tesoro, adoro la parte numi, piet'a del mio soffrir de ritorno vincitor.
there were other great singers for sure, but no one as clean as caballe.
This is lovely!

Por cierto, un día como hoy del 2018 , le habian dado el alta médica por sus problemas en la vesículo, luego, su muerte fue sorpresiva.

unequaled? callas 1951 aida destroys caballe's aida to eternity

Creo que fue con Plácido Domingo, a beneficio de Cruz Roja
A benefico de Pamias, el empresario del Liceo en esos años
I do prefer a more dramatic-voiced Aida, but no, I cannot say no to Montse! 😘😘
In the long phrase with the top C, nobody else but her.
@@brunopicaude3092of course, because it's hard for big dramatic voices but very simple for more light and liryc ones
