The nRF9160 DK is an affordable, pre-certified single-board development kit for evaluation and development on the nRF9160 SiP for LTE-M, NB-IoT, and GNSS. Bjørn unboxes the Nordic nRF9160 DK and takes you through the steps for setting it up and connecting it to nRF Cloud.

Note: when you unzip the precompiled firmware that you can get from our website, do not unzip the modem firmware e.g "mfwnrf9160120.zip"
This may help to who are all using local service provider sim card and their cloud?
would you pls tell me, what should i do to get the nRF9160 connected to LTE Network ? the SIM has been acitvited but i still cannot connect the Dk to the network. by the way my location is in austria, vienna.
Make sure you have updated to the latest modem firmware and Asset Tracker v2 firmware, then open a serial terminal and check the output log. If nothing is said explicitly, you can open a ticket in Devzone and share the log there, and our tech support team can help out: devzone.nordicsemi.com/
If you are more comfortable using AT commands, you can flash the Serial LTE Modem application and connect manually. We would also recommend going through the Cellular Fundamental course: academy.nordicsemi.com/courses/cellular-iot-fundamentals/

can you give some basic explanation about how to connect with custom cloud by local service provider sim card?
The nRF9160 has an open application processor and Nordic offers a free to use SDK so it can definitely connect to your custom cloud if it supports either MQTT, CoAP, Lwm2m, HTTP(S), UDP or TCP.

Do you have this for nRF9161 which came with a onomondo SIM card?

finally the DK got connected to an LTE Network but still cannt be connected to the NRF Cloud !!!! Any idea pls ?
