Maybe this is too much of a pie in the sky idea. Ive wondered what it would actually feel like when you pair these two subs, the pb 16 ultras, against 4 pb 3000s ,2 in front and 2 in back. 2.0 is still the standard and you wont need 2.1 until you go to 8k. Make sure the cables you have are hdcp 2.2 thats the handshake thing that 4k uses. Other than that you should be good. I use fiber hdmi cables for longer runs. I think there is a benefit of using fiber for quality, but thats my opinion. I use Monoprice fiber and ruipro fiber cables. Hector Labra I hope you don’t have your AVR any higher than -5dB level for your subwoofer. You can clip it if so. www.avsforum.com/forum/113-subwoofers-bass-transducers/2958528-guide-subwoofer-calibration-bass-preferences.html
You dont need them. sonically the subs shake your couch for you. Bass shakers are traditionally used in underpowered sub situations to make it seem like there is more bass. Im old fashioned. use big subs and get big sub sounds. Obviously, if you are retrained by budget then use what works best for your room :)

Go slow. Find the drivers that you like the sound... SVS, Klipsch, Def Tech, etc.. then I would go USED. Don't get married early to one speaker without testing. Craigs list for real on the speakers your going for. Find the house that takes care of their stuff. If used isn't your thing, just save for your mains and front, and cheapo's for the rest. Fill in as money and sales pop up. Take your time. Its expensive to go all in at once. USED for your first AV as well. .. my .02 cents.
I understand the taking it slow part cause I have a real good receiver and Sony Tower speakers speakers and Surround speakers but I don't have a power amp and Subs yet....my Center speaker is good but I want more power ...I am reading on this stuff but it takes time like you said...thank you and looking forward to more of your videos
i have been running externals for over a year and it really helps out. i love my ultra center on 200 or 250wpc. I am really loving the parasound the most but i have been using outlaw audio model 2200s too
When I watched your older video of the pb ultra "what's inside a 175lb subwoofer", I could hear the police song playing in the backround and the bass sounds amazing. But for some reason the bass in your demo videos never comes across in the same way (I know it's not the speakers or lack of subs). Different mics maybe? I listen on headphones BTW. Thanks for the great videos, I know you spend a lot of time on them.
I used the same mic the rode video mic pro + in vegas and here in this video. That Police song has some serious bass. The gain on the mic is hard to get right. the camera preamp tends to get overloaded if i run the gain too hot. I usually run it under to be safe.
I always enjoy your videos. Thanks for always responding to questions! Even though I've messed with sound for years I feel like I have alot to learn so any information helps. Nice welcome to the club bud, i’ve had two pb16 in my theater for over a year now. Why are you keeping it at -16? I tend to put mine at -12, let me try -16 on Shazam tonight.
You get better bass than in cinemas. Because cinemas are soo big, they use PA subwoofers that have higher sensitivity but can't produce anything lower than 31hz because of excessive excursion. Also you can't watch game of thones in the cinema :D Also that about older movies ? That if i've never watched Avatar (2009) ? (even thou i watched it 13 times since then) i can't watch it now in the cinemas, i have to watch it at home. So Home cinema is the way to go! There are sooooooo many benefits.
@@thefreestylefrEaK Ofc you can't fit them in your home and you don't have to. The problem is that PA drivers just can't produce low frequencies because they don't have enough excursion. Yes they are very sensitive, and can produce high SPL that is a must in that large of a "room" but they are limited to around 30hz. And 30hz is not that low to move your guts. We can hear to around 20hz (have some defac songs slowed to 21hz and god damn that's DEEEEP) . See in order to create 115db at the listening position at 10hz, in a house you might need 8x18s SI or Dayton ultimaxes, bit in the cinema you won't have 4 subs, you will need 150 or who knows how many cone area to pressurize at that frequency. Yes most movies are fucked up these days because of the cinemas limitations and we who have home cinemas at home suffer from it (Talking to you DISNEY). So ye.
home cinemas play louder and lower because of smaller room..but really to me imo home cinemas with say a PB16 Ultra you gonna get the full low end frequencies cinemas can never do...that kinda starts to make cinemas really pointless now...and most cinemas in my country uses klipsch subs....peaky and no lows..just 30hz and up...just normal bass....i am disappointed
@@infrasonicrebasses4763 As far as i know, in my country cinema use the jbl cinema series. They are a PA driver, they have a paper cone so they can be super light to have high sensitivity, but don't have excursion because they will deform and break. That's why a PB16 ultra has lower bass, even the PB-1000 has lower bass even thou not that loud. If you have to pressurize a large cinema with PB16 utlras that have a sensitive of probably ~89db you are gonna need 3-4 or of those to reach the same spl that one PA driver will accomplish if the frequencies are 30-32hz and up. You cut the watts significantly resulting in less amps and less equipment. (cheaper). Of the the cinemas uses a 4x18 subs for the front and 2x18 in the back right. (weird positioning ) in order to produce the same spl those 6x18 PA drivers can do, they have to buy probably 50 pb16 utlras. So ye. Home cinema rocks ! Also you can't watch old movies in the cinema, and lets not talk about all the TV shows that have amazing sound like GoT.
@@Quetzalcoatl0 yeah manneee sure cinemas are loud..but thats like all they can do..if they can't get low..it ain't making much sense..its just shet really...why you going in a cinema which SUPPOSED to give you the full experience but no longer does that and is ever able to do that...home cinemas..and a PB16 Ultra...sounds far better than a cinema can and does what cinemas can never do...seriously low bass
Yo! Two days ago I finally setup my home theater and only got to test it last night. I calibrated everything until it was perfect and when I sat down to watch a movie I realised that all of the audio was only coming from the projector. I then realised that the projector wasn't ARC compatible. What do you recommend I do. Should I run an optical cable?
I worked in Fort Worth for a couple years, then I joined the Air Force, went to medical school in Fort Worth and now I’m doing my residency in orthopedic surgery in California.
Great demo as usual man! Really like that woofer excursion. I was pretty impressed with the excursion from those Klipsch speakers also. So how much business have you taken away from the local multiplexes with people going to your house instead! LOL
Quick question I'm building a 7.2 SVS Ultra system what would you think would be better for the rear? Two bookshelf and 2 surround for sides or 4 surrounds for sides and rear?
i love my surrounds. i thing if i had to do it again i would do 4 surrounds. the bookshelfs are great but i like the diffuse sound that the surrounds give.
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude Thank you so much. I thought that would be awesome to have those in back as well. Thanks again for all the great content and info.

My feeling, because THD is an SVS affiliate, those other companies will not want to waste their time sending him products. They might just think his opinions will sway toward SVS in a shootout.
im not an epson, parasound, sound assured, sony, or denon affilate and i talk about their products in a favorable fashion. My opinons are not influenced by payment. this is a hobby and not a primary source of income. I think its nice that people help out and order from the links, but i dont rely on it. Monoprice declined to work with me because "they dont do that" Rythmik, psa, and JTR completely ignored my emails several times. After a while you kind of just deal that they will never come around
@That Home Theater Dude - This is why I highly rate SVS. I don't have any of their products but they know how to keep the buzz going. I've seen reviews of SVS gear on channels with less than a 1000 subs. Maybe we as subscribers should start reaching out to PSA's, JTR's, etc. to send their products to you to review. They are missing out on potentially having10,000++ eyeballs watching a review of their product.

So ye.
@@Quetzalcoatl0 ???? wait what ?
home cinemas play louder and lower because of smaller room..but really to me imo home cinemas with say a PB16 Ultra you gonna get the full low end frequencies cinemas can never do...that kinda starts to make cinemas really pointless now...and most cinemas in my country uses klipsch subs....peaky and no lows..just 30hz and up...just normal bass....i am disappointed
Should I run an optical cable?
optical should help out. or get an hdmi splitter. It has to be hdcp 2.2 if you are talking about 4k content.
That Home Theater Dude which one do you recommend? Optical or the Splitter?
optical is the cheapest solution.
How do you setup your subs, do you like the way audyssey sets it or do you raise/lower Them?
Great video as Always
i use audessey as a jump off point. i finese the settings to near distortion then back off to make sure they never distort
All i can say is wow!!!
did you see the camera shake?
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude yes
Hey man just saying HI, hope all is going well!
Hey buddy! I should be publishing videos this weekend. i have several projects that have kept my interest in the last few weeks
Dude hope everything's okay it's been awhile since you drop the video
I am hoping to drop some videos tomorrow. I have been busy with alot of stuff. I will explain soon
Did anyone make 4 pb 16 ultras in a home theathre thats mad if someone did do it
Cool Parker shirt! I graduated from Parker in 2010. Did you go there or work there?
Cool man. Im in TRI 8 of the DC program. I just got to clinic. Where are you working at these days?
I worked in Fort Worth for a couple years, then I joined the Air Force, went to medical school in Fort Worth and now I’m doing my residency in orthopedic surgery in California.
Thats cool Joe. i graduate in april 2020
Awsome setup that is true some power👍👍👍
Great demo as usual man! Really like that woofer excursion. I was pretty impressed with the excursion from those Klipsch speakers also. So how much business have you taken away from the local multiplexes with people going to your house instead! LOL
hahha. not enough i suppose :)
you seriously gotta try Kong SKull Island
Man some people will listen to anything and be happy ! 😁
Super
I’m on pins and needles man!
That is what I am talking about!!!!
I see you are still runni g your RF7s with tour nee subs. That smart home theater dude!!!!
for now. Until i sell them atleast
theater grade audio is boomy, at least in my area... thats one of the reasons i got into home theater.
thats unfortunate. i have alot of great theaters in my area. i really like going to the dolby theater when I can
Awesome subs and great looking setup, should try them in extended mode
Hmmm , I think you can still use the pb4000, you can run a long sub cable and put it in your bathroom haha bathroom bass !
could help loosen up the morning flow hahaha
Whats your asking price for the pb-4000? Message me please
1500 :)
Congrats on the second Beast of a Subwoofer! I definitely agree with you on the "that's Overkill" thing, and like you said a Movie Theater sounds amazing and they have thousands of watts!! I hope to have a set up like this one day, I can tell that you feel as much as you hear by the camera shaking! I just ordered the Outlaw Model 7000x amplifier to power my front stage, and still waiting to win that Klipsch Sub your giving away! Hahaha ;) Oh and make friends with your neighbors, or the cops when they come...we like Kicka** Home Theater setups too! lol
Thanks SARGE
Dam I am jealous to what you have to yup like a theater to I what one to ?.
Do you own all this equipment? Or does the company allow you to use it to do your reviews?
I own everything. SVS sends over products and if i like it them I buy it. So far I have bought alot of stuff :)
I have two pb16s and aquaman that's all u need.
👏👏👏🤘🤘 Good stuff!!
I approve this tactic, flood their emails. i have tried
Why does no one do a review of any of the HSU Research subs? They are a fraction of the cost and the sparse reviews they get are outstanding.
good point. i'll reach out to them
Don’t look back... expensive but the reward is sonic nirvana...
Are you running your Klipsch towers as your daily drivers or the SVS towers? Just curious.
for now until i sell them
