I did find afterwards that he liked to bite onto one end while I pulled on the other, like a tug toy for a dog, so I think he had a little fun (I hope)
@@barrygomberg2524 Welcome! it's a bit of a mystery still - he started growling, hissing, and biting at his own tail. They suspect hyperesthesia but did an X-ray to rule out a break or a fracture. I believe they sedated him for the X-ray, and now he is on pain meds and the cone is to prevent him from damaging his tail further. I don't know what the plan is yet for him medically - we had a puppy recently who had hyperesthesia and they amputated the tail - basically it would have been a life time of pain if they didn't. But I asked if they might amputate his tail and the vet techs didn't think so because his case isn't as close to as severe as the puppy's
Poor Poncho, although I can't help but laugh at the situation 🤣 he can barely reach his toys, poor thing
