This is so confusing and it's hilarious that we have these debates- I really do need more orange cures to prevent people from saying that Cure Sunny is red-
Well if your favorite color is orange what it seems to me, you shouldn’t worry because most yellow cures look orange because they have the color orange in them.
Shiny Luminous’s classification as yellow never ceases to confuse me because her outfit is mainly pink and white, the only yellow parts are the small ribbons and her hair
She's yellow mainly because of her powers and her personality. The pink makes a good contrast to how naturally Luminous is blonde and bright, but if you see Phoenix Luminous, her pink is almost non existent.
@@kellyjohana516 Also Toei tends to put Cure Black with the pinks (because she is the only black cure) so to not have 2 cures with the same color in the same team, they put Shiny Luminous as Yellow
Personally I'm a monochromatic lover so when a design is 90% one color it makes me so happy and easy to look at. Finale is pure rage. Her gorgeous black hair would've been amazing with her design. And the fact that she gets this blonde treatment makes me have whiplash between her Civilian form. From what I recall Cure white is the only one who retains black hair in her transformation and it just would've brought this different tone instead of exclusively bright colors.
I love how before you released this, leaked images of some of the Shikishi PreCure cards have come out and they put Butterfly with the red Cures 💀 Butterfly is clearly pink. Also, I remember seeing Cure Beat paired with the purple Cures on occasions; that was annoying because she’s always been blue.
@@SillyCreatureSally Yeah Wing was with the yellows and Sunny was with the reds. Also Finale was with the purples. And Parfait, Milky, and Felice were with greens. Summer was with the pinks, Laura was with the blues, Prism with whites, Twinkle, Etolie, Soleil, Papaya, and Yum-Yum with yellows. I think those were all of the ones mentioned in the video.
Honestly I think a part of color classification that many people don’t talk about enough is how much other team members affect it. Without cosmo, many more people would consider milky blue, and heck, without muse, many people could probably also consider rhythm to be yellow. That’s also why I get a bit iffy on Finale since she has a very similar color to yum yum. I like that toei is taking more creative liberties, but often times they just neglect a very prominent color from their classification completely. I like that they introduced the secondary colors as a way to clear things up, but not putting passion’s sub as pink or black or not putting twinkle’s sub as orange or purple sometimes gives me a headache… I think color definitely depends on the theme of the cure too, like shiny luminous being a light themed cure, yellow makes sense in a way. Same with cure parfait having her rainbow color reflect in her theme. The only official classification I never understood was black and white being classified as colorless. It’s LITERALLY in their name 😭 Istg toei is so inconsistent…
For sure, I wasn't around for the discourse but I kinda imagine that there were arguments about Milky being the blue of the team in 2019 before Cosmo debuted
@@Violentinthedaylightnot many people, but I’m sure muse influenced that decision in some way. I was throwing out a wild example that may be a little unconventional, and it definitely made more sense in my head 😅 (Plus when I first got into Precure, for some reason I thought she was yellow before realizing she's white...)
Oh, hi, Leo! You basically inspired me to go with what's official about the colours. Despite the lack of green (let's go to the Emerald City!) it doesn't bother me that much.
Personally, I think that cure summer is a white cure, To me a rainbow is a certain order of colours that are displayed in the outfit itself (Like cure Pairfet) (Since a rainbow is a row of specific colours) Summers colours are just all over the place in no specific order, I personally see her as a white cure with multiple secondary colours, I love her design either way though
I remember when they announced the existence of Cure Ma Chérie and Cure Amour in the middle of Hugtto, and despite the announcement image putting Ma Chérie in a red rectangle and writing her name with bright red text, a bunch of people were all, “Oh, wow! Two pinks on this team!” Bro, no!!!!
I won't lie, the duo transformation of Hugtto was such sensory overload and their outfits are so similar that it took me a minute to process which Cure was what color.
Probably I think this because Heartcatch was my first precure anime, but I get angrier at watching Cure Moonlight as a Purple Precure, when she's actually silver :') I really hope in the future wil appear more silver and golden precures, just for cure finale and moonlight 😭😭😭
I think especially for cure finale its fair to factor personality and role in the season into this. Finale's elegant and ladylike personality/aesthetic is very much associated with purple cures as well as her being a late season cure feels very purple. I'll begrudgingly accept that she's officially "gold" but she's purple in my heart.
lolll not green being the Santa Claus tooth fairy color! Great video, and yes, the debates are fun yet silly. I agree with what you said during Prism, I've made peace with the whole color system since they tend put certain Cures wherever they want because of simple categorization. and it's really up to personal interpretation. I also like the introduction where you explained the reasoning for color schemes and color coded characters in the magical girl franchise. Totally feel you on Sunny and Wing being an exclusive orange club. 🧡 Lastly, was not expecting the shout out haha. thanks!
Me want Simple: Tropical Rouge has No Pink Cure Finalé is Gold Cure Parfait, & Summer are Rainbows Cure Sunny, & Wing are Orange Cure Butterfly is Pink Cure Milky is Teal
More actuall orange cures would be nice. My favorite colors are Pink, Yellow, Orange, Green. 2 of those are very underrepresented :x I love cure wing so much with my entire heart
Okay but you're absolutely right about Cure Finale being the most confusing, I never cared about the colours of the cures that much until her design dropped. Like, where is the gold. In the lining of her multicoloured outfit? That's literally the senary colour in her palette ???
i would LOVE for you to revisit this with the Wonderful designs. I’m at war with myself over Nyammy. I get that she’s supposed to be blue, but I just feel like she’s white 🙃
@@YOUsamisan i agree! i just know some people in the fandom, and i think in some cases toei as well go based on the background color of transformations/attacks or their “aura” color when they choose colors for the cures!
Toei did make a stand on what every Cure's image colors were in 2018 when they released a book called Precure Costume Chronicle. It gave commentary on the costume designs for every Cure up to that point as well as assigning them colors. As I recall, Sunny was the lone Cure given an Orange designation, Shiny Luminous was Yellow, and Felice was Green. Also, I don't have proof of this on hand, but I feel like Toei did officially refer to Parfait, Cosmo and Summer as Rainbow Cures upon their debuts, possibly adding that their secondary colors were green, blue, and white respectively. Anyway, I think a Cure's color has less to do with any visual part of their character design and more to do with their "aura", which includes stuff like the imagery of their transformation and attacks, their transformation item, etc. When you consider Shiny Luminous origins within the story (trying to avoid spoilers by being vague ^_^;), and look at her transformation, its clear that yellow/gold represents her. There's also an element of context. When Star Twinkle first came out there was a focus on Cure Star and Cure Milky as a duo, like many classic pink/blue Cure pairings before them. In lieu of an actual Blue Cure, Cure Milky took on that role. When Cosmo joined the team, Cure Milky was recontextualized as the Green Cure that she is. Cure Prism was sort of an "acting Pink Cure" to go with Sky's blue until Cure Butterfly debuted to properly take her place as the Pink Cure of the team. I think White Cures always get a secondary color, officially or otherwise, because a strictly monochromatic White design would lack the appeal and bombast that Precure is known for. Thanks for reading all this ^_^
Fun fact: On the Russian precure wiki, Cure Butterfly was referred to as red, and they are ready to ban all those people who correct the color in the infobox to pink, calling such people purists along the way
This video just popped up randomly in my recommendations. I didn’t even know Pretty Cure was a thing going into this and barely understood what was being discussed, yet I was invested enough to watch the whole way through. 👍 I feel like an old dad now.
finale’s design pissed me off fr. amane is EXTREMELY purple. gentlu was purple. whyyyy is finale barely purple?? that being said, i hope toei keeps making ambiguous color cures. character designs get boring when restricted to a single hue. i love all the yellow/orange cure designs more than i love the solid yellow and solid orange ones. also, you have to be BLIND to think sunny is red and not orange. the only parts of her outfit that could even be argued as red are her shorts and the trim on her dress. be fr.
I am going to be completely honest because while I do love Cure Finale personally, I can see why people are angered by her design because even I will admit that her color scheme is all over the place. 😵💫😬💀 If you want the fandom to recognize the color scheme of a certain precure, at least have them categorized in either a singular color or not having them all over the place like Cure Finale was. White is a tricky color scheme to work with and just because a certain color is more shown than their original coloration doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s their color scheme but yeah, it’s kinda weird with the color scheme debate, they really need to stop confusing the #precure fandom, it’s a bit annoying.
I really forgot about the Sunny debate for a second, though to be fair in the argument for red, she's been heavily grouped with the reds (even a super new shikishi art has her in there with them)
I wonder if you could make a color score that factors in every element... hair, percentage of outfit in color, civilian clothes, transformation background, device color... I feel like the designs are only going to get less clear over time so it might be the only way lol Also, Soliel doing the mihoshi yellow bit was a sentai reference, and its extreeeemely rare for sentai to have an orange member, so I think she was probably put into yellow just to fit the gag.
I'll be honest, I wasn't sure whether to put Cure Sunny in the orange or red categories. Red is technically more of an accent color, but her transformation charm being red (when all other cures that season had charms matching their main outfit colors) and her theme being fire and many fiery cures being in the red category (Rouge, Ace, and Scarlet), I hope you can see why I was confused.
The trio trio! Rosetta, Papaya, and Yum-yum. They are yellow but orange/pseudo green. Love em, but bothered me for a long time tbh. Now it’s my head canon team
A topic that I don't see anyone talking about: moonlight is silver and not purple, on the old official heartcatch precure website moonlight was listed as silver, and silver is the most dominant color in Design of it, not to mention that her attack from it is effered as "silver forte wave" if it her os a purpple cure, all tudo things on her that i mentindo Will be purpple nota silver
This is why I just throw the confusing ones into a single group. Yellow/orange cures, pink/white, blue/purple, and then teal is just “green but easier to look at” 😂
Oh wow, I absolutely loved this video. Color subjectivity is so interesting because culture and language influences how people view/describe colors which is probably why people can get so heated over something like colors of magical girls lol!
I've realized how deep it gets through the comments here! it's like there are so many methods other than visually that people use to classify the Cures as colors, I'm kind of mind-blown
the cures in star twinkle precure seem to be based on the CYMK colours, which would make soleil a yellow cure, but then milky would technically be a blue cure which doesn't seem right, plus madoka and yuni don't fit this theme :/ make it make sense 😭
I'm pretty new to precure fandom so this is the first I'm hearing that there's debates over which color some cures are lol, thank you for this informational video d(^_^o) excited to watch more of your content!!
I've never watched a single Precure episode or been involved in the franchise in any way, but I can FEEL the chaos of this color debate lmaoooo Cause like, I couldn't even be consistent myself in pairing the color groups cause sometimes the outfit color takes over the overall color scheme, and other times its the hair. Then the multi-colored ones are like a new ballpark entirely.
Finale is purple, if I drew a circle and said it's a square it wouldn't make it a square, if they wanted her to be gold they shouldn't put so many colors in her design
@JhoF her top is gold and shoes and her hair blonde to match it and she also has blonde details on the skirt She has more gold in the outfit than actual purple but you do you
@JhoF there's more gold than purple so not enough purple either if anything she got white the most in her costume judging by ur logic but official news are just fine to me Gold is rare and we might never get another gold cure so
Ok, I've watched this video so many times by now I figured I might finally add which color I personally put them in. I might edit my opinion as I watch each season, I feel that as you watch a season you start to associate a different color for certain cures. Cure Felice - Green Cure Parfait - Green Cure Milky - Green Cure Cosmo - Blue Cure Summer - Rainbow Cure Finale - Purple Cure Prism - White Cure Twinkle - Yellow Cure Etoile - Orange Cure Soleil - Orange Cure Papaya - Yellow Cure Yumyum - Orange As for Shiny Luminous, she's pink, if we're going by aura then she would be gold, which I feel isn't really a category. But definitely not yellow.
i feel like for me the best way to determine a cures color is to look at any items associated with them like their transformation trinket or what toei uses to represent them in the team line up. i feel like there is so much that goes into classifying a cures color
Yeah, using Yum Yum as a example of you look at the show and just the show, I would say she be orange with her dress design and a lot of her backgrounds being a deep orange, however all her trinkets, promotions and attacks use yellow
This is why I really love Delicious Patty’s designs, they have the classic trio colors but really mix them up with their secondary colors! Precious got that light blue and light yellow, Spicy is precious but reverse (the blue is brighter of course) and Yum Yum with that orange, red and green. Finale is an interesting one because I think she really only gets put into purple in merch and backgrounds so she stands out from Yum-Yum since they can’t make gold and yellow different in terms of base colors lol. I hope Yufu gets to design another precure series with a unique color scheme because it would be very interesting what the designer would come up with :3
Right, a little update: all the Milky stuff is here. The reason Toei put her with the greens is because Cosmo is rainbow. But, the rainbow category is too small, so they put her with the blues, which bumps Milky into the green category. A new edition of the PreCure Costume Chronicle is coming soon and I need to see it.
I remember seeing a video about Magical Cinnamon reviewing a Precure book released around the 15th Anniversary where Toei confirmed all the colors for all the cures up to HUGtto, so that should clarify most of the cures! (Even if I AM NOT accepting the fact that Black and White don’t have a color just because they’re the very first cures! That just doesn’t make sense 😶)
This was fun video. Who knew this was a big controversial in precure fandom🤔. I’m kinda interested of your thoughts of precure transformations outfits. Maybe make tier list of all precure transformations.
Felice: Green was my first guess when I watched it. Parfait: Yeah, my first instinct was green Milky: I feel like I would consider her blue because of her role as the secondary main character if Cosmo wasn't in the show, but yeah Green. Cosmo: Definitely blue with a secondary color of pink, her skirt is the only really "rainbow" aspect of her. Summer: Honestly, I just consider her pink much like how Cure black is "pink" La Mer: Blue because mermaid. Huh, she has a lot less actual blue on her outfit than I remember. Finale: I just consider her a purple since her personality is ... purple. Prism: I mean, her device during her duo attack outright said white... Twinkle: Yellow! Etoile: Yellow! Soliel: Yellow! ... but yeah, orange is understandable. Papaya: ... are Papayas yellow? I can't remember what papayas look like. Yumyum: Yellow! ... wait her design had way less yellow than I remember.
I personally classify Parfait as a green cure because most of her outfit pulls green/teal. Sure she has the rainbow sash, but that’s kind of an accessory over her dress.
What's really fun and validating to me is that I legit do this sort of very enthusiastic and specific rant about stuff nobody I know seems to care about.😊❤ Great video! I could swear Cure Finale was rainbow, maybe purple, but the blonde hair makes it weird. Maybe gold makes some sense?...😅
What stuck with me about Sunny for years is that at the beginning of the Smile transformations, when they put the Decor in the pact and their assigned color lights up, Sunny's light is red (even though there is an unused orange light). It's true that Toei isn't super rigid when it comes to this 😆 Side note, you brought up Shiny Luminous, and this topic reminds me of the debate way back about whether or not Luminous and Milky Rose are considered "Precure". Many thoughts there 👀 Anyway, great vid as always!
To me, up until hirogaru came out, i always catagorised them based on their items and if someone in show mentioned their color. But now we got Prism who wear half white half pale pink in her civvies, all of the things she owns (including cure items) is pale pink, she says she's white, her cure dress is mostly white, and her magic energy is rainbow. *confused black girl meme*
I hope we'll get more green cures. So far we have: March, Mint, Felice and Milky even if she's blue-green to me. It's not a lot compare to the thousands of pink, yellow and blue cures. Even Red and Purple are used often. I don't remember seeing a Silver cure 🤔White yes like Rhytm, Cure White and Summer but not this color. If the next Cures after Dancing star are a duo based on ballerinas; that would be nice. The leader is a guy, he would be silver and white, Cure Swan or Cure Elegance would be nice for his name. The second is green and named Cure Jelly, based on the candies in the Nutcracker kingdom; also a guy. The fairies could be a couple, one boy and one girl like Mipple and Mepple or Lappi and Chopi. Sounds fun 😀
Your video was very interesting and fun to watch ☺️✨. Usually, I enjoy pretty cure on my own and never interact with the fandom, so I wasn’t aware that the colors were such a huge debate 😂. Whenever I watch a new season I’m just super excited about their design as a whole !
the precure color war is about to begin...oh good and most of my fav cures are pink (exep cure sky) and (dont juge me) i love the pink/blue/yellow colors
For me a cure is the color of her powers or aura. I don’t understand categorizing a cure by her hair color like… most pinks cures are blonde and they’re not yellow, so why other cures can have different hair colors?
i've never heard of precure, i have no idea what any of it is however i'm so invested in this and i think i completely agree with everything you said . very cute cat also . later thought: when looking at the yellow/orange debate i feel like if green is an prominent or significantly prominent with yellow and orange it comes yellow- where if the prominent colors besides orange or yellow are red/white . that is jsut my opinion after this 20 minute video however but i feel confident
The official Precure book from when star twinkle came out it says Sunny is an orange cure. So I guess her and wing make a second rare case. But I also list Parfait is rainbow. The only thing the book list that I don’t agree with is them listing Milky as Blue :/ buuut I do love your account. I just found your profile recently and I like your account and I subbed :) But they list Felice as green but they did it because apparently they said green isn’t marketable but they really should make her a teal category! Like it’s a cute girl color too. But tbh the dual color thing is really interesting cause each cure has multiple colors. Like each cure has two colors. Cure Black is black and her sun color is pink. Cure flora is pink but has dark pink and white as sub colors. Each cure has 3 to 4 colors. They’re just usually different shades but for colors like white where there is no darker white they usually go pink or light blue. Best way to classify yellow cures is to look at they’re transformation devices or tools. If they’re yellow then yes. But sunny and wing are orange. The book classified I can’t find the link but toei released a book stating the colors. Also super sentai (power rangers but basically Toei’s boy marketing thing) they have gold a lot as a 6th ranger (mid season cure) lol Most of the time, they do yellow now with secondary colors instead of dark yellow. They do purple (twinkle), dark blue (etoile), yum yum is yellow also Sorry for typing so much. Love Precure and like finding new channels with Precure fans lol
Cure coloring is insane... Then again, I've seen people say Hazuki is a yellow Ojamajo, and Momo-chan is green... (her hair is closer to chartreuse, but she's not green!)
This is one of those videos I find myself rewatching every time I start thinking about Precure colors; it's just so fun and well-explained 😁 I will say, with regards to Sunny - I feel like there are 2 more factors besides just promotional material. Precure has a tendency to re-use color schemes across seasons (most blatantly pink-blue-yellow-purple, followed by pink-blue-yellow-red) but the only season with a similar color scheme to Smile is Yes! 5, which does have a red cure in the slot Sunny would later fill. Also, when Sunny transforms, her Cure Decor piece is...pretty red. That being said, I have to imagine if you took a picture of Cure Sunny and showed her to a non-Precure fan and said "Her theme color is red," their reaction would be something along the lines of "What are you talking about?!" (Personally I don't know what I would classify her as if I was forced to choose - I lean more towards orange, but on a meta level she kind of does seem like she was meant to be her season's red cure.)
Funnily enough the colour association with a favourite character thing worked backwards for me. I remember before watching and really getting into Precure (yes, that's how I spell it) and anime in general, I didn't have a favourite colour. But as I watched more I realised 'huh, the leaders are my favourites most of the time'. Basically Precure's the reason I found out my favourite colour of all time is pink💀💀
My way of looking at it is - the most prominent colour in the dress is the theme colour. So absolutely agree with Luminous being pink. Though I think she often gets classified as yellow for more technical reasons as she is from before the "pink leader" era and pink is often seen as "the leader category" (hence, Black being included with pinks ratger than Luminous). Wonder how that would change now that we've had two non-pinl leads and a non'lead pink cure. But I always find it funny when people see hair as affecting the colour. A bunch of pinks have blonde hair and I don't see people classifying them as yellow and then Felice is often seen as "not green enough" because of her pink hair. Also, I think Milky is debatable because her colour is a shade that is a mixture of green and blue, and from my experience it really depends on the person whether they consider such colour green or blue. Me and my mum often debate on that - there are shades she would classify as green and I would as blue. With Milky I tend to see her as either would work and she sometimes seems more blue and sometimes more green to me, so for simplicity sake I would agree with green classification. As for Parfait... I never could see her as green (there is only a small amount of green there) and always assumed she was put into that category purely because they needed to put her someone for puzzlun. If anything she is closer to light blue but I definetely think of her as rainbow - she's suppossed to be a mixture after all.
I agree with this. In fact, this is exactly why I think of Moonlight as a Silver cure (that plus her attack name “Silver Forte Wave” AND someone referring to her as a Silver cure in one of the episodes right after she got her powers back). Her dress is mostly silver, she was called silver in an episode, and her attack name has Silver in it, therefore she is Silver to me. (Sunshine’s dress also has a lot of gold and her attack name has Gold in it, but I can see her as being gold or yellow (gold is a shade of yellow to me), especially if Finale can be called gold). But yeah, I consider Cure Moonlight and Cure Sunshine silver and gold cures because of their outfits and more.
"So...she's rainbow...Happy Pride!" LOOOOL For me, - Cure Felice is green - Cure Milky is green (teal hue is on the green side) - Cure Parfait is Rainbow (although her background might be indicative of a green cure, I think they chose that color since it would complement the Rainbow and to simplify the background hue, maybe? Also her dress ressembles a parfait glass, that's why it's shiny and glass usually can be tealish blue) - Cure Cosmo is blue (officially she's rainbow but I think it was a bit odd that her overall color is blue but is not as much of case like Parfait which is visually tricky) - Cure Summer is Rainbow (It was stated, confirmed, cleared and sealed from the beggining lol) - Cure LaMer is blue (I agree that her focal point is blue and her whole mermaid aesthetic is base on the blue ocean and the other complementary colors of her sea life world) - Cure Finale is Purple (YES, controversial however her season's overall design is controversial enough. I think it's kinda of a stretch to put her as a gold precure, I even think Cure YumYum is more gold lol but I do think they tried to mix up a bit the classic pink, blue, yellow, purple cure by adding a more colorful palette. That being said I couldn't care less for Cure Finale) - Cure Prism is White - Cure Twinkle is yellow - Cure Etóile is yellow - Cure Soleil is yellow (yes her dress is orange BUT just like cure LaMer her focal point is her luscious yellow blonde hair something that they didn't quite accomplished for Cure Finale) - Cure Papaya is yellow (Also her design is kinda of a nod to Cure Bright) - Cure YumYum is yellow (her color scheme could throw anyone off but like I said with Cure Finale, she's just a yellow with some colorful mixed palette for her season's design) NOW, Shiny Luminous is very confusing since her color scheme is the same as Cure Peach, so should she be in the pink category) She's not an official Cure unfortunately so she gets a pass and I'll go with her background. For some seasons the background color is important, for some is the focal point color and for some their everyday clothes is indicative (which is why Parfait could pass as a green cure). ALSO, Cure Sunny is absolutely orange! Smile Precure color scheme is based on highlighter colors. Some Cures with many colors or different color shemes are part of the character's lore, some of them by being from another world, like Cure Passion being the first Red Cure and pink haired, their character designer said that they wanted to include black in her scheme to represent her past as a villain and now being part of her truth so we have to consider many things since every season has a different group of people working on it and some may take each cure color scheme as said before, by their civillian clothing, focal point, background or classification according the other members of the team. If you read all of this thank you! ♥
I remembered that they didn't made more green cures because their products didn't sell well compare to the others on their teams but I think green can be so beautiful! I would love a green cure with a design like PriPara's Falulu, Jewlie or Falala very majestic and otherwordly! 💚❇✨ (Cure Earth should've been GREEN lol)
Oh myyy this is such a fun video!! The debate continues... (we'll see what Hirogaru's sixth ranger is going to be haha). As far as my theories, I def look at the most overarching design colors and the backgrounds, BUT I find that henshin items are very helpful as well: for example, the star twinkle pens (blue for cosmo, yellow for soleil) :D Lastly, Finale is GOLD??? I didn't watch Delicious Party but I'm soooo confused haha
This was a fun video ^^ Im not usually into debates into Precure colours, when I first see the designs I go with what colour I see right in front of me, for example my favourite cures of Hirogaru Sky, Prism and Butterfly I definitely saw them as white and pink cures and I love the colour accents given to them as well ^^ Great video as always ^^
You missed shiny luminous in this vid. I would've loved to hear ur thoughts on her color. Shiny luminous is classified as yellow but she looks so much like a pink cure because of her outfit. Like cure peach or cure heart
The only precure thing I watched was Glitter Force when I was like 7 so I hardly know what you’re talking about but I couldn’t stop watching this video for some reason lol. Subscribed!
I haven't been as active around pretty cure social media recently but I always found it strange that a colour is seen as such a big deal. I do think that puzzlun had a strong effect on the view of colours. Some cures such as Sunny and Luminous were classified in a different colour merely because there were not enough cures of their colour (or in Luminous case because pink was seen as the leader colour) and some people took the classifications too seriously. I absolutely agree with the comment that says that the need to find one colour for each cure is limiting.
Finally got to watch some of your videos today and this one was a really good one. I love this discussion as I have had with my friends based on this. For me I usually like Cures to be one color to fit into the groups but I am also weird since I have color outfit and color roles. Like for instance, Nagisa is a Black colored cure no doubt about it but I say she's in the Pink Role of the season. Same with leaders like Minatsu, Saki (for bright even though that is Michiru's form and I will die on this hill), and even Sora. Just like how Honoka, Kanade, Mai, and Mashiro are in the Blue role despite being white colored cures except Mai as Cure Windy (Which shouldn't count since that is Kaoru's form and yes I do like the Kiryuu Sisters, how did you know?:) But that being said for me I usually go with color oddly by their actual outfit colors and hair mostly. Like Hikari wear promently yellow outfits so yellow is her color despite her cure outfit having like no yellow on it besides her hair or how for me I generally think that the debate with Ran, and the other yellows being orange is silly due to their primary yellow outfits. Although in Amane's case...yeah girl I love you in the season but my god your color scheme is so dumb. Who in the right mind though Gold was a color that was highlighted. For me I always say she's either white or purple. With me preferring white because I think that was kinda intended since her cure form looks completely opposite to her look as Gentle who had a purple color scheme.
shiny luminous is probably put with yellow thanks in part to the deluxe 3 movie, to separate her from the pink cures and blue cures during the plot, othrwise she would have ended up with pink, and that would have made the movie have black and luminous together and white alone, which would have been weird, maybe? and then it just stuck🤷♂
I always say Sunny and Wing are definitely orange. There’s no debating those. But when it comes to Soleil and Yum Yum they’re pretty up in the air so I consider them both yellow *and* orange if that makes sense lmao
Why did I get all their main colors right ? Especially that one that’s meant to be gold, I immediately looked at all the gold parts of her dress and said yellow/gold is her scheme
This is for new PreCure fans who don't knowwhat the PreCude color debate is! The Precure color debate is a topic of discussion among fans of the anime series Pretty Cure, also known as PreCure. The debate centers around the idea that each PreCure series features a color associated with the main character or team of characters, and that this color is often used to represent the series as a whole. Some fans argue that the "official" color of PreCure is pink, since the original series, Futari wa Pretty Cure, featured a pink-themed team. Others argue that blue is the true color of PreCure, since it has been used in many of the subsequent series and is often associated with the franchise as a whole. Ultimately, there is no official answer to the Precure color debate, as the franchise has evolved over time and each series has its own unique characteristics and themes. The color of PreCure is open to interpretation and can vary depending on the preferences of each individual fan.
Honestly the dual colours + colour variance is great for character design imo but it gets abit awkward when it gets to the promo art and characters need to be colour sorted...
So what the hell does Toei have to say about Milky? One moment, she's green like the Emerald City, the next moment, she's blue like Jack Haley's eyes. Come on, Toei, make your mind up. I always go with your views, so please make them as consistent as possible. Edit: This was before I knew about the "one cure per season" rule for merch groupings alongside the need for simplicity... I'm sorry :(
The reason why i love the precure Fandom is because color debates are are our most serious and heated Discussions
It could definitely be worse hahahah
and it always fun both to read, or being in discussion 😂. Often the conclusion is "It's just Toei being Toei"
It's wonderful to hear that you enjoy being a part of the Pretty Cure fandom! It's great when a community can come together and have lighthearted debates and discussions about something they're passionate about. It's a testament to the positive and inclusive nature of the fandom that even the most serious arguments are relatively benign and focused on creative expression and personal preference. It's a testament to the power of fandom to bring people together and create a sense of belonging and shared enjoyment.
@@doreimani Yes, it's always good to keep things in perspective and appreciate the positive aspects of a community or fandom. @@Someone-zn4dh Yes, it can be entertaining to read or participate in discussions about fandoms and their various debates and controversies! The thing I didn’t realize about Black, White and Luminous is that they still follow the Pink, Blue, Yellow color trio 😂 just subtly
This is so confusing and it's hilarious that we have these debates- I really do need more orange cures to prevent people from saying that Cure Sunny is red-
I guess it's Cure Wing to the rescue. I mean, he looks WAY more orange than Sunny does. Then again, so do Yum Yum and Soleil haha
@@SillyCreatureSally to this day I genuinely cannot believe “Cure Yum Yum” is an actual Cure name
@@thapelosishi TBH, I couldn't either when I first heard her name.
Well if your favorite color is orange what it seems to me, you shouldn’t worry because most yellow cures look orange because they have the color orange in them.
@@SillyCreatureSally I feel like Wing and Sunny are equally orange

I agree, it's way better than debating "Who's the strongest?" or "Which one is better?"
To me, it was kinda satisfying...

Can we discuss Orange Cure’s being completely ignored for years after Cure Sunny?
Soliel is too orange to be yellow ngl
I think the closest Cures we have to Gold and Silver are Cure Sunshine and Cure Moonlight
Yuri/Moonlight was even called the "Silver Cure".
Honey is kind of gold/ish. But I'd still say Finale is the only one containing true gold on her.
What about Wing, was he with the yellow ones?
I saw it too a couple of days ago 💀 I was too stunned to speak
@@SillyCreatureSally Yeah Wing was with the yellows and Sunny was with the reds. Also Finale was with the purples. And Parfait, Milky, and Felice were with greens. Summer was with the pinks, Laura was with the blues, Prism with whites, Twinkle, Etolie, Soleil, Papaya, and Yum-Yum with yellows. I think those were all of the ones mentioned in the video.
There's Even a Precure Shirt where Cure Rhythm is suddenly a Purple Cure, even do there's no Purple in her.
@@idksoyeah702 they should make an Others Card with The 2 Oranges, 2 Rainbows, a Teal, & a Gold Cure in One Group Shot.
Who would consider Rhythm to be yellow?
@@Violentinthedaylightnot many people, but I’m sure muse influenced that decision in some way. I was throwing out a wild example that may be a little unconventional, and it definitely made more sense in my head 😅 (Plus when I first got into Precure, for some reason I thought she was yellow before realizing she's white...)
@@Violentinthedaylight one time someone I was talking to considered rhythm to be blue (??????)💀
The SLAY in Finale's part... HAHAHAHAHA I'M DEAD
Like good for her, good for her!!!
Wh-How did they even...?
@@Someone-zn4dh It’s probably because a good portion of Ma Chérie’s dress is such a light shade of red that it can easily get mixed up for pink.
Macherie? A pink cure? Bruhhhhhh
Ma Chérie is definitely Red
I won't lie, the duo transformation of Hugtto was such sensory overload and their outfits are so similar that it took me a minute to process which Cure was what color.
Probably I think this because Heartcatch was my first precure anime, but I get angrier at watching Cure Moonlight as a Purple Precure, when she's actually silver :')
I really hope in the future wil appear more silver and golden precures, just for cure finale and moonlight 😭😭😭
When Parfait appeared and you said “this one pisses me off” I busted out laughing. 🤣
lolll not green being the Santa Claus tooth fairy color!
Lastly, was not expecting the shout out haha. thanks!
heheh I thought of your videos immediately when discussing the green Cures ☺️☺️
Me want Simple:
Tropical Rouge has No Pink Cure
Finalé is Gold
Cure Parfait, & Summer are Rainbows
Cure Sunny, & Wing are Orange
Cure Butterfly is Pink
Cure Milky is Teal
More actuall orange cures would be nice. My favorite colors are Pink, Yellow, Orange, Green. 2 of those are very underrepresented :x
I love cure wing so much with my entire heart
5:50 stares at Cure Lillian :3
Y'all I remember seeing people fight LIVE over cure finale
Okay but you're absolutely right about Cure Finale being the most confusing, I never cared about the colours of the cures that much until her design dropped. Like, where is the gold. In the lining of her multicoloured outfit? That's literally the senary colour in her palette ???
i would LOVE for you to revisit this with the Wonderful designs. I’m at war with myself over Nyammy. I get that she’s supposed to be blue, but I just feel like she’s white 🙃
I refuse to accept she's blue
@@meowtain9566 yeah no she’s definitely white to me. especially with the white hair pls
@@dizzy504 the white socks, dress color, armbands, and hair says she’s white with blue as accents not main color.
@@YOUsamisan i agree!
i just know some people in the fandom, and i think in some cases toei as well go based on the background color of transformations/attacks or their “aura” color when they choose colors for the cures!
Nyammys supposed to me blue?-
Toei did make a stand on what every Cure's image colors were in 2018 when they released a book called Precure Costume Chronicle.
Thanks for reading all this ^_^
ngl "Cure Prism was like the acting-Pink Cure" is the best metaphor I've heard all week
Fun fact: On the Russian precure wiki, Cure Butterfly was referred to as red, and they are ready to ban all those people who correct the color in the infobox to pink, calling such people purists along the way
Holy sheet. That's a bit much tbh
You guys are taking the colors of a bunch of sparkly anime girls way too seriously tbh
Eehh?? But that's... Just wrong
This video just popped up randomly in my recommendations. I didn’t even know Pretty Cure was a thing going into this and barely understood what was being discussed, yet I was invested enough to watch the whole way through. 👍
I feel like an old dad now.
haaaa I hope I've spread the word of Precure to you 😈
finale’s design pissed me off fr. amane is EXTREMELY purple. gentlu was purple. whyyyy is finale barely purple??
that being said, i hope toei keeps making ambiguous color cures. character designs get boring when restricted to a single hue. i love all the yellow/orange cure designs more than i love the solid yellow and solid orange ones.
also, you have to be BLIND to think sunny is red and not orange. the only parts of her outfit that could even be argued as red are her shorts and the trim on her dress. be fr.
I am going to be completely honest because while I do love Cure Finale personally, I can see why people are angered by her design because even I will admit that her color scheme is all over the place. 😵💫😬💀
If you want the fandom to recognize the color scheme of a certain precure, at least have them categorized in either a singular color or not having them all over the place like Cure Finale was.
White is a tricky color scheme to work with and just because a certain color is more shown than their original coloration doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s their color scheme but yeah, it’s kinda weird with the color scheme debate, they really need to stop confusing the #precure fandom, it’s a bit annoying.
I really forgot about the Sunny debate for a second, though to be fair in the argument for red, she's been heavily grouped with the reds (even a super new shikishi art has her in there with them)
@@doreimani they put Another Orange Cure, Cure Wing in the Yellow Card.
I think finale is either white or rainbow
Also Cure Earth is Purple, but her Civilian Clothes is Green.
I wonder if you could make a color score that factors in every element... hair, percentage of outfit in color, civilian clothes, transformation background, device color... I feel like the designs are only going to get less clear over time so it might be the only way lol
Also, Soliel doing the mihoshi yellow bit was a sentai reference, and its extreeeemely rare for sentai to have an orange member, so I think she was probably put into yellow just to fit the gag.
But now since we have Cure Wing, we can officially create the "Orange Category"
If so many things don't fit, maybe that's not the right thing :\
A lot of other seasons have that pink-blue-yellow trio going on, but this theme only almost works 😭
I'm pretty new to precure fandom so this is the first I'm hearing that there's debates over which color some cures are lol, thank you for this informational video d(^_^o) excited to watch more of your content!!
The good news is these debates are probably as heated as it gets ahahah thank you!! :)
I've never watched a single Precure episode or been involved in the franchise in any way, but I can FEEL the chaos of this color debate lmaoooo
Cause like, I couldn't even be consistent myself in pairing the color groups cause sometimes the outfit color takes over the overall color scheme, and other times its the hair. Then the multi-colored ones are like a new ballpark entirely.
Finale is purple, if I drew a circle and said it's a square it wouldn't make it a square, if they wanted her to be gold they shouldn't put so many colors in her design
Finale is gold and it's confirmed u can put her in purple category as ur opinion though
She's only gold because the designer said so and nothing else, but you do you
@JhoF her top is gold and shoes and her hair blonde to match it and she also has blonde details on the skirt
She has more gold in the outfit than actual purple but you do you
Still not enough gold
@JhoF there's more gold than purple so not enough purple either if anything she got white the most in her costume judging by ur logic but official news are just fine to me
Gold is rare and we might never get another gold cure so
Ok, I've watched this video so many times by now I figured I might finally add which color I personally put them in. I might edit my opinion as I watch each season, I feel that as you watch a season you start to associate a different color for certain cures.
Cure Felice - Green
Cure Parfait - Green
Cure Milky - Green
Cure Cosmo - Blue
Cure Summer - Rainbow
Cure Finale - Purple
Cure Prism - White
Cure Twinkle - Yellow
Cure Etoile - Orange
Cure Soleil - Orange
Cure Papaya - Yellow
Cure Yumyum - Orange
As for Shiny Luminous, she's pink, if we're going by aura then she would be gold, which I feel isn't really a category.

Parfait: Yeah, my first instinct was green
Milky: I feel like I would consider her blue because of her role as the secondary main character if Cosmo wasn't in the show, but yeah Green.
Cosmo: Definitely blue with a secondary color of pink, her skirt is the only really "rainbow" aspect of her.
Summer: Honestly, I just consider her pink much like how Cure black is "pink"
La Mer: Blue because mermaid.
I do not know any of those characters, but, does the girl from 4:46 have horse shoes?
kirakira's designs have animal themes, and cure parfait is a pegasus.
Yep! That season had a dessert/animal theme, and she's based on a Pegasus
I would totally buy a merch shirt with “but are you orange” on it 😂
What stuck with me about Sunny for years is that at the beginning of the Smile transformations, when they put the Decor in the pact and their assigned color lights up, Sunny's light is red (even though there is an unused orange light). It's true that Toei isn't super rigid when it comes to this 😆
Side note, you brought up Shiny Luminous, and this topic reminds me of the debate way back about whether or not Luminous and Milky Rose are considered "Precure". Many thoughts there 👀 Anyway, great vid as always!
9:30 But I see Finale as a Rainbow Cure
To me, up until hirogaru came out, i always catagorised them based on their items and if someone in show mentioned their color.
But now we got Prism who wear half white half pale pink in her civvies, all of the things she owns (including cure items) is pale pink, she says she's white, her cure dress is mostly white, and her magic energy is rainbow.
*confused black girl meme*
Well producer said that summer is white cure with tropical colors so i think she fits into white category more
Love the butterflies. Suits your style so much. Keep on slaying girl!
I'm sure the leader would have to be a girl. Having a boy as the lead would defeat the point of PreCure.
I have never clicked on a video so fast hahahah, lets discuss why toei hates green yasssss
Cure black is a black cure and shiny luminous is a pink cure in my heart

thank you so much! I hope you're enjoying Precure too 🥰
Your video was very interesting and fun to watch ☺️✨.
You’re like my favorite magical girl TH-camr lmao
Omg you should rank precure teams on who has the best character designs
I'm waiting for HiroSky's 5th cure to drop before doing this but I def have this planned 😛
I like this deduction actually since green is closer to yellow than it is to orange on the spectrum 🧐
Also super sentai (power rangers but basically Toei’s boy marketing thing) they have gold a lot as a 6th ranger (mid season cure) lol
Most of the time, they do yellow now with secondary colors instead of dark yellow. They do purple (twinkle), dark blue (etoile), yum yum is yellow also
Sorry for typing so much. Love Precure and like finding new channels with Precure fans lol
omg RIGHT?! I got some many pressed comments on my own precure color video! :,)
I definitely underestimated just how heated this could get 💀
I’ve always considered Finale a rainbow cure and be satisfied with that 😌
Cure coloring is insane... Then again, I've seen people say Hazuki is a yellow Ojamajo, and Momo-chan is green... (her hair is closer to chartreuse, but she's not green!)
These are unbelievable claims 😭
The true green Ojamajo was Nozomi Waku (who is a sign that Toei doesn't think green is a magical girl colour).
@@SillyCreatureSally Absolutely, but also her fate is a sign they didn't believe her color works
This is one of those videos I find myself rewatching every time I start thinking about Precure colors; it's just so fun and well-explained 😁
I will say, with regards to Sunny - I feel like there are 2 more factors besides just promotional material.
That being said, I have to imagine if you took a picture of Cure Sunny and showed her to a non-Precure fan and said "Her theme color is red," their reaction would be something along the lines of "What are you talking about?!"
(Personally I don't know what I would classify her as if I was forced to choose - I lean more towards orange, but on a meta level she kind of does seem like she was meant to be her season's red cure.)
This video was a lot of fun, super glad I found your channel!!
Omg I'm so happy TH-cam recommended me this channel, this is great! ❤
Some of the pink Cures having blonde hair is a great point that I forgot to mention, so truuue it's a very cherry-picked way of categorizing them
I agree with this.
I keep thinking Prism is a pink cure
Same
"So...she's rainbow...Happy Pride!" LOOOOL
For me,
- Cure Felice is green
- Cure Milky is green (teal hue is on the green side)
- Cure Parfait is Rainbow (although her background might be indicative of a green cure, I think they chose that color since it would complement the Rainbow and to simplify the background hue, maybe? Also her dress ressembles a parfait glass, that's why it's shiny and glass usually can be tealish blue)
- Cure Cosmo is blue (officially she's rainbow but I think it was a bit odd that her overall color is blue but is not as much of case like Parfait which is visually tricky)
- Cure Summer is Rainbow (It was stated, confirmed, cleared and sealed from the beggining lol)
- Cure LaMer is blue (I agree that her focal point is blue and her whole mermaid aesthetic is base on the blue ocean and the other complementary colors of her sea life world)
- Cure Finale is Purple (YES, controversial however her season's overall design is controversial enough. I think it's kinda of a stretch to put her as a gold precure, I even think Cure YumYum is more gold lol but I do think they tried to mix up a bit the classic pink, blue, yellow, purple cure by adding a more colorful palette. That being said I couldn't care less for Cure Finale)
- Cure Prism is White
- Cure Twinkle is yellow
- Cure Etóile is yellow
- Cure Soleil is yellow (yes her dress is orange BUT just like cure LaMer her focal point is her luscious yellow blonde hair something that they didn't quite accomplished for Cure Finale)
- Cure Papaya is yellow (Also her design is kinda of a nod to Cure Bright)
- Cure YumYum is yellow (her color scheme could throw anyone off but like I said with Cure Finale, she's just a yellow with some colorful mixed palette for her season's design)
NOW, Shiny Luminous is very confusing since her color scheme is the same as Cure Peach, so should she be in the pink category) She's not an official Cure unfortunately so she gets a pass and I'll go with her background.
I think Finale was featured as purple cause gold is just rich yellow 💀
This was a fun video ^^ Im not usually into debates into Precure colours, when I first see the designs I go with what colour I see right in front of me, for example my favourite cures of Hirogaru Sky, Prism and Butterfly I definitely saw them as white and pink cures and I love the colour accents given to them as well ^^ Great video as always ^^
ive never consumed any precure or splash star, and when you showed saki and i was like omg cute love her outfit! lmaoooo TT
You missed shiny luminous in this vid. I would've loved to hear ur thoughts on her color. Shiny luminous is classified as yellow but she looks so much like a pink cure because of her outfit. Like cure peach or cure heart
I talk a little bit about her in the end! tbh I still don't really know what to classify her as ahahah
8:27 she’s definitely PURPLE
Ik this is off topic BUT did you hear about Dancing Star Precure? It’s a stage show but is the first all male Precure team. I’m so excited
I did!! I'm looking forward to all of the content and possible merch we'll get from it hehehe
@@doreimani I’m just hoping Funimation will get a recording of the play and sub it 😭
I mean Crunchyroll lmao
Toe has robbed us of green colours ಠ_ʖಠ . But I don't mind duel green cures . I love the designs (・∀・).
shiny luminous is probably put with yellow thanks in part to the deluxe 3 movie, to separate her from the pink cures and blue cures during the plot, othrwise she would have ended up with pink, and that would have made the movie have black and luminous together and white alone, which would have been weird, maybe?
and then it just stuck🤷♂
The color of PreCure is open to interpretation and can vary depending on the preferences of each individual fan.
i agre with all the colors you chose :D by the way, toei does have an official categorization that happened in the 15th anniversary.
Oh dear, then they never stick to it 😭😭
@@doreimani yeah... there they say parfait is rainbow but they always group her with the greens
Honestly the dual colours + colour variance is great for character design imo but it gets abit awkward when it gets to the promo art and characters need to be colour sorted...
Cure Summer's colour category is pansexual, everyone knows this 😤🙏🏼 /j
EDIT: "HAPPY PRIDE!" IM CRYING
So what the hell does Toei have to say about Milky? One moment, she's green like the Emerald City, the next moment, she's blue like Jack Haley's eyes. Come on, Toei, make your mind up. I always go with your views, so please make them as consistent as possible.
Edit: This was before I knew about the "one cure per season" rule for merch groupings alongside the need for simplicity... I'm sorry :(
and now we have cure lillian. who is either blue or green. *screams*
Green bud, lets just take it
