Thank you so much. This is a great, clear, easy to understand video. I am sure you have saved a lof of people valuable time and money. May God Bless you sir!
If you tighten the impeller by hand you risk tightening it too much and stalling the pump. When that happens the pump overheats and the thermal protector kicks in. After you tighten rotate the impeller and make sure the rotor rotates freely.
Thanks for the clear instructions. A note for those, like I did, are having a hard time removing an impeller that won't budge.Bought a strap wrench-the strap goes around the perimeter of the impeller and breaks it loose without damaging it.
Thank You Sir. Very helpful indeed, and the only useful video here on the subject of opening one of these pumps. Time saving, money saving, interesting and crystal clear - well done, and thanks again!
Well done video. When doing this repair, make SURE to NOT lubricate or TOUCH either ceramic surface of the bearing seal. If you do, simply wipe it off before assembly with a clean paper towel and some common Isopropyl alcohol.
Yep.. sure can, use a wire clothes hanger to probe the impeller, a flashlight can come in handy. the sta-rite dura glas has a opaque impeller that make cleaning a breeze and is the finest pump built. REMEMBER to prime the pump after any pump repairs !
Should you use silicone sealer around the metal collar on the shaft seal? The pool shop said I should and it was used on the old seal? Great vid! Thanks!
a channel lock on the neck of the impeller is dangerous, the outside of the impeller should be used. takes a big set of slip joint pliers 'channel locks'
So, what do you do when your impeller wont spin off? You sure made it look easy on a brand new pump and impeller, maybe next time use a old worn out pump?
My pump 2.hp makes high pitched whistling sounds about 20 mints and goes away. 8 years old . Only services I have done is to change output adopter to the filter was leadking. Any thoughts?
Does anyone know where I could get the part where the seal plate attaches. It has the six bolts and when I removed the two bottom bolts, the inside of the threads broke. The seal plate cannot seal properly. need help
A rebuild on your motor should cost about 75.00 that includes a free shaft seal. search your area for your local pool pump motor repair guy with free testing Jay the pool pump repair guy in longwood Florida 32750
Excellent (old) video. Wish this was the standard format for "how-to" videos today.

Great video. Thanks for posting.
Awesome. At 5:07 you didn't put any goop (or plasto joint stik) on the outside of the housing for the seal before placing it back in the plate.
“Tap it from the back side pretty hard” umm yeah sure, i think i can manage that. Lol

You didn't show how to remove the inpeller baring
I was thinking the same ,I rebuilt one and couldn’t remove that from the impeller
Same here ..otherwise the instructions are excellent .. I’ll look for another video for that just to be 100% sure👍

How do you replace the impeller seal? You skip over that step starting around 6:09.
I don’t think he swapped it with the new one ,that’s the part that I needed the most and he didn’t show us.
Great explanation!!!
you saved my butt! I had all but given up
There is a way to replace bearings inside of that motor as long as the through bolts all come out!

Is there a small rubber O-Ring on the impeller screw?
Yes it comes in the kit
How do you know this is the repiar that is needed? When my motor turns on it just hums-- does not pump
Change bearings if that doesn't do it the motor could be burnt-out

NICE ONE DEAR
Anyone know where I can get one of those 10.5" bolts from the end cap. Mine was so rusted that i destroyed it trying to remove it
