Phone line trouble is basically the alarm panel's way of letting you know that the phone line is not connected or has been cut. Communications trouble means that the panel tried to communicate out and was not able to. Hopefully that answers you question. :)
Helpful video, but I’m having some sort of issue where my system is beeping for trouble but can’t access the error menu or any other menu. The moment I press * I get a long beep Any advice ?
Hello ryan I currently owned the house and it has dsc alarm system when I open and close the doors and windows it makes sound we didn’t get the manual to put the code stuff like so how am gonna put the code on it can u help me please thank u
Dergi, without the Master or Installer codes you won't be able to do much. If you know the Master code then you can reference our quick start guide for help - www.alarmsystemstore.com/pages/programming-quickstart-guides If you don't know the Master or Installer codes then I would consult the previous owner to see if they have them. If you can't get the codes then your only option would be to factory reset it and then you'd have to re-program it.
Well, you'd need to find out what trouble it is by following the instructions in the video then you can rectify the problem once you know what it is. All trouble codes can be accessed by pressing *2 then it'll either read out a full description of the trouble (if you have an alpha keypad) or a trouble code number (if you have a fixed numeric keypad). Once you find out what the trouble is then you can remedy it.
Simply viewing the trouble via *2 will silence it for a while, beyond that your options would be to power down the system or turn all beeps on the keypad off.
You can press the * or # keys to silence it for a little bit but that will eventually time out and it'll start beeping again. You can press *2 on the keypad and it should display what trouble is occurring then you might be able to fix it yourself. Most times the most common trouble that will cause it to beep would be a low system backup battey
This one is wierd. I have 3 DSC Z823 panels (1 text and 2 regular). Was beeping with trouble light last night. Phones off too. Called Comcast and discovered they erroneously took phone (VOIP) service off our account tonight (long story). They fixed, rebooted service, etc. Phones worked again and Alarm System working BUT yellow trouble icon still up (for Communications). Can something still not be fixed, or can I just turn that icon off somehow? Do I have to call my security alarm company (Security Alarm Corporation in FL) to get them to do it (they'll charge me $100 just to come out to my home!). It appears to all be working fine, but that darn icon is still lit which worries me. Beeping gone, just trouble light saying same thing (Communication).
Bonnie Burwell have you tired to powercycle your alarm system to powercycle your alarm system disconnect your backup battery then unplug the transformer and let it say unplug for 30 sec then plug it back in you have to reset your time and date if that does not clear it then call your alarm company for a service call
Hi, I know this was a year ago, but for anyone with the same issue, try this... First, I don't know any DSC product that has a designation Z823. That may be some QC type sticker. For most DSC keypads, you will have 3 emergency buttons, a fire, a medical, and a panic. If you had this sort of issue where your line went down and was restored, and now you have a communication trouble indicated, that generally means the system tried to call out and was unable to do so. The easiest way to fix this, is to call your monitoring company and place the system on test. Once that is done, simply hold down the medical button on any keypad until it beeps(usually 3 seconds). This will not generally make the siren sound, unless your installer specifically told it to. Doing this will send a medical signal to the central station, and also send any signal that was backed up from before. If you have a restored phone line, this should now clear your trouble light after the panel finishes sending all it has to send. Call back and ask what signals they received. That will tell you what it tried to send while the line was down. If all has cleared up, put your system back online, and you are done. On some older panels, you may have to wait 20 or 30 minutes for it to finish clearing the signals out.
i used to have a phone line hooked up to my alarm. i canceled the phone service and now i get a code 3. How do i turn off the code 3 permenately? Thanks
Gunman1628 is your alarm monitored if so call your alarm company and ask for a cellular device that will clear out your trouble there is no to clear trouble three
Whyme123 If all you care about is the siren alarm to alert you or your neighbors (aka a local alarm) you'll want to go into the installer menu to turn off the communicator. If you do still want a monitored system you'll need an internet communication module or cellular communication module.
Helpful video, thanks. Question, whatexactly the difference between "phone line" trouble, and "communication" trouble?

oh.. I thought pressing # or * will silence the beeping, at least up until techs arrive..
