on older Miatas, this is okay. Since the drain valves have rusted and disappeared. But if your Miata is clean, ONLY clean from the TOP DOWN. And use a pipe cleaner that long enough to completely coax through. Ive seen Screws and metal lingering around in cut sills, definitely flaps/valves in there.
great video! i accidentally knocked the rubber tube at the bottom off and struggled to get it back on. if you have a really hardened blockage be careful not to pull the tube out of position by accident.
We had the exact same issue with our Mazda 3. Sounded like we had an aquarium sloshing around in the car. Cleared the drain holes and sloshing sounds gone.
Once you clean them out, is there any way to clean the inside and spray converter or cavity wax to stop them rusting? Contemplating drilling holes in the sills via the wheel wells so I can do this, and plug them afterwards.
You could spray “Waxoyl” rust proofing liquid in there and re-clear the drains after it sets. If you remove the rear trim panels, you can gain access to the inside of the body panels.
Another informative, important, and easily understood video from Miata Man. Thank you, Sir.
This video helps really a lot!!!
Must be why one sees so many rotted rocker panels...
