This was actually really helpful, I have tried octane and one frustrating problem I faced is that how do I create material that I used to in cycles, like there is this thing called mix shader in cycles, that was actually helpful to apply 1st material to whole model, and 2nd material only on a mask that I plug it in fac value of mix shader, and there are various things, like in cycles there is very helpful node texture coordinate from which I use object mapping alot, I really didn't find anything on octane nodes that really frustrated, I would really love if you like compare all of most useful cycles nodes side by side to octane, like what is it in cycles, and what is it in octane and how it would combine with other
Blender devs just changed their shader model to better preserve energy, maybe the difference you are seeing in the specular model is that you are comparing the not energy preserving GGX from octane to energy preserving GGX in cycles...
Does Octane for Blender have the Standard Surface? Cuz I find that shader to be a bit easier to work with, and IMO it also gives better results. It's a bit of a closer comparison to the Cycles shader from the looks of it
The thin film feat of Cycles was introduced in Blender 4.2.
Cool good to know
Hey there, thanks for covering this topic, really appreciated!

@@1polygonewithme truee🥲, anyways, keep up the good work man, can't wait for your upcoming octane tutorials
try octane standard surface material its better than universal

It’s funny this channel made me use octane before cycle 😂 idk how to use cycle but did some great work with Octane
Great job! 👏
Hello,
when i export in alpha with shadow catcher on, I get white border in my image. what should I do to resolve it?

Yes it does I will be going over that node in time in my Free Octane Blender guide

Cycles is the best, no need for Octane
