    this was EPIC! My god you two had us in stitches with your witty comments and facial expressions. Am so glad you got to finish in without the headtorches. Looks like a beautifully brutal event and one that was great time spent with great company! I'll be honest I feel like i'd be a bit disappointed with a wooden medal after such an achievement but maybe the pizza at half way makes up for it?
    have liked and subscribed, I can't wait to see more from you! 😀😀

      Thank you Nic. You are very kind indeed! Glad you enjoyed too! You know what, I love the medal. Makes such a lovely change from the others. It really stands out. The lanyard is not great on it, but the medal itself is lovely. Genuinely a slice of tree branch!

      Yeah I've got a couple of wooden medals now and they are definitely different, I don't hate them and they are quite pretty, I just like the weight and clink of a metal medal. But a tree branch sounds nice! :)

    Great video. A pretty close echo of my run that day. I was only about 45 mins ahead of you, similarly aiming to get to the end before the sun went down. I also had the lull at about 2/3 distance. I was helped along by some very kind people. All along the route I got to meet some great people. See you in three weeks or so. Maybe start a bit nearer the front this time. It’ll reduce the initial queue. Nice one!

    Really good video mate! I genuinely have no idea how you're able to cover all that distance in a day - let alone run most of it! Very impressed! And watching this makes me realise that I miss exploring the Peak District and the Lake District which I did a fair bit of when I first moved up to Manchester! I'll have to make do with watching it on video!

    Great video, have signed up for the event in 2024 and it was good to get a glimpse of the course. I stay in Edinburgh and have just watched your video from your visit to Edinburgh last year at the Fringe, you need to get up the Pentlands this year, I think you'd really enjoy the hills 😁

      @@TheSundayPootle I've done 3 Ironman events, albeit a few years back now, 1 marathon and 1 ultra (Race to the Stones). Although I had signed up for the full event I had to retire at 50k due to blisters and swore I'd never do anything like that again. Entered The Lap because a friend wanted to do it and it just seemed like a terrific event to try and put the demons of Race to the Stones behind me.

    Great work Lee, fantastic result! I really struggled on the second half of the race and was a couple of hours after you, coming down those hills in the woods at the end in the dark was NOT fun! Loved the race though and thanks for video, it brought back some great memories! I'll have to crack on with editing my footage now! Well done to you and The Goat!

    I'm signing up this year, I was really worried as I'm a road runner....forgive me if I'm being ignorant but this feels a lot more chill in regards to what I'm use to I.e. 'keep a 8/9 min pace and happy days'....its so strange to see people stopping for pics and chilling on a race

    • @TheSundayPootle
      @TheSundayPootle  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not ignorant at all. Had the same questions before I went on these kind of crazy escapades. Yeah, in reality, it's a totally different vibe. Much slower pace in general. Walk up the hills. Stop in feed stations and eat. Rest of top of hills and take in the sights. No-one really asks you your time after an ultra. They normally ask, did you finish?....

    • @TheSundayPootle
      @TheSundayPootle  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Main thing to get used to is eating and running. Gels won't cut it. You need to eat proper food. So if you aren't practised in that, I'd start to introduce it now.
