This is awesome. As someone who is new to hunting, and in search of concepts to implement, this was incredibly helpful. I don’t have many people to learn from, and this felt like sitting down with a buddy who was happy to help. Thank you!

Probably the best glassing advice I’ve ever received

My biggest problem is I have a hard time sitting still haha. Always on the move which can be tiring in the mountains. Appreciate the tips on glassing. I was out on a trail early last season with my bow & stumbled upon a freaking huge elk. Looking for deer & the last thing I expected was to encounter elk, didn't have my call with me. I was within 20 yds, he was just off the hiking trail making a heckuva ruckus. Heavily wooded, I took a couple steps to get a better look, huge rack but didn't get a point count. Either way being solo I wasn't under any illusion of taking an elk with a recurve bow a good kilometer away from the FSR. Took another step & he busted me, crashing off downhill into the timber. Moments later he bugled from a distance. Quite an experience, got my ticker ticking ;). As far as mule deer go, I see them more often in my yard than in the wild.... doh.

I also had some close encounters with elk last year and it sure does get the ticker going!! Thanks for the support and taking the time to leave a great comment.

Thanks for the information. It's much appreciated for a green horn.
I hunt the east Kootenays, it can be tricky early season cause lots of boys have there eyes on the summer elk locations, then like a time bomb it explodes with pressure.
Horse hunting in archery season is something that's very prevalent and hard to compete with especially when the most the elk are on the back end of a 20km road closer.
Your better off setting up where there going to be 2 weeks after they have been pushed.
    Thanks again.

The low land is thick but there are decently spots up high and in the Sage
