What a big, good chorus. Excellent. Who is TAMU?
My community chorus (St Petersburg College, Fla. )performed it . A great work. Then heard from the front row the Florida Orchestra and the Master Choral do it a few years later.

Ich war ein Sänger bei diesem Konzert. Ich erinnere mich nicht, dass wir die Wahl, auf Deutsch zu singen hatte, wählte unser Regisseur. Ich denke jedoch, dass Gesang in englischer Sprache war ein guter Weg, um dieses starke Stück nicht-deutschsprachige vorzustellen.

Because it was commissioned by the Birmingham Festival in 1845 and first performed there in 1846. Mendelssohn composed it for both German and English texts at the same time.
