So today I decided to put Mikes brand new chainsaw to the test by felling the largest hickory try on our property.
Please tell me that you dont pay that dude to handle a chainsaw or fell trees for you. Textbook example on how not to do it :)

Doomed from the lack of aim and notch. Never once predicted the cut. The dependence of ropes etc are severely overrated
You have no idea of the danger you were in when standing behind that stump. At any given second you could have been hurt bad or killed right there. And there was no reason to get the saw pinched. I'm a third generation logger, i fell timber 30 yrs with a chainsaw. I started working with my father in 1957.
Please be safer out there, your family wants you to come home at night
i think instead of investing in lottery tickets you should buy some life insurance for mike in your name better odds.

This guy took what shoulda been like a 10 min cut tried to make it a 2 min cut turned it into a 30 min cut and just proceeded to try and section the tree off...... I hope this man did not reproduce
Looks like the size of the saw was the least of their problems.
Hmmmm, I never would have thought to wear the glasses on the back of the neck while cutting. Silly me, I put them over my eyes...

That’s why you make those cuts at a harder angle has the right idea but cut it at a 45 degree or better so when the tree cuts lose the angle is so steep it can’t sit back on itself! Just a tip great video I have that same saw they are great saw for the price! 60cc saw for right at 600 or less brand new! Can’t beat it! Cheers fellas stay safe out there 🍻

Hell yes a 391 can been running one for 9 yrs and stihl going. Best saw i have ever owned man.
You had a wedge and a sledge; maybe use them next time before the tree falls to direct it better? Looked like there might have been a little better opening just to the left (from the camera's perspective) of where it went.

@@JoesFirewoodVideos 391 stihl has a plastic crankcase. And that's what the bar studs are anchored into.
You can always cut the stump and push it back. BIG opposite notch but you're not up and running from danger instantly.
I think should of cut a wedge cut on top that would have given it room to open it up to make sure it was cut all the way through I've done that before

The only thing I would say is when he is cutting the fire wood sizes trying to drop the tree down maybe give straight and down so that it would slide down instead of wedging onto itself self. No joke what you had going on is sone crazy stuff. Keep it safe and keep making videos for us to watch!!!

I’m a beginner at felling trees but even I know if the majority of the weights elevated you begin cutting from underneath so you don’t pinch the bar smfh yall please don’t breed

You should have cut a notch on the top side and it would have dropped.
@@JoesFirewoodVideos I agree. Getting a tree hung up is never a simple thing and often requires some pull. Lucky if a come-along will do the job, but usually, with a tree that size, a truck has to get involved.
Sometimes. I have notched the top and then pinched from the under cut. IMO it is about how much of a notch to cut. Only afterwards can you make a good estimate. After it is too late, or a rare success.

*it would if done correctly* but is not the safe way in this situation.. buddy is lucky it didnt pinch and kickback. if stuck on the stump first step is slowly take out fibers in the notch (from the back cut) and it usually will roll off the stump and out of the tangle..but what do i know as a certified arborist. as well the back pressure on the stump is insane ive seen equal or greater trees throw the butt 15+ feet behind the stump. could easily kill someone
*fuck not wanting to here the "safety crap" your company is a shit show with death or serious injury right around the corner* , learn proper techniques or get out of the game your a firewood buisness not arborists, plently of guys are putting wood on the ground you could have for free.

um no... maybe instead of getting the truck finish cutting up those rounds and the damned thing would at least be on the ground, Ole mike looked far more scared then he needed to be, 2" of wood is all thats holding it, wade in there and cut it.

You could take that tree down quicker with a 13-14 inch bar joe. And you should be able to cut any 40 inch tree with this bar to answer the question asked in the title. Have a nice day

I wasn't seconds into the video and said "it's gonna bind up that bar".... sure enough it did. Good saw, but the operator needs to learn how to use it. Sorry, just being truthful.

That's a good way to be killed standing by that tree so close it's not a matter of if it's when. And you should also clean up you sourndes so when the tree falls you can run without anything in your way
