I really love the free sounds you provide and I was thrilled to learn about how you create them - but to be honest, I am a little disapointed, that this tutorial only covers the process of layering existing sounds (with slight processing). Layering is indeed an important part about Sounddesign by giving sounds more depth, but I wouldn't consider this a sounddesign "tutorial" - just because I can't open Reaper as well and get to the same or even a close result. I would love to see more Videos about that process!
Hey. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate the feedback. I try to balance videos of what my design process may look like with videos of me designing sounds from scratch. I’m still not very good at breaking down my process from recording, editing, and designing sounds into 1 easily digestible video. That’s definitely something I need to work on. If you have any ideas of particular sounds you’d like to see how I design from scratch though, I’d love to know. I’m always open to hearing people’s ideas.
@@daviddumaisaudio Hi David, really like your videos, including this one. The wet bubbly laser sound at around 17:20 is probably the coolest thing in it so I can see what Joshn't is saying, it would have been cool to get a bit more behind the process of actually creating that sound. Maybe even just a link to another video where you do something similar. Keep it up though bud, your videos are great!
@@username40000 Yea, I can see how that would be useful, but at the same time would drag out the video super long. But I’ll probably do a video about it. Thanks for mentioning it!
Nice video David! Spectre is a great plugin. have you ever tried the MCDSP multiband compressor? OTT is free, I know that 😅, but when I tried the MCDSP multiband compressor I really liked it, you can transform the sound in a very pleasant way. greetings hehe
@@daviddumaisaudio I have used Mc 404 in some sounds (One Shots) and in all kinds of sounds,is smoother and I really like Mc404, I can also modify knobs such as attack, release, knee, etc… OTT modifies the signal more aggressively, and without modifying the equalization parameters it makes changes in the sound (changes of more than 3 dbfs for example, depends on how you use the depth knob) although both modify the phase, Mc404 is smoother in shifting and more detailed. OTT only with these controls: Depth 30% / Upward 0% / Downward 0 % / all other knobs as factory default… OTT is making a volume reduction between the frequencies 50HZ - 5000Khz of more than 3dbfs having previously raised the volume by more than 5 dbfs… sometimes it's a little weird.. a significant reduction in mid-frequency, you have to turn up the M knob 3dbfs to balance it. OTT is free and Mc404 costs 233€. 😅 I am sorry for this huge text, I love to talk about these things hehe 😅Thank you for what you do, you are a reference for me. 🙌

It's very well designed. I think it sounds better than the original
Thanks. I appreciate the kind words!
redesign is better

I haven’t. how is it different than OTT? Do you use it for certain things?

@@aftertheearth_ Hmm interesting. I wonder how different it is from other multiband compressors.
