Great example of how effective that HLA root rake grapple is, Gord. I used mine a couple of times this summer to clear huge juniper bushes off an overgrown field at my brother’s property. Coupled with my L4060, it works unbelievably well to peel the junipers out by the roots and then transport huge clumps of them to the edge of the field.
Morning Dave! That's great to hear. I'll bet it works really well on the heavier, more powerful tractor. Hope you are keeping well and getting some time up at your property. :)
Morning Gord! I’ve always been amazed at how well the smaller frame Kubota’s like your 2610 work with attachments like grapples and snowblowers. To this day, the performance your old 2601 with the front blower still stands out as the best in its class by far! That said, when it comes to ripping out junipers and other brush and trees, you’re absolutely right that the weight and lift capacity on the cabbed L4060 helps significantly. I had done some similar work in old fields on my own property, but my brother’s fields were far more overgrown with huge, well-rooted junipers in a shale/dense-clay soil. I honestly thought I’d struggle to pull them out, but it ripped out even the huge ones out with ease. I was truly stunned at how well it worked, and I can still see mouth-agape look on the faces of my brother and two nephews. In the words of my one nephew… “that thing is a beast!” LOL! If I ever find time to get a channel up and running, I’ll post some video of it. As for time in the Highlands, it has unfortunately been another busy summer with ever-changing plans for the fall term due to the changing Covid situation. The next couple of months will be pretty crazy but I hope things will slow down a bit and I’ll have some time to get back up to the camp a bit more often in the late fall. Cheers!
Yea right GP! When you and Guy, 2 good friends get together and start a project and can do it in 2-3 episodes, I will believe it when I see it. Lol. Because when 2 friends do something together you know it just takes as long as it takes so you can be in the company of a friend. Have a great day Gp and Guy. Tell Guy that is a nice hat!
LOL! Good day Rob! Yup, we spend a wee bit too much time talking and sitting around the workshop table - especially when Huskie Bob drops by. But, that's the beauty of editing. :)) Cheers and all the best!
Good teamwork GP !! Like a momma Kubota bird feeding a baby Kubota bird, but with sticks and stones instead of bugs and worms. You guys did real good. Man, I GOTTA get a grapple... Have a great weekend my friend.
@@GPOutdoors Gotta smile...that's just the way it is GP !! LOL. I have the material to fabricate one, even the hydraulic cylinders...its just the time to dedicate to it is in short supply.
About (I believe ) a year and a bit ago you asked what other attachments to get and I suggested a back hoe with a grapple. Well as you've earned your junior excavator certification wouldn't it be nice if santa dropped one off to keep up the skills. Especially for the clumps of surface boulders. Nice choice of music on this video. Well suited.
Guy might be a good candidate for Precision Manufacturing's had a grapple set up. They make almost everything at their Missouri location. The add a grapples are an economical way to turn a bucket on a tractor into a grapple. Depending on the width of his bucket, he could put on one or two. I agree with someone else that it might be nice to have a trailer on the back of one of the tractors. Of course, you know both down to how much to spend on additional toys I guess. Lol
Morning Jim. Thanks for the tip. We've talked a few times about getting a SSQA conversion for the loader but I'll mention your suggestion to him too. Thanks!
@@GPOutdoors that would be a great idea too. I know Tractor Mike has them for sale on his website and it looks to me like most of them are around $1,000 and that doesn't even include shipping and taxes. And yes I know it's not sales and use tax it's VAT tax and that ends up at 13% when you combine the Ontario with the national GST/HST. Of course, if you have an exemption I guess that part wouldn't be an issue. Can you tell that I do accounting and indirect taxes for a living? Lol lol
Great teamwork guys! That was one huge rock, but you showed it who’s boss. Tell Guy he does have a great new hat. Very dapper out in the woods. Great drone shots too. Cheers!
@@GPOutdoors GP... Have you looked into renting a rock crusher. You could use the crushed rock on your driveway. There got to be some way to get all those rocks out of your hair.
I don't know GP, I think it may have been faster if you had kept your bucket on and just pushed the rocks into your neighbor's bucket? Good video. Best regards
Morning Cliff. That's a good question - I am not sure - it may have been. I find the smaller tractor digs through the earth easier and better with the grapple than pushing in with my bucket generally ( so many rocks under the ground).
Hey good day Michael. The hoses come included with the grapple. The ends connected to the grapple itself are connected with compression fittings and the loose end (to connect to your third function) will come with whatever coupler type and size you order. The hoses are approx 48", including the couplers. Hope that helps - all the best and congrats on the new implement!
All these grapples and leveling buckets why not just a good 4 in 1 front bucket? The same with excavators an 18” or 450mm 4 in 1 is the most versatile at attachment add a rotating head and the machine is fantastic. For over 40 years I have built roads , pushed scrub and moved timber with just a mechanical swivel rear blade on the back of a 245DT and an L3250. You blokes have got it so easy.
Morning Phillip. I have seen those 4in1 buckets but never used one. I hear they are very popular in England and Australia etc. Thanks for sharing the info!
Hi Gord! Great team work between you an Guy! I liked your “hand off” method using both tractors! It was brilliant and very efficient. Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
GP, just thinkin,.. Guy wants to justify a purchase of a Ferris zero turn, cause he's makin more yard to mow! Lol Looks good, hopefully yinz won't find any 'hidden suprises' !
Great work. Been using the heck out of my new 2610 too! So glad I bought in March before the supply chain problems kicked in fully. Nice to see you guys again!
I tried to bid on a tractor at online auction , and the prices were crazy high. So if I am going to pay almost new prices I might as well buy new. So I purchased a new Lx2610su with loader. Found your channel by searching for grapple loader . Really enjoy your videos.
Nice start on what looks like what could become a really nice grassy area. The tractor hand offs, the skill level needed and the great speed of the landscaping did a nice job so far.
Looks like it's time to use up more of Guys metal pile. You need a dump trailer that will run from the tractor hydraulics. About a 5x10 with 12" sides should be a decent fit for both tractors.
Aweomse video as always GP! Really enjoy watching grapple footage, you had quite the boulders in there for sure and quite a bit buried beneith too! You did a fantastic job with Guy clearing all that land and making that trail.. really turned out nice, I like how well you two work together keep up the good work your getting good with that grapple 👍🏻
Great job Gord and Guy !! You both work so well together. Thanks for sharing with us, it’s great seeing friends having a good time together. Stay safe, Fred. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
If you had to buy a grapple again, would you get the HLA or go with another brand / model? And sorry for the loaded question (no pun intended) but I mean like what would your be decision based on ease of use / hookup, durability, capability, ease of repair, etc but not necessarily price or even availability. I’m looking to get one in a 48 in my dealer just got in. He says it’s about 175lbs so my little MF gc1725 should handle. Plus I would not be doing nearly the level of project you do but pretty much just clearing brush, moving downed logs, maybe some root ripping and small Boulder moving. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks!!
You and Guy are inspiring me to clean the overgrowth on my hundred yard range... I also need to improve the back stop. What does Guy have for a back stop?
Hi Frank! That's great - hope you add it to your projects list. He has a number of hardwood cants he milled on his portable mill up on the front face and then a bunch of logs are piled up behind it as well. Good luck with yours!
Yes, it's great to watch you two actually doing some earthwork with the tractors. Yes too, I did notice Guy's hat, I like it. Where'd you get that one Guy?
Love to see people working in harmony....team work...5*s....👍

GP... Instead of moving those rocks around, why don't you try to sell them to landscapers or gravel yards?
It's worth a shot, but that part of the province grows rocks like dandelions!
