25:09 That's because the art work was made with Tim J knowing very little if any information about what the books were actually about, I don't know why exactly but some examples would be Say Cheese and Die's cover resulted in an added sentence in the book where the main character says he had a dream where he and his family were having a bbq and died after they used the camera. In other later stories like don't go to sleep, the giant monster paw/hand never even happened in the book, assuming Stine at that point was being pressured by Scholastic to spit these books out like hot cakes as quickly as humanly possible, so he did not have the time to go back and add in any snippets to validate the cover.
Thanks for making the S tier so exclusive. I've seen so many tier rankings that have as many S tier as B and C tier. It doesn't make any sense. It's S tier damnit!
I love the cover art for these older Goosebump books. I've thought of picking up one of the newer ones to try out, but the cover art is so terrible, so I just never have gotten one. I don't even know if RL Stine is still writing them or if he's using a ghostwriter.
Loved reading these books. Lots of interesting concepts, themes, twists, and lessons. Even F teir books have lessons like, be careful what you wish for, respect all life no matter how small, and correlation is not causation.
My local library has at least like over 25 goosebumps books [including horrorland] and I wish they had the OG covers but unfortunately they have the new covers and its not like I don’t like the new covers but us Goosebumps fans love the OG covers more than the new covers
I have the Goosebumps book Werewolf Skin in my Goosebumps book collection. I can't wait to find lots more of the Goosebumps books at some thrift stores. These are the coolest books ever. Sabrina Griffin
I really wonder how well Goosebump books would have taken off if they didn't have that awesome cover art? The cover art really enticed me to get them. Whereas I don't know if or how many I would have read if it just had plain or even terrible covers. I would see the awesome cover art and then started crafting a story in my mind of what the book could be about. And then had to get it to find out. The newer Goosebump books have terrible cover art, and so I've never bought any. And I don't even know if RL Stine is even still writing them as they could be using a ghostwriter.
Goosebumps was my childhood, and probably is the biggest reason why I got into horror. Anyway, I've only read some of the classic books because I didn't actually grow up during a time when they were on the shelves. I wanna get all these books one day and read them all. But at least I've been able to read some of the classics. They are the only ones that actually interest me.
I actually watched all of this and was thoroughly entertained. I have no idea what’s going on, but I was entertained! The mummy book cover reawakened some hidden memories in me. Now I feel like I MAY have read it, or maybe tried to. I just don’t know. I can completely understand the Goosebumps burnout, but are you a fan of his other series? I personally have memories of the Nightmare Room books as well.
Wow, thanks so much for watching! I honestly wouldn't blame anyone for skipping to the end on this video 🤣 And I wanted to talk about the books in a little more detail, but just didn't have the time. I probably should have made this a two-part video, or maybe even three. And yes, I like all of his other series, although to varying degrees. This original series is the best, but Give Yourself Goosebumps and Series 2000 follow close behind. I haven't read enough of The Nightmare Room yet or Fear Street (which is more YA than for kids) to judge them as a whole, but so far they both have good/decent titles. Eventually, it's my goal to read almost everything he's wrote.
Came across this video today and i liked it! One Day at Horrorland and Ghost Next Door are Epic! Good Choice! have you made individual review video of these 2 books?
I haven’t read any of these books in close to 30 years. The first book I ever read was THE GHOST NEXT DOOR and it left me speechless. Such an amazing plot twist that made me gasp aloud. To this day, it’s the only Goosebumps book I remember and I’m glad to see it ranked so high. I think I may buy this book just to read it again.
I like your tier list :D night of the living dummy books are my favorite I only read 1 and 3 but I liked 3 more I liked how 1 is dark and the cover of the first book but this is a good video!
These books are my childhood, because I am a 90's kid, and I was born in 1998, the first time I watched the series. I used to have a big container filled with the Goosebumps books, but my dad told me to sell them. You heard that right "SELL" my whole Goosebumps book collection. He told me that I don't read all of the Goosebumps books, but I told him that I do read all of them, but my father didn't care.... at all. Sabrina Griffin
Ive also not ever been into comic books or super heroes at all but Attack of the Mutant is the best goosebumps book OF ALL TIME. Beast from the East is 2nd, that ending was killer. Horrorland was great but the rest you have in S tier were mid.
My Top Five: 5. Night Of The Living Dummy 2 4. The Beast From The East 3. The Curse Of Camp Cold Lake 2. How To Kill A Monster 1. The Haunted School Don't know if this is a unpopular opinion but I honestly prefer the latter books (41-62) more than the earlier ones.
I love how you ranked all of them- my favorites are say cheese and die, attack of the mutant, one day in horrorland, girl who cried monster, be careful what you wish for, attack of the mutant, camp jellyjam, shrunken head
I agree with you that shocker and legend are one of the worst, and barking ghost and hairiest adventure…i would add deep trouble and you cant scare me to the worst list… i also didnt like phantom
Deep trouble actually does have sharks in it. The mermaid saves the kid from a shark attack at the beginning of the book. But yes the cover art is a lie in a way because I was waiting for a scary shark story but got mermaids and some weird one eyed squid monster
pretty good list! Love night of the living dummy 3 being A tier but I really like piano lessons can be murder and I’d atleast give it a C and I totally agree how I got my shrunken head being A that was the first goosebumps I read and that’s what got me into getting all 62 not to mention all the other seires
I made those Scholastic Book orders rich buying all of these Goosebump books. I was obsessed. Seeing the art for the next book as a kid! Take my $2.50 now!!!
It's a shame you didn't like I Live In Your Basement. I think it's one of my favorites. I think the first time you read it, you're really confused and think of it being a continuity error, that's why I read it again, and I liked it more the second time around.
My top 5 fav are #5 The Horror At Camp JellyJam #4 The Haunted Mask #3 Night Of The Living Dummy 2 #2 Night Of the Living Dummy 3 #1 Night of the living dummy
A Shocker On Shock Street I loved this one. It was a fun read. I liked how the robots all were. The twist was unexpected as well. But if it wasn't for the episode, I wdn've known. Piano Lessons Can Be Murderer I liked this one as well. I liked the pranks. Totally different then the episode. I loved it. Stay Out Of The Basement This is my most favorite book. I loved the vibe it gave me. I love seeing through the kids eyes. It's really good. Say Cheese And Die I like it as well. Greg is more nervous in the book then the episode to me. I liked how the police was not as mean in that book. The Girl Who Cried Monster I love this book. I think the tittles of the stories that she told her brother could've been a story by stine too. I had some grossed out moments thouen. To me, Randy wasn't as much of a coward then they made it seem in the episode. Night Of The Living Dummy I love this one. Only it confused me because it wasn't about Slappy. They barely show him. The sister was anoying though. She is one of thoughs siblings who are like "It's not fair, you get something and I don't." or "Since you have it, I should have it too." I know how that feels. But yah. Other then how it wasn't about Slappy and it's confusing because of that. I still like it. The sequels should've been about him wood though. Egg Monsters From Mars I like this one as well. It's a good easter story. I would've hate to be stuck in that room with all the egg monsters though. The sister is no help either. Ghost Camp I like the legends. It's scary how they were true though. Plus, the scary things these ghosts do. No no no. I would've ran away. She stayed because of her brother who didn't believe her. Putting her in danger technically. But it was still a good read. Deep Trouble They did show a shark but only for brief seconcs. I love how they didn't care about the money. I would rather let them go as well. I like the mermaid. He needs to make evil mermaids in a book. Night Of The Living Dummy 2 I think this one did a better job as a sequel then the first because as I said, the first was extremely confusing as hell. Why I'm Afriad Of Bees I loved this one. I get the whole fear thing. But i don't get why it was in the movie. I mean fear is scary, but not that much where it should be in a movie like the bees. Who would be scared of them. I guess maybe it did well but not a big part. One Day At HorrorLand Now this one should've been in the movie maybe. The rides could've made a cameo. The merry-go-round could've been a horror ride. But yah it's good. I think it was good that the parents joined them. I would not go on any unless my parents are with for thoughs rides. Chicken Chicken This one was a solid book. I really liked it. I didn't like how the mom wasn't any help. I think it was funny that they got turned into pigs. The Beast From The East Your right Monsterblood. This one is good. I didn't expect for the beast's to be friendly. It was all a game. It's like a croc doing the death roll to mess around with you when they're not hungry. Welcome To Dead House I loved this one. I would want to move right away from the house though as soon as I saw thoughs red flags. The brother was no help. Let's Get Invisible I liked this one to. The brother no help. Doesn't know when to stop. It's anoying. But still I like the mirror. It would be scary seeing your reflection trying to steal your life in the real world and make you get stuck in that world. The Haunted Mask I loved this book. I truly felt bad for Carly Beth. I get she wanted revenge, but was not the way to go. But it was a good book. The Haunted Mask 2 This one was ok. It was less exciting then the first but once again. You feel the empathy for Steve this time. He shdave found another way of dealing with things. The Curse Of Camp Cold Lake I really loved this one. I feel bad for the main character. To the point where she tries to drown her self to get attention it's sad. But the ending was scary. But i liked it. The Curse Of The Mummy's Tomb
I agree with you that it came beneath the sink was good.. dont agree that terror tower should be b… it should be c or d.. same with beast from the east

He still writes them, but I agree, the new covers kinda suck
The cover art in the new ones is horrific and so cheap… the amazing covers in the originals was a big reason we bought goosebumps.
Yeah can’t stand the new art
Tim Jacobus is the artist. Can confidently say he’s a massive reason my adult self loves both art and horror.
@@jg1335 Well, for most of them he is.
I can't believe you rank the Monster Blood sequels higher than The Haunted School
Loved reading these books. Lots of interesting concepts, themes, twists, and lessons. Even F teir books have lessons like, be careful what you wish for, respect all life no matter how small, and correlation is not causation.
Great for u to do this. These books defined my childhood and have been wanting to start collecting and rebuying them
Go for it! I still enjoy them as an adult!
I personally think that the none of the monster blood books are that good
My top 5:
1. The Haunted Mask
2. The Werewolf of Fever Swamp
3. The Haunted Mask II
4. A Night in Terror Tower
5. Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes
My local library has at least like over 25 goosebumps books [including horrorland] and I wish they had the OG covers but unfortunately they have the new covers and its not like I don’t like the new covers but us Goosebumps fans love the OG covers more than the new covers
I can understand why Chicken Chicken is in F tier but you have to admit the body horror is very well written.
I have the Goosebumps book Werewolf Skin in my Goosebumps book collection. I can't wait to find lots more of the Goosebumps books at some thrift stores. These are the coolest books ever. Sabrina Griffin

I think this is a best way to rank these books, because there are just too many and many of them are very similar to try and rank them by number.
Deep trouble actually does have sharks in it. The mermaid saves the kid from a shark attack at the beginning of the book. But yes the cover art is a lie in a way because I was waiting for a scary shark story but got mermaids and some weird one eyed squid monster

What you fail to acknowledge is the attack of the mutant is very well written
Bad twist endings seem to be a common theme. Almost like the books would be way better if Stine didn’t feel obligated to end everything in a twist.
That's true. A lot of twist endings are great, but not every book needs one.
I agree. I love how camp jellyjam doesnt have a bad twist.. in that there really were monsters

When are they going to put out the next collector's tin?
Awesome video, man!
Thanks!
Seems like the only way to classify these exactly is with 62 tiers haha 😁
Haunted school is B or above easily 😭 actually was so interesting in how the school was haunted. This was a very entertaining watch though ✌️
Thank you! And yeah, I catch some flak for my subpar rating of The Haunted School, haha
