COSMETOLOGY: PERM 9 SECTIONS FOR STATE BOARD

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 18 ม.ค. 2011
- Learn how to divide hair into 9 sections fast and easy. Class for hairdressers, Beauty School Students, and State Board Applicants to pass the practical Exam and get Cosmetology License. Make measurements with perm rod to be used: measure from the middle of the forehead and start dividing the hair from curvature point to the curvature point. To understand how far you can go with your sectioning, measure from the side to make the side sections. The back section depends on the accuracy of the side sections. Make sure to measure with the perm rod on the top, the middle and the bottom of the side section of the head. Secure the perm sections with butterfly hair clips, or large plastic clips. Learn how to make the partings of the nape and the crown area of the head for the 9 sections of the perm. Accurate sections help do a clean and precise perm wrapping which leads to a beautiful permed hair. Keep practicing on the doll head or on family and friends before working on clients. This training class is by Nazeli from BeautyHealthTravel channel.

You just explained this better than my teacher .
💯
Mine didn’t explain it at all 🙄 like not even a little and just expected me to do it like girl I’ve never done hair once in my life I didn’t get any technique or anything
Facts
This has saved my life when it comes to performing 9 section partings for basic perm rod sets. As a aspiring cosmetologist (Student) I struggled a lot with sectioning hair for perm rod sets which cost me a lot of points when when testing with my teacher. I just wish that I had discovered this video sooner is all.
you explained it better than the Teachers in my school
Thank you!
The 9 section parting is literally my biggest weakness
Samee I hate it
Same. ...
Don't worry, the test is easier then before. The best part is that you know exactly what is on the test, and all you need is to practice. Getting enough sleep the night of your test and getting to State Board early are a must. Most people fail not because they don't know the material, but because they panic, get their late, have lack of sleep... and all that interferes with student's concentration. I wish you good luck, just imagine that you have your license on your hand, and you will be fine
hey my name is christopher and i been watching your videos and im your biggest fan and do you still go to mannequin head school so yeah 😎 😎 😎
i passed my test 🎉🎉🎉
Congratulations!
Congratulations on your license! Do this video apply to CA? I'll be taking my test soon
Congratulations
@@tessbeautybar4792 how was your test??
This is one of the best explanations I've seen. I'll definitely be ready for my test in December if I keep practicing from this video.
Now I need to see how u roll them...for sectioning hair for each rod please.
Thank you guys so much for showing this video, it is a big help.
Thank u this video really helped me have boards 2morrow
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so very much! Just started Cosmetology. Our teacher showed us how to part the top portion then said "you do it". We have all felt lost. Plan on sharing your video!
This video saved my life and allowed me to make the money I always dreamed of, thanks so much
You are very welcome. Glad this video helped you!

Thanks you so much for sharing. It take shorter time than I do and easy to control.
Wow so nice, the new students abb this channel for help. I remember my test, was terribly nervous, I was feeling die. I'm glad that was 15 year ago. I don't know I'm enjoying to see this nice lady explain so well that process so excellent♡!!!

@BeautyHealthTravel yeah, definetly. I'm going to take my test in 2 to 3 weeks soon. I'm kind of nervous but at he same time, exited to get it over with!
I will have my Cosmetology State Board Exam soon, your videos have been very helpful thank you so much for sharing.
@hairlissa
Yes, I already have the finger wave demo called COSMETOLOGY: FINGERWAVE DEMO FOR STATE BOARD
The wet set is called "COSMETOLOGY; State Board Wet Set DEMO, 6 rollers, 15 pin curls on Finger waved hair"
Thanks for sharing, and best of luck in you cosmetology career.
Thank you!!!!! This made it a lot more sense to me!
Thank you for watching!
Thank you! I was really struggling as I am 2 weeks behind and my teacher was explaining it poorly!
You're very welcome! Thanks for visiting our channel!
I love it and I would like to purchase one. There out of stock. Would you have any idea when the manufacture will receive more? I appreciate your time and many thanks for this tutorial!!!
@msjay97 The clamps that work great are the butterfly clamps. They capture even the short hair from all sides of the section that usually stick up with other clamps. They also have a strong grip for the hairdressers' fingers, so they would not fly away from hands to the floor at home or at state board. The clamps used in the video are the different kinds of butterfly clamps.
I hope this helps. Always feel free to ask cosmetology questions; I will be glad to answer.
@BeautyHealthTravel oh ok! Yeah, we only have to do the state head. And other things. But not the perm. Wow! you guys have it tough! Now I know what to do if I decide to go to Cali! Thanks! :)
Yes i am currently practicing for my state board exam and this how we're supposed to do it as well.
Yes, of course, you can measure with rods.
@jesse6235 Oh, I am not sure. If Texas adapted the NIC exam, then, yet, this is OK. This particular one works for NIC, and California It is the national exam.
thanks for sharing what type of clamp do you use for your maniquin : ) do you have any suggestion on a good one to use for practice at home?
@alicelovesherjasper1 So, those changes are new? California used to do each operation separate, too, but now we have to section into 4: one section for color, one for color retouch, the third one for a relaxer, and the fourth - for relaxer retouch. We have to do a separate blow dry and curling iron, and the perm is separate on one section. We also have eyebrows and manicure, and a haircut. No more fingerwave or soft curl permanent, or disinfection, sanitation. Pretty easy!
I like the way you parted the hair
Thanks
In my province we only do Mohawk and one side for testing...I will try sectioning like u showed just for my one side. Thanks for sharing!
Arizona is just crown to nape mowhawk
@alicelovesherjasper1 The instructions on the paper are great for state board, you also get a large booklet for the practical and written (with sample test) when you get your state board test date after you apply for the exam. Follow all the requirements; each little dot is 2 points.
Thank you for these videos. Do you happen to have the updated info from Sept 2015 on proper sanitation practices during state board testing. Sma, trash, how to dispose etc. ?
very great tutorial best ever thanks keep it up
Thank you! Thanks for your support!
im doing my first nine section perm on my manniquin and having some issues with it, thanks for helping
Oh, I never though of that. Usually students rent a kit that has the labeled bottles, but, if you have one already labeled (it has to look clean), I think it will be OK.
I'm going to school soon so trying to practice before I go
You welcome!
Very explanatory. I will use this video in my class
Great! Thanks for watching and using it; my students use it, too.
I just moved from Illinois to Virginia and I haven't had to take a practical exam in 9 years so I am so rusty. These videos are SOOOO amazingly helpful. I have needed a good refresher and I will be watching them to practice for my practical.
U tube is awesome, my date is Monday, are all Demo done on3sections& pin curls on side,# a little help please & Thanks
@BeautyHealthTravel yea. everyone was relieved when they was telling us yesterday, we need the 4 sections one section for a perm(only 3 rods) one for a cut, one for a braid and one for a dye. everyone was relieved
Omg i love you this is amazing
Thank you!
This video was extremely helpful. I am located in MD. Will they let us use the rods as guides on the State Board? The 9 part section was one of my biggest challanges.
Parting is when you first start class my school taught this and there was no hairs in from the other parts
i need to know the order of the videos so i can watch in order please!
Un grand merci à vous
Je t'en prie
Well explained, thank you
Glad you liked it
@hairlissa Also Check "COSMETOLOG: State Board Practical Operations" for state board procedure videos
You do class for the state board
so we still section into 9? but only work on the middle section? 6 rollers?
Im going to practice this
@Cardiovasdcular101 Lucky New Jersey! It recently got easier in California, 9 sections are not a requirement now, but an option. At least that is a relief.
I have another question for you inregards to the NIC state board procedures. It was brought to my attention that when it comes to parting for the perm that the candidate does not have to do a 9 section parting for this procedure. You do have to section the area to be rolled, but it is not manditory that the hair be in 9 quadrants. If that's the case, how else could it be parted? I watched the NIC webcast for CA cosmetology and they did not specify.
question which state is this for im looking for jersey ughh i have my test sat........ ima have a break down..
How many rods are needed for Tennessee?
Do you have a video for Manicure/pedicure? They have more questions about nails and the theory part of the exam
I will try to find time to do them.
That is a lot of time used fur just parting. We in AZ state just need 12 rollers in the back Mohawk section.
I got licensed in California many years ago, and I am now living in NYC trying to get licensed and I have to take the written and practical all over again. I forgot a little bit of this since a lot of time has passed and its very different from California. Is this video for NY State? Thanks in advance!
This works for California, but if New York adopted NIC testing then it will work: to be sure, check the State Board Website for details.
Is this demonstration for the texas exam?
I ll watching you until the end
Thank you for watching! 😊
Nice demonstration and where can I purchase the hair clip that's on the right side of the womans' head? I like the open sides and it looks well made.
Sally's beauty supplies or online.
Good luck! Let us know how did you do at State Board!
BeautyHealthTravel
@alicelovesherjasper1 Lucky you! That sounds easier than California State board test.
@BeautyHealthTravel thats what our instructor told us the other day they said it was the new stuff for us, but i have a paper somewhere with all the guidelines but i lost it
Hi!!! For what state is this exam for ?
Now it’s about doing it faster. I have to take my 600s and I can’t section fast enough
Yes she did!
Thank you soo much teacher
You are very welcome
for our state boards we only have to part in 4 sections. one section for perm, one for cut, and i forgot what the other two sections are for
thanks for sharing ma'am
My pleasure 😊
is this the way TEXAS state board does it as well????
wow this is great ! but you are being timed. so i guess if you build up your speed this should go very fast getting your 9 section in?????
Oh and I am in Texas, renewal!
Did anybody do this? My final is in 41 hours. I cannot wait to practice this tomorrow, seems easier! Thank you!
Good luck!
I passed with 100 percent! I cannot thank you enough.
Well I want to ask that the all part of my nine section I can say that I can control the time that my teacher give it to me! 10 minutes!
California
Hello, where can I buy the white hair clamp on the right side?
online or in beauty supplies
@@BeautyHealthTravel online.
Thank You alot of useful information..AA++++++++++
Beliefly explain different career opportunities in cosmetology industry?
I will make a video about that; just give me time; working on a project right now.
Is this 9 parting still used in state board fir 2018
Not for California, but it is used in salons.
I cant even see my teacher in class. we did this yesterday with rollers and mine looked like absolute crap compared to everyone Els why.... I'm so discouraged
I am wondering my teacher told me not to section the whole head pecause it takes to much time but I feel more secure sectioning
Some states are allowing less sections lately for the perm exam, but for actual perm it helps to do the 9 sections.
BeautyHealthTravel I was a student at west valley :( wish I had stayed there thank you for these videos
New Jersey doesn't have to do that. Hmm, weird.
How many long is the rod your using I don't have one but I want to practice on my doll
The concave perm rods that I used come in two lengths: the one you see in the video and one other length which is shorter. Both of them could be found in any beauty supply near you and they are not so expensive, so you can start practicing. It is great that you are planning to practice even before going to school! I would like to have you as my student. Best of luck in your future career: it's a fun one!
+BeautyHealthTravel do you know any good online stores I can buy human hair heads ? I have two that are fake I practice on but I need ones I can practice with heat . By the way I love your channel it's very helpful . Trying to learn as much as I can before I go . I'm going to Paul Mitchell in February
lyrical babin Most of the dolls have synthetic hair and if the manufacturer has even one human hair mixed with it, they can say it has human hair; human hair is very expensive, so a complete human hair doll is almost nonexistent. You can search amazon for doll heads, though.
