Thanks for this was wondering what to do since the new tub I just ordered uses only 2 hots and a ground. Been trying to figure this out all day... Thanks😁

For tubs that only require 2 hot wires and a ground wire, we isolate the existing neutral wire by capping it off with a wire nut or applying tape to the end of the wire so that the neutral wire cannot touch anything else. You can also disconnect the neutral wire from the breaker output. This type of setup is known as a dedicated 230v system whereas the setup using a neutral wire is a split 120v/240v system.

Thank you for this. I never wired a 220 GFCI breaker before, and the connections for the neutral wires weren't clear, especially since I had to pull the breaker out of the box just to see where the terminal for the neutral wire going to the spa was located. Easy once you do it, but also easy to see how anyone who hasn't done one of these could get confused. Appreciate the video!

Is it a problem if you have a 60 amp breaker for a 50 amp hot tub?

The breaker is there to protect the wires from overheating when too many amps pass through. If the wires are big enough then you could have a breaker larger than needed for the appliance. Kinda like having a 20a outlet for a lamp that only needs 10a. . Hot tub breaker SHOULD be gfci protected though.
