    Man, 20 years ago, a mechanic couldn't work without a 1/2 wrench. Now I can't remember the last time I used one. Now a days, a 10mm is gold!

    I been thinking about an air hammer with that bit so I can bust in the tandem pins but never could find that bit now I gotta track down a matco truck who got that bit and a hammer! Also great for giving brake drums a love tap instead of a hammer laying down in thick snow lol thanks for this vid! I got this one saved!!!

    That’s the only thing that kills me now that Matco doesn’t sell Armstrong tools anymore. I had to warranty an older pro-torque ratcheting wrench and the replacement was the new 90tooth made in Taiwan “gearwrench”. So I paid $300+ for American made wrenches that now are being warrantied out for wrenches worth less than half.
    Really comes back to what Hamilton said yesterday. When you rebrand your tools your at the mercy of the original manufacturer. They decided to close the doors at Armstrong and now Matco sells Taiwan tools at the same cost as they were their USA made ones.

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Armstrong made some really great tools also. Sucks to see American tools becoming a thing of the past. Everyone wants to “buy cheap” and unfortunately cheap and American made won’t ever go together so when the “regular joe” chooses price over quality it always drives the market to go overseas for manufacturing. Sad thing. I wished every single tool truck would push to have American made tools on the truck. I know the electronics won’t be but at least the hand tools should be.
      I am bad about looking at labels. I had rather pay more and get an American made tool than pay less and get a lesser quality item.

    • @user-zt4yk1sm8y
      @user-zt4yk1sm8y 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think A J Manufacturing makes Matco ratchets(made in USA). Armstrong got bought out by Apex who owns gearwrench but Danaher owns Matco.

    • @AdriftAndAtPeace323
      @AdriftAndAtPeace323 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forged Steel Wrench
      Armstrong is a now defunct brand. Apex tools ,who owns fluke, Matco and kd tools/gearwrench , decided to close shop for USA made Allen and Armstrong brands. You can still buy overstock from both brands, until the stock runs out. but if you break them you’re getting an overseas gearwrench replacement

      Joseph Benjamin Saravia I buy my bits exclusively from Matco. I don’t care who supplies them for Matco. All I know is that I bust them bastards on a weekly basis trying to get rotors off and the Matco guy takes my busted ones and puts brand new ones in my hand no questions asked. I don’t have time to chase warranties on bits supplied by a big box stores or Amazon. I appreciate the customer service that my “Matco Joe” offers. My 6S Matco box was made inn1998. The detents that hold the big wide drawer closed are getting weak. That drawer has held several hundred pounds of sockets since 98. Instead of just repairing the detents on that drawer he ordered all new slides for every drawer and offered to install them. All free on a 22 year old toolbox. Got no time for Snapon fanboys that want to criticize Matco constantly. The best tool company is the one that has a stable and customer driven rep. I’ve been fortunate to have some good men as tool guys over the years and I purchased from various companies mostly based on the tool man’s character. I don’t care how great the tools are if the tool rep is an ass or unreliable.
