This is super! I've had this same idea and want to incorporate this on my layout on the mainline. If you do this same set up next year, I'd suggest taking out the tower at the end of the line, and put in five plasticville platforms. Start from the wall and go right up to where the track curves or to where you have enough platforms to hold the two cars. It would look so much better than just the train running up to the tail end of the platform. Your mainline has it's platform and the inter-urbans should have their own. If you google map the Jersey Avenue station (New Brunswick) on New Jersey Transit, which has two separate platforms for the same stop, you will see something very similar to what you have, except in reverse. The curved track goes off from the NJT mainline about a 100 feet and comes into the station platform while the mainline goes straight and has it's own dedicated platform. The curved track leading to the separate platform is where some NJT trains terminate while others take the straight leg of the switch, stop on the mainline platform of the same station, and continue on.
Thats a great idea. I actually have enough plasticville platforms to make that happen. That would look way better. This year I didnt run the MU train. But I have a feeling it will be back next year.( I do it different each year) I will definitely put this plan into effect. Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm so glad you like it! I'm excited to see the outcome. If you think you might want more suggestions or input along the way, Let me know! Btw I'm part of a facebook group call ''O Scale NY'' It focuses on Subways and railroads in and around the New York City area. I noticed you had some MTH subway running so I'm quite sure you'd like our group. Many of the guys have layouts like yours with both freight and subways running together
