    Damn you! I just bought a 686 2.5! Revolvers are the light sabers of the gun world. An elegant weapon...

    • @benushaft8069
      @benushaft8069 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's funny, because I went to this gun store today to buy a 686 2.5 that I had seen about a week ago, but didn't have the cash, however, the gun had been sold. So I ended up in this pawn shop and saw the 586, which I thought was a 686 and later found out it was this 586, for the same price of the 686 2.5. The plus is that I didn't have to pay it all at once.
      Also, I can't wait to see how .38s feel through this gun; there should be minimal recoil.

    Another Great Video my friend!! The first thing that got my attention was..... Look At All Those COOL Revolvers and a 1911. Really good information for your viewers who carry CCW. I am Loving my Les Baer and my Sig & Smith 1911's. I may start selling some things I am not loving so much. Not sure yet. :)

      +BERETTA9mmUSA Hey Sr. thanks for the comment, greatly appreciated as always! Great to hear the LB is working great and the SIG and Smith 1911s as well! I say if its sitting the vault and doing nothing collecting dust....hey why not sell one or two. But if they have some type of sentimental value or its collectible ... keep it...

    I live in Boise, so Milt Sparks built all of my holsters. I carry a SW Model 19 .357 to BBQs and Weddings and it is always commented on. My everyday is a titanium 38 special Model 65 Taurus. My sons carry Hi Powers or Taurus G2 in MS holsters too. They build an array of fancy leather but they are all worth the $$. Buy one piece that is the best that money can buy and you will be happy with it, or buy several inferior ones and throw them in a drawer when they disappoint.

    Is everyone so out of shape that carrying around an all-steel L frame with a three inch barrel is a freaking hardship? I'm five-six and a little change and weigh around 175 and I can carry my 586 L-Comp all day on my belt or in my Galco SSII shoulder rig under a loose shirt without feeling like I'm doing a chore. Same with my Ruger SR1911 10mm under a T-shirt in an ISP holster behind my hip or Galco shoulder rig under a loose over-shirt again. I don't know if people are just spoiled by all the plastic these days? It isn't a rifle or shotgun like a soldier might have to lug around all day, for goodness' sake--let alone a squad automatic. It's just a handgun! Even on long-haul vacation drives I've survived my 1911 inside the waistband. Not to sound too harsh, but If you demand all-day comfort, maybe you should just carry your flat, nearly-weightless cell phone and hope the police can get there in time.

      @Universal Kombat Agree. In fact I always have a shrouded- hammer Taurus .357 in my front pocket regardless of anything else I might be packing, if anything. A lot of the time the snubbie is all I'm carrying. Lately I've been trying out my Taurus Millenium G2 as a pocket gun. In my Riggs work pants, it actually conceals pretty well in a padded pocket holster. Thanks for the input. Happy carrying.

    I know this is an older video but im wondering if youve had any thoughts on the model 19 carry comp? Slightly lighter and smaller than the 586 Lcomp. You and yankee both said the 586 is awesome but too big and heavy for summer ccw so wondering if the 19 k comp would hit that sweet spot?

  • @Sedan57Chevy

    I finally managed to find a 2.5" Model 19 and, since the day I got it almost two months ago, I haven't carried another gun. It's been getting warmer here in Georgia since I got it and I have no intentions to carry a different gun or switch from IWB. The K-Frame with the short barrel is pretty much the perfect gun for me. And yeah, I'm still counting down until you do a video saying you've started carrying the 1911 again :P

    Another great video with some great thought and experience.
    I carry a S&W 442 admittedly as a BUG but some days it is my only CCW. I bought a Model 60-15 Pro Series 5 shot/3' barrel and it is a sweetie, totally would work as a CCW... but I'd be limited to 5 shots again. I think that I'm going to give it to my Dad for his 80th birthday this Jan.
    Anything above that round count in a revolver is gonna have to be OWB or a shoulder/chest harness, at least thats what I've come up with.

    That heavy weight and size is a big trade off, no doubt. Especially in states that are hostile to 2A like mine, I just conceal carry a 642 in 38+P with an extra speed loader in the summer months, it's great on hot days in shorts and t-shirt. Doesn't print at all. In the colder months I ccw a ruger sp101 in 357 magnum with an extra speed loader. Even the steel frame of the sp101 doesn't weigh that much and it's smaller than a K frame so easy to conceal IWB. I cannot open carry at all in my state so ccw is the only legal way. Sometimes you have to make the trade offs

  • @lastmanstanding7348
    @lastmanstanding7348 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    fnp or fnx 45. 14-16 rds vs 7 or 8? I know 1911s have thin slide width i have a few but round count vs comfort when life depends on it i will take round count. Honestly 45 is outdated no reason to carry one with 9mm ammo up to par. Love those revolvers though so i break from my own advice most days and carry one. 586 lcomp to me is perfect carry. I can conceal with my iwb but in my state its "carry" permit not "conceal" so that gives one options.

  • @Hawtload
    @Hawtload ปีที่แล้ว

    I carry a 6 shot revolver IWB, and the only reason I can is because I removed the leather from the holster that was touching the cylinder, thereby cutting the overall width significantly.

    A model 442 with internal hammer can fire all it's rounds out of a duffle bag or coat pocket without fail. 1911 you're only hope is 1 shot before jamming in those conditions.

    I used to think a K frame was too heavy to carry at 34 or 35 ounces but then I remember the 1911 I used to edc and it weighed 39 or 40 ounces. By the way JM Custom Kydex makes an IWB #3 for full size revolvers that is very comfortable.

      @@TheOl1911 I understand that. I asked because last May 2023, I handled a K6S 3” DAO, that I thought I could easily carry iwb. I was traveling and not sure when me and my wife would get back home from visiting Family in Colorado, so I passed on having it shipped to Georgia. I recently handled a few in Georgia and I don’t know what’s happening at Kimber, but the K6s quality was nothing like I saw almost 9 months ago. I’m in the hunt for the Pug 327, but I want it in my hands before I buy it. I’m over 70 and I see that we share many of the same interests in guns that I’ve seen in some of your videos. Thanks for your response and for all of your great videos. My favorite 1911 is my Colt Series 70 Gold Cup that my wife got for me for our 5th anniversary and we’re married over 50 years now. 1911’s are great!

    Can you do a video on your CC philosophy? I've heard you say several times you remove your firearm during the day. What's the point of CC if you're willing to disarm yourself at the call of a sign, or an imaginary law? Also, stop referring to everything as a system. A 21 with a 30s as backup is a weapon SYSTEM. A 19 with a 26 BUG is a SYSTEM. A model 60 with a 640 BUG is a WEAPON SYSTEM. A firearm on a holster with a belt and some ammo is NOT A WEAPON SYSTEM. Use correct terminology, don't be like the liberals who are trying to disarm you. Then again, you'd probably just turn your guns over seeing as how you're already in the habit of disarming to meet other people's requests.

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Cory Mihal I honestly do not. I do know a few guys at the range that carry one though. One guy did have the Desert Warrior but I don't see him anymore. The one guy I do know that carries a Kimber 24/7 and states it is reliable has the Custom Covert II. Nice looking 1911 and has laser grips. I know of one guy that bought the Super Carry Pro HD and it was a jam-o-matic he said. I would say if you get a 5" Kimber you 'should' be OK. But I would err on the side of caution if you are thinking of buying a Kimber with a barrel length less than 5". Personally if I were to buy a 4" 1911 I would save and spend the money on a Wilson Combat Professional series as those are proven to be reliable. I know a detective that carries a Wilson Professional and he states from day 1 not a single malfunction and its eaten thousands of rounds. Good luck!

    One thing I always recommend people who want to carry heavy firearms is to wear suspenders. The fit easily under your shirt and you can carry ANYTHING without your pants falling, lately I've been carrying my 1911 and 638 together just because why not? I don't know why people shy away from them, maybe because it's not "cool".

    I like your reviews. common sense without the bs. and , for me, I like the fact that you speak well and dont degrade the video with vulgarity and obscenity like so many of the younger guys tend to do. keep up the good work.

      I'll try to at some point...but yes I do get a lot of "hate" mail about the 1911 and revolvers. Not sure how me carrying a 1911 or revolver affects certain people. But I will try to do a vid at some point...

    Good video. Can you do one comparing them on the range?

  • @leerx7015

    is the L-frame on the 586 actually smaller in diameter compared to the N-frame, or is the cylinder just cut for 8 shots?

    • @jeeper999999
      @jeeper999999 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do u mean the cylinder diameter? If so then the 8 shot in the n frame is bigger, but mine is only about .2 inches in diameter bigger than my 686+ 7 shot.

    • @leerx7015
      @leerx7015 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jeeper999999 i'm referring to the frame (diameter from front sights down to the trigger guard. they look exactly the same size on the L and N frames...

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Seth Walston Let me see if I can borrow one from someone at the range. I knew a Private Investigator that carried one and he stated its one of the best production 1911s out there...he traded it in though for a Dan Wesson Valor which he states is far superior... but I do know a few guys that carry the TRP as a CCW.

    what do you cut about the Remington R1 1911?

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheVince1995 I believe that is a good 1911. I personally like the Colt Series 70 reproduction model but I had a friend that had the stainless version last year and he said no issues...it was a nice lookin plain jane 1911. He traded it away for something else just because he was bored with it...nothing wrong.

    Mind if I ask a question? Or two, do you know if this revolver comes in a K frame?

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alexi Baez I don't think so...L-Frame only

    • @flpnovr2
      @flpnovr2 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason I asked was because I've purchased a Smith & Wesson recently and it is very similar to the one you are showing on the video except that the grips have a small diamond in the center on each side and when I removed them there's a letter "K "showing inside them.

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Alexi Baez Oh i see. Yes the K/L frame are almost the same dimensions. The grip is definitely the same so they are interchangeable.

      @flpnovr2 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheOl1911 Oh okay, thanks for responding and answering my question. As you can tell I'm new to guns, especially revolvers. This is my first and I plan to mostly use it for home defense and practice at the range.

    Such a loss of velocity in 1" 357mag might as well just use 38sp. I like heavy so i love carrying my 586 lcomp and 629 vcomp. Aliengear makes a great iwb for 586 on the cheap better than leather.
