Having our main character and the preadator both be new hunters trying to prove themselves gives 4d chess vibes and it becomes a battel of wits not just strength.
I just love the fact the Frenchman, by setting a trap, they displayed a hunters intelligence which made the Predator infinitly more interested in them then the bait, thus there trap having the opposite desired affect.
@Trashthlete most do but this one not so much, from seeing other takes it seems like a young blood that didnt follow the proper hunters code as many times through the film they act out of character for a predator.
@Trashthlete thats fandom nonsense hes not going for honor kills hes going for the better hunters, a bear is more dangerous than a wolf, a human with steeltraps is more dangerous than one with the native tech level. this predator biggest mistake is underestimating people and taking necessary hits
@Trashthlete It honestly varies individual Predator to Predator, based on the writer for the story and whatever direction they want it to go. I'd say the Feral is almost as dishonourable to our standard tradition for a Predator as the Sup-Preds, but even they will 1v1 ya for a fair fight so... In the case of Scar of Broken Tusk I'd say you were correct they hate hunted weakened or trapped game, they live for the chase of the hunt. I feel thats the outline for he's character as "The Feral" though We've seen Stalkers, Hunters and even mad bad blooded killers, (and mutant abominations but we won't talk about that) but this guy is just that, feral and angry. I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of if not his first hunt solo.
Rick saying that’s a modern dog when the movie makers made sure that the dog that they had would’ve been accurate to the kind of dog that they would’ve had back then is honestly perfect.
33:13 lol I love picturing a predator workshop, with predators sitting next to each-other making weapons. “Hey Larry what’d you make today.?” “Just a helmet with a laser tracker. How about you Bill?” “A nuke.” “Nice!”
In the original draft of Predator, Billy was meant to share that he had a vision from his tribal elders warning him of the Predator, and that indeed his ancestors had fought a Predator before - and that was why he was so freaked out by it, and sacrificed himself at the end of the movie to let the others escape. Also Predators do eat, in Predator 2, they track it to a slaughter house, Gary Busey's character says "he seems to like the taste of beef". Also yes, that is the gun from Predator 2, that is given to Danny Glover. I love the idea of setting a Predator movie during a war, they sort of played on that idea in Predator 2, with the Predator attacking members of the two gangs who were at war in LA and it was damn cool.
@@MrUsoutlaw everyone misses it but during the end credits the drawing shows the mother-ship coming to the village like they did with Danny Glover in predator 2 out of respect not to kill them.
Two interesting ways to take a Japanese focused Predator story would be a heavy focus on those honour duels, and/or going in depth into the farmer origins of ninjas.
I would make it a story about the childhood of Yoshitsune, a famous warrior who was supposedly trained in battle by the king of the tengu in the Kurama mountains. Just make the tengu king actually be a Predator.
Uh, no. Absolutely no, cheesy hollow cornball. That's YOUR personal love.. The one related scene was good but got a lot of hate and that was QUICK. I like reptiles, lets put more reptiles in it, also maybe make predators origin story as a reptilian predtaor, developing through more recent bodies evolution designed.
As a Native American, I'm really glad y'all liked the movie and I'm also happy MOST the comments here about the movie are also pretty positive. I think this movie was very good, such a success and huge for Native Representation especially in the sci-fi genre.
I think the representation of the Comanche really set the stage for the action. It makes the film uniquely terrific, because of how the natives were portrayed.
This movie is so beautifully done, is such a shame it wasn't in theaters, it really should. Also something that I love is the fact that Naru isn't a badass from the beginning, but instead she's learning during the entire thing... Ahhh this movie is amazing 💜
Naru: "I'm smarter than a beaver." The beavers who built the dam that saved her life: "Gee thanks, lady!" I love this movie sooooo much. It's a damn shame it didn't get a release in the theatres. I would've loved to watch this movie on the big screen.
Something i would have entirely missed if not for Aaron, not sure if they mention during the discussion. During the film the girl tells the story about the beaver cutting off its own leg, and then her finishing the story with saying that she's smarter than a beaver. Aaron then mentions later how the Predator cutting off his own arm is just like the beaver, which he's right and would have missed that but its the movie calling back and telling us in that moment that yeah she's smarter than this Predator. Small detail, but would have missed it, and rather like that calling back
Aaron kinda misunderstood the scene actually, the predator didn't cut off his own arm to survive, Naru saw him activating the shield and pushed it with the spear so it'd close around his arm and cut it off, you can kinda tell by his look that he didn't plan for that and got surprised.
@@ratcicleking yeah it wasn’t planned lol. The predator didn’t mean to cut off it arm but it’s a callback to her saying “I’m smarter than a beaver”. Meaning she’s smarter than a predator.
That would be a great callback but I don't think that was the intention. She was trying to stab the Predator but he blocked it with his shield, but his arm was stuck in the tree so in blocking he inadvertently chopped his arm off. It was a clever way for the writers to disarm Predator of his deadly blades.
@@Cliffster420 but it still fits, he cut his arm off saving himself from that stab, just like the beaver gnawed its own tail off to save itself from a trap
This predator is interesting, he seems young. The way he's acting and reacting to things around him, it's like he's newer to the hunt. Taabe's fight against him was awesome and it was so cool to see how Naru ended up killing him. Guess she's new war chief now.
Agreed. He is called ,,feral,, and judging by his observations of the food chain on earth, i would say it was his first landing here. Probably even the first hunt, as we see he doesn't even have that much of an advanced tech, or even armor
@@praneethgunturu5905 he was a young unblooded, in earth age maybe he's about 18 to 25, he like sshowing off as seen when he was fighting the trappers, he gloated and even boasted how strong he was, predators from previous movies which are experienced killed with efficiency, he literally uses shield kills and lets himself be shot just for the thrill.
@@orlandoactab3034 you maybe right, but how come a apex beast (predator) who single shoted a bear can't even budge naru in the final fight. Its just heavy plot armour bro, admit it. I enjoyed the movie but they made predator look 🤡 while fighting naru.
The actors/actresses actually went through some incredible training for this move. Basically a boot camp aha. I love how important representation was to everyone involved, It’s so refreshing. And honestly made the movie so much better.
Fwiw, Naru’s throwing ax has some legitimacy - she practiced with a real ax with a rope for quite some time at the behest of the director prior to filming. She discusses using it and how natural it became in various interviews. 👍🏼
The youtuber Shadiversity who makes all kinds of videos about weapons, armor, castles etc made a video a few weeks ago where he tested the roped axe. I'm sure he could become more proficient with a lot more training but what it essentially boiled down to was that the rope slows down the axe a lot making it both clunky and less accurate. In addition returning the axe to your hand by yanking the rope is more or less impossible.
@@Slaskhask I'm a Shadiversity fan but I don't think he's always right. Yes, there are drawback. The axe is very similar to Chinese meteor hammer, it's not a battlefield weapon. BUT it's a quite effective dueling weapon.
oh so its Trachtenberg's fault we get her trying to use a damn ax to hunt when she has a bow right there on her back. i loved everything about this film EXCEPT that damn Ax's overuse
@@chengkuoklee5734 Oh for sure he is not the leading expert on all things when it comes to weapons but it was a fun little experiment nevertheless. The Chinese meteor hammer looks to work more like a flail as it uses chains and the chains are shorter than the rope used in Prey with a different and more balanced design that makes it easier to spin around your body or fling the hammer towards your enemy. Attaching a rope to an axe handle becomes very different though. Maybe if the rope was attached to the bottom of the shaft in a ring and the axe was double bladed it could easily be swung around like the meteor hammer, but the rope would still be a huge detriment causing drag once you start throwing the axe more than a few meters in the way she did it in the movie. Shorten the rope, attach it and throw it differently, and maybe use a double bladed axe with a spike as well and it becomes more like a missile object akin to the meteor hammer.
I love this movie. Not a high bar but it's easily the best Predator movie since the original I want more historical Predator settings. Give me Samurai vs Predator, Medieval Knight vs Predator, a posse of cowboys vs Predator. The possibilities are endless
@@syrus010 I grew up watching Predator 2 reruns on cable so it's hard for me to be objective, but I think objectively it's kind of a bad movie that has some really cool concepts in it.
@@Don-fw3nv social media and the internet comment section is pretty comical. "I like a thing!" "gahh you can't like that thing... it's garbage". As if that's going to change my mind this is what I wanted in a Predator film since 2.
I think the whole point of the Tomahawk on the rope was so she could retrieve it faster after throwing it, the part where she was missing the rabbits and having to take time to go collect her tomahawk was the reason I believe she did it. Could be wrong though 😅
honestly that tomahawk and her insistence on using the damn thing for hunting was my only sticking point of the movie. we see she can use a bow so why she doesn't use it just confuses and enrages me^O^
The realism of how difficult the rope would make throwing the hatchet in reality was not enough to ruin my suspension of disbelief, if that makes sense. I thought it was fine and a really fun idea. 😊
I like the homage they did where the Predator rises out of the mud like Arnie did. This film was a fantastic refresh for the series, the lead actress is just amazing and has very good on-screen chemistry with everyone. The music is PHENOMENAL! Sarah Schachner (composer for Assassin's Creed & Call of Duty) has done an amazing job for her first film debut. Dan Trachtenberg was a great pick for director, I've been following his career since he did that Portal fan film years ago.
The gun handed to the chief at the end is the one the Predator chief hands to Danny Glover's character in Predator 2, I love how it all ties in together, even in small ways.
I may be wrong but rewatching the scene where he loses his arm, it looked like she purposely made him activate his shield when she speared him and he accidentally cut his own arm off lol, be cool if that was the case
What I absolutely love about this movie is that it returns to that primal nature a Predator movie should have where our hero is stripped of any modern technology and has to use the environment against the Predator. I honestly wasn't expecting much after the last movie but this was the biggest surprise for me this year. Easily in my top 3 films of the year
Prey is really cool, taking it back to basics with a lone warrior in a forest. It's a shame that The Predator was so bad the studio didn't want to put this one in the cinema Amber Midthunder (the main actress) has such a cool name
It was probably for budget concerns but I am annoyed we only got one horseback fight against the Predator. The commanche became famous warriors due to how quickly and how well they took to horses, and judging by Taabe this tribe clearly has done so. Yet he's the only one to actually fight the Predator Commanche style.
Yeah I thought that too, Comanche were expert horseman and their skill on horseback was likely one of the reasons they were the last tribe to move onto reservations. But then again, adding horses to your shoot is expensive, time consuming, requires a whole lot more skills from your actors, and also I don't need to see a bunch of horses die, so....
I feel this is the best predator movie after the original. It doesn't need to be complicated, it needs a predator, prey and a whole lot of action and gore. I'm totally for another movie in another era. The vikings, the romans, greeks, mongolians, ancient china, ancient egypt, aboriginal australia, maya, aztec, byzantine empire, whatever you can imagine. Even WW1 or 2 would be interesting. Humans are such a violent race, with so many warriors in history, that you can literally just shove a predator in any form of history.
Not my favorite Predator movie but absolutely top 3. The choreography when Taabe was fighting the Predator hand to hand was so good I couldn't help but yell "YOU BITCH" when it went invisible after it started losing.
To be fair, it’s nothing the humans haven’t tried to do to the Predator lately. The Apache warrior “hiding” in the grass trying to snipe him with the arrow, the French laying traps to pin him down, and even Naru trying to shoot him in the back of the head. He picked up real quick humans try to kill with the advantage of not being seen; he played them at their own game with a better camouflage.
There’s actually a guy on TikTok that came up with the perfect idea for a predator film set in Japan. It’s actually a perfect story, I wish I would get made.
The predators face and mask wasn't CG, you can see it in action behind the scenes. The actor also struggled to do shots in it due to it being so heavy & the high heat while shooting at locations.
One thing I loved about this movie is her being a women isnt what made her unable to hunt, her inability to finish it and go all the way is what hurt her. Only one person made comment about her being a women, shes a good tracker, smart, and capable. But she just lacked the edge to finish it. And we see that over and over until the end shes finally able too. Which I really enjoyed about this movie. Which matches perfect with this predator Feral, hes a potent hunter can track, kill, and finish the hunt, but its a new area, new prey, and as a habit of most predators their pride, and arrogance as top hunters causes their downfall, while with her, its her lack of confidence that hurts her. Really loved this movie.
Billy was half-Sioux and half-Italian in the novelization but in the novel he was also a psychic, so they can just ignore that and make the character a descendent of Naru's tribe.
On the predator home world there are 2 biomes. The forest side and the desert side. The predators we've seen before are from the forest. This is called a feral predator. Their skin is darker to fight the sun, their dreads are longer to cool them down. The bigger teeth are for chewing bones (animals in deserts eat bones cause food is hard to come by)
I would love to see a completely alien world Predator movie. No humans, but maybe at the end of the movie it shows their ship arriving at Earth. But have the whole movie show the trials and tribulations of a young predator on an alien world, maybe it starts with a pack and by the end is a sole survivor.
ive been saying this for years we need to see what its like on their planet, why they all look so different how they crafted their weapons how they came to be a hunting race etc
As much as I loved the callback it confused me greatly when I seen it, then I just accepted that the original story of the gun was out the window which made me sad since I liked Greyback's backstory
I loved this movie so much. And trust me it gets better after repeat viewings. This is definitely a worthy sequel and easily the best since the original. Subtle details I loved in this was when her brother was fighting the Predator and actually winning and Predator goes invisible the brother yells something. I heard it was pretty much Comanche for cheater. So awesome.
@@522abet - It sounds like from your comment you've watched the movie repeated times. Here's a subtle detail I missed: How did Taabe, Naru's brother, get Predator's weapon? He appears on horseback and clubs Predator with it, preventing it from killing the dog, and then Taabe flies off his horse and spears Predator with it. How did he get it?
@@NeverGiddy That’s a good question. I’m not sure. It seems like the Predator didn’t have the weapon on him in that scene so I’m guessing he had put it down somewhere and Taabe retrieved it. I don’t know but don’t really care. The first Predator movie had plenty of scene that made no sense but in the end it’s an alien movie so a certain degree of logic can get thrown out the window.
@@522abet - Since you've seen the movie multiple times I thought you'd remember the last time Predator's club/spear weapon is seen prior to Taabe using it. Predator throws it through one of the Frenchmen running away and it half way penetrates a tree that is near where Naru and Taabe were tied up as bait. After Naru frees them, Taabe says he's going to look for a horse. The next time you see him he has a horse and Predator's weapon. He arrives like a surprise helicopter making no noise, clubs Predator, then puts the weapon in a convenient holder he has for it on the horse. He learned to use the weapon. While riding he expanded it to full spear mode. He then performs a leap through the air, achieving hangtime equivalent to what you expect on the moon, throws the weapon, mid air, 90 degrees opposite of all of his momentum, and, with no leverage at all, somehow fully penetrates Predator's body with it. Logic is important, but it isn't important to children. This movie was written by children for children. If we are expected to abandon logic, then why not, during the final battle, just have Naru hover over Predator's head, then urinate on, so we could watch it melt like the Wicked Witch of the West did in the Wizard of Oz. The number of continuity errors in this movie is incredible. The absence of logic profound. I have seen the original Predator movie about twenty times over the years. Any silliness in that movie involved the gorillas Dutch's team were after. It is a very logical movie. The only failing I can think of is the "mud as cover" wouldn't have worked. I'll give them that. It makes more sense than a magical flower that will instantly lower your body temperature without any of the downsides of hypothermia, like immobility, unconsciousness, followed by death. Yeah, that's great writing alright. I can seen why everyone loved this movie.
There was a LOT of hate from the Internet on this movie. Most of it revolved around "a tiny girl killed a Predator when a whole squad of commandos couldn't? Mary sue, wahhhhh". I really think those people just didn't pay attention to the movie. The Predator is a youngblood, who hasn't undergone a trial to become "Blooded". Their trial is akin to a rite of passage to becoming a man, or growing up and socially being recognized as an adult. This is shown by his use of a bolt caster instead of a plasma caster. Completing his trial and becoming blooded is what earns him a plasma caster that we see in the other Predator films. I haven't seen it completely confirmed, but I'm fairly certain that this trip to Earth was his test to become blooded. The tribe was doing the same with Taabe, Naru's brother. Naru even goes through her own trails throughout the movie. Also, throughout the whole movie the Predator gets injured in each of his battles due to his aggressive and reckless way of hunting. By the end of the movie he had been shot with arrows, slashed, stabbed, completely speared through the chest, and had chunks of flesh ripped off of him from the Grizzly fight. He was weak and slow and no where near the top of his game. Naru is shown to be smart, persistent and incredibly determined to learn how to hunt and succeed despite her size and stature. She doesn't stop improving and we are shown that throughout. At the beginning she struggled to keep up with her tribe members but had shown natural skill. As time went on she got better and better. By the time she fought the Predator she had not only improved her skills greatly, but she was already a naturally clever hunter and was good at using the environment to her advantage. This is why she won the fight, not because some Director decided "woman good, woman best at everything for no reason". People cry for writers to write QUALITY female leads instead of the typical Mary Sue of modern movies. And what happens when we finally get one? People complain. The bear fight is one of the craziest feats of strength in any Predator or AvP movie. Not only did the Predator kill the bear with a single punch, but he lifted the entire bear over his head. There's few scenes in any of the other movies that show Predators to be that strong. I lost my shit the first time I watched the fight. Regarding what you guys mentioned about how Predators feel about keeping their hunts fair, they actually an Honor Code they follow to maintain the spirit of the hunt. This Predator is young and reckless but still follows many of those rules. The main ones would be maintaining odds with equipment, making sure the prey can at least defend themselves. Those who they find worthy will often be shown mercy because of how well they fought. They won't harm the innocent. So if you run into the Predator and you are unarmed and make yourself vulnerable and non-threatening, they will not kill you (most of the time). If their prey is fighting someone and has been injured by another party the Predator will abandon the hunt because there is not sport in stealing someone else's kill. Lastly, if they find themselves in a duel with only one remaining enemy they're supposed to de-cloak, revealing themselves to have a respectful and fair fight to the death. I loved this movie, the cinematography, the dialogue and how brutal and badass this version of the Predator was. I'm rarely as excited for a main character to whoop ass than I was at the end of this movie when Naru won and let out that war cry. This is my 2nd favorite Predator movie behind the original. I never liked 2 all that much and the AvP series started off good but got worse as it went on. I'm excited to hear that they are hoping to make a sequel or similar movie set in a different time period in the future. There's no confirmation but the Director and team have said they would be happy to do another. Predator comics and lore was a big part of my childhood so I went on a little too long, I love this stuff.
Honestly, I think a big part of the hate it’s just because the protag is a girl, let’s be real lol, if it was “young boy committed to proving himself” there would be less hate
They could basically do a John Wick with this Prey series, where you could do as many movies as you want and no one would ever get tired of them because its ALWAYS going to be fun to watch a fun and well choreographed action movie with a simple plot and those will never get old. So they could literally make dozens of these just set in different era's and hell even different planets with Predators fighting other alien races that could even be more advanced than them.
I absolutely loved this movie. I really enjoy native American movies too, as well as the AvP franchise. And imo this movie blended the 2 together amazingly well, I feel the relationships between the various members of the tribe, and you're able to learn much about their character in a short period of time. Also I had no idea you could watch this in Comanche, I know what I'll be doing tonight lol
LOL a modern dog. the dog in the movie kind of resembles a dingo, which has been around for nearly 4000 years. So i'm guessing they would of had similar looking dogs in the US like that too
Surprised you guys didnt pick up on the Frenchman's gun is the same one given to Danny Glover at the end of Predator 2 - so either they came back and traded her for the gun or something else happens that they get the gun as a trophy for later.
A tv show 60min each different times and places. Some human wins some losses maybe even a ep set in the alien timeline have the predator fight colonial marines.
Here's how I organize the predator movies: Predator: One of the greatest action movies of all time, one simple mistake away from being a perfect film. Predator 2: Solid followup, takes the interesting idea of the first film & transitions it into a new, interesting setting. Execution falls a bit short & it has some potentially problematic elements. AVP series: Bad movies, but can be dumb, entertaining, camp fun. Still have better lore than Prometheus & Alien: Covenant. Predators: Underrated film, solid action. Not quite as good as the originals but a worthy follow up, slept on. The Predator: An abomination against the concept of film making. Shits on literally every good idea the series has ever had. Had maybe one solid concept underneath it that's ruined by bullshit. Prey: For my money, second only to the original & I could be convinced that it's nostalgia that blinds me there. Back to basics, gets everything the first one did right & high lights what the series should be.
Also if you didn’t know the predator costume was fully prosthetics with the head being animatronicly designed so the jaws could’ve opened when he yelled
Hmm originally thought that she hit his shield activation button as he blocked her blow then it glanced into his own arm, but now that they've seen it that way, im not too sure now. Never originally considered it but kinda makes sense especially with the beaver allegory. Also, did they notice the pistol being referenced from Pred 2?
He killed the bear with a PUNCH.. not the claws. Insane strength feat. I seen bears get hit by god dam TRUCKS and just get up and run away.. so imagine how powerful that enraged punch was.
I really liked the movie, although they change the style of the predator to more primitive, it still fits in, and makes sense, since lore wise each hunter chooses their method and form of weapon depending on their prey or their own fighting style. It could also be seen as the predator challenging itself with less equipment, the same way many people today still hunt with bows.
There was also the fact that the Feral Predator literally took a shot to the back of his head so he was probably still disoriented and couldn't think straight. Probably also why he didn't dodge the shot. It took him too long to figure out what was happening.
There is so much lore behind the Predators/Yautja. Age/Amount of hunts and the more dangerous the prey they kill earns them prestige and rank. The higher the rank the more gear, armor, and tools they have access to. This predator, the Feral Predator, is new blood. The first hunt as it progresses from a simple snake fight to more dangerous stakes to improve and prove itself.
Totally expected this movie to be trash, watched it based on glowing reviews and it turned out so much better than expected. It's a shame it didn't get a theatrical release.
This movie was amazing, they way it dismissed as her as easy prey until way later, the bear, the wolf, incredible! Every character that beat a Yautja, outsmarted it. There is mo physically way of besting it and I liked that the movie leaned in to it
GUYS...I JUST WATCHED IT A FEW DAYS AGO...This is a MASTERPIECE!!! and I also think this is one of those movies that often go unnoticed inexplicably...
Would absolutely love if they went the different cultures/eras route for future Predator movies. Could you imagine one set in feudal Japan? Maybe you could call it 'Ronin', it could have a double meaning, an exiled predator looking to regain his honor and our hero being a samurai with no master. Could you imagine the visuals you could achieve? The final battle, wide shot of our hero and the predator in silhouette, heavy rain and roaring thunder as they stand atop a mountain. The samurai ready to unsheathe his katana, the Predator roars as the thunder strikes in between the two of them, acting as a bell to start the battle. You wouldn't even need dialogue for it, just a great track to enhance the scene, war drums, traditional japanese instruments. And don't even get me started on a Viking-era Predator movie...the possibilities could be endless!!
If you guys didn’t know the reason this predator didn’t have one of those shoulder canons is because this is one in its youth basically a Pup. it’s his right of passage which for everyone they complete is another piece of offensive or defensive technology they get to add to its arsenal. There a major civilized society and very religious when it comes to the hunt
They premiered the movie at San Diego Comic Con and the audience loved it! They gave it a 10 minute standing ovation! My dad and I watched it on Hulu and we loved it! I gave this 8/10.
Great addition to the series and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. My only real gripe is that the pistol doesn't make sense. How can Adolini give it to Greyback if he's dead and it's in someone else's possession?
It was a good film and as for the predator it was 100% practical, head included however they decided to do a CGI overlay over it to enhance the movement of the face
54:00 Re: their weapons. You also have to consider that the Predators are individual hunters. Look at modern human hunters. Some of them like to roll out with a bunch of super high-tech kit. Others like to go bowhunting or whatever. Just because they technically have the tech available to roll around with blasters and nukes, that doesn't mean that every individual hunter is automatically going to kit up like that. This Predator has some high-tech iterations of low-tech weaponry, and that might simply be because it likes a more visceral, primal hunting experience.
It was a really refreshing predator movie after so many fails... I didint find it perfect by no means! But it did give me a huge smile at the end :) I was like yes! this is a start now let's keep going upwards!
Following what the director said (so I heard), the reason why this Yautja has some rather primitive-looking tech is that he's a youngblood/rookie. Previous Predators that we have seen have experience and are well equiped with more advanced weapons and gear, but rookies are not allowed to have such and receive the more old stuff. That's why he had that magnetic crossbow instead of his plasma cannon, for example. Which honestly makes the Yautja lore even more interesting.
I personally lost my mind when I slowly suddenly realized that the gun was the same one from predator 2, kind of like a prize from the first dual that ever happened.
I can see the tomahawk work if the rope she made out of thread is way lighter or the axe itself is very heavy. It´s another "she learns quick" showcase. Petty solid homewatch movie. With native cast as well, which is nice to see.
I read alot of complaints that this predator got beat by a small women, rather than a tank like arnold, and how it didn't make sense and made this predator seem so much weaker, Yet the jungle hunter got taken out by a tree and one bullet wound. While Feral, took on a wolf, bear, multiple armed natives and french fighters, multiple bullet, spear, and arrow wounds, and still kept going, despite all that damage even losing an arm he kept fighting, in the end its the predators pride that takes them out and the underestimation of their prey
@@jyrxz4945 no no, I'm aware he didn't use his weapons on purpose. I just mentioned he wasn't taking this fight really seriously and probably never felt at danger.
@@Shigeru0508 well no when they take a fight seriously you see what happened in AVP with thousands of aliens wiped out. They prefer the fun sport of it so letting himself get hurt to make it more of a challenge was good for him
22:48 - What does any "sports" hunter feel about the fairness of the hunt? Answer: They don't care! The Predator has always been an allegory of how hunting as a sport is ultimately the complete opposite of what hunters say it makes them: They pride over their accomplishments of hunting prey that has little to no advantage over the hunters. Viewers of the movies often say things like "It's not fair: The Predator has advances weaponry, camouflage and vision!", but humans who hunt have the same advantage: They have advance weaponry (Guns), they have camouflage (Camo clothing) and they have better vision (Binoculars and telescopic riffle sights). It's not plasma guns, invisibility cloaks and infrared vision but the advantage that those give The Predator over humans is not any more disproportionate to that which modern hunting gear gives to todays sport hunter (Or also sports fishermen, for that matter). Even the Predator's willingness to not hunt unarmed humans has a parallels in hunters that will not kill females that are pregnant or with live youngs (Or throw back fishes after capture) to ensure that species continues on and so that they can hunt again latter. So one could interpret the underlined message of the Predator series as: "Hunting is stupid and honorless!" (But I am sure sports hunters will disagree) 25:01 - He should have said: "Stick around!" 😂
Something i love about this movie is that it reminds us that the predators see this as a big game at the end of the day. When this predator fights all the trappers he's clearly having fun and is somewhat fucking around for his own amusement
I believe this Predator is supposed to be an unblooded young hunter who's trying to prove himself to his tribe, just like Naru. And supposedly he's from a different tribe than the ones we've seen in previous movies which might explain how some of his tech looks different.
I love the music/score in this film.. if you have ever seen, one of my favourites, The Last of the Mohicans it is very much inspired by it.. almost a nod to one of the best First Nations movies of all time. If you have not seen it I definitely recommend it!
The Predators are basically the rich white lion-hunting dentists of the galaxy. Hey I’m gonna use the most advanced technology ever on this world to wreck some idiots and animals.
I appreciate that this movie showed clear rules regarding the Predator’s use of weapons. It fought the bear hand-to-hand because bears do not have complex tools to aid them in combat. Once the Predator saw evidence that a target used a more advanced weapon, it was free to upscale its own weapons to match.

I just love the fact the Frenchman, by setting a trap, they displayed a hunters intelligence which made the Predator infinitly more interested in them then the bait, thus there trap having the opposite desired affect.
@Trashthlete Yeah they only hunt hunters
@Trashthlete most do but this one not so much, from seeing other takes it seems like a young blood that didnt follow the proper hunters code as many times through the film they act out of character for a predator.
@Trashthlete thats fandom nonsense
hes not going for honor kills hes going for the better hunters, a bear is more dangerous than a wolf, a human with steeltraps is more dangerous than one with the native tech level.
this predator biggest mistake is underestimating people and taking necessary hits

It honestly varies individual Predator to Predator, based on the writer for the story and whatever direction they want it to go.

I love the idea of setting a Predator movie during a war, they sort of played on that idea in Predator 2, with the Predator attacking members of the two gangs who were at war in LA and it was damn cool.
so if that's the gun from 2. Then that means another Predator comes and takes out our girl here

For Japanese I'd like for them to focus on archery, since the bow was more important than the sword to the Japanese.
Main character is Hattori Hanzo
Uh, no. Absolutely no, cheesy hollow cornball.
That's YOUR personal love.. The one related scene was good but got a lot of hate and that was QUICK.

I agree, and even after she's gone full badass she still gets hit and thrown around. A true hero to root for
I loved that we saw her learn every skill she used to defeat the predator in the end, it was so freaking cool ❤️❤️❤️

Right. There's people who complain about the woman killing the predator. Man ain't the only gender that has ways to kill
Small detail, but would have missed it, and rather like that calling back
Also the actor playing her brothers name is dakota beaver

Taabe's fight against him was awesome and it was so cool to see how Naru ended up killing him. Guess she's new war chief now.
Its just plot armour, they made the predator look like 🤡, they should make a predator movie where it kills everyone including protagonist

@@Slaskhask …and yet…

I think the whole point of the Tomahawk on the rope was so she could retrieve it faster after throwing it, the part where she was missing the rabbits and having to take time to go collect her tomahawk was the reason I believe she did it. Could be wrong though 😅
Yeah your right, it's just that the rope is detrimental in other aspects which is why people don't use axes like this in real life.
It's similar to Chinese meteor hammer. It's not an effective battlefield weapon but is very effective in dueling situation with surprise element.

The sound design of this movie was incredible!
That's what I figured, like a riposte but either the shield
that was what happened. she hit him, he shielded, it got thrown back and cut off his arm.
I'm an unashamed lover of predator 2 and predators but this has to be my favourite since the OG
It's a shame that The Predator was so bad the studio didn't want to put this one in the cinema
Amber Midthunder (the main actress) has such a cool name
Predator can tackle a freaking bear, approaching it on horseback with all it's traps ain't a good idea

"Cultured degenerate"

But have the whole movie show the trials and tribulations of a young predator on an alien world, maybe it starts with a pack and by the end is a sole survivor.
that might be better as a show, bit I would love to watch it
ive been saying this for years we need to see what its like on their planet, why they all look so different how they crafted their weapons how they came to be a hunting race etc

I genuinely think this movie is better than the original. Totally badass and everything Id want to see in a Predator movie.

The predator Franchise will thrive and be amazing if they set it in different time periods! keeps it fresh and exciting!
A tv show 60min each different times and places. Some human wins some losses maybe even a ep set in the alien timeline have the predator fight colonial marines.
Here's how I organize the predator movies:
Predator: One of the greatest action movies of all time, one simple mistake away from being a perfect film.
38:25 Predator cloaks up when getting his ass handed to him. "Ah you bitch!" Laughed my ass off on that reaction.
Really enjoyed this movie a lot more than I thought I would. I especially liked how quiet it was for a lot of its runtime
I second a Zulu Predator movie, would be an interesting culture to explore and fit well with the idea of a large group repelling an attack.
A predator set in Rome in the colosseum would be interesting
I really liked the movie, although they change the style of the predator to more primitive, it still fits in, and makes sense, since lore wise each hunter chooses their method and form of weapon depending on their prey or their own fighting style. It could also be seen as the predator challenging itself with less equipment, the same way many people today still hunt with bows.
Fun Fact! Both Naru's Rope Tomahawk and The Predator's shield are based off of Kratos's Axe and Shield!
There was also the fact that the Feral Predator literally took a shot to the back of his head so he was probably still disoriented and couldn't think straight. Probably also why he didn't dodge the shot. It took him too long to figure out what was happening.
This movie is sooo good! The cinematography was impecable
I heard since due to contract if it went to theatres then it would have gone to hbo rather than hulu due to pre existing contract
This movie was amazing, they way it dismissed as her as easy prey until way later, the bear, the wolf, incredible! Every character that beat a Yautja, outsmarted it. There is mo physically way of besting it and I liked that the movie leaned in to it
Also, "if it bleeds, we can kill it" love a good quote call back
29:45 “I’m sure they’ve won” broke me, well played lad
Bot
It's interesting that the game Prey (2006) and this film Prey both feature Native American main characters.
I read alot of complaints that this predator got beat by a small women, rather than a tank like arnold, and how it didn't make sense and made this predator seem so much weaker,
Yet the jungle hunter got taken out by a tree and one bullet wound. While Feral, took on a wolf, bear, multiple armed natives and french fighters, multiple bullet, spear, and arrow wounds, and still kept going, despite all that damage even losing an arm he kept fighting, in the end its the predators pride that takes them out and the underestimation of their prey
I just love that the bear actually puts up a good fight against the Predator.
though, the predator could have just used his weapons and end the fight right at the start
@@Shigeru0508 pre sure Predators love a good fight, like literally written in lore, why would he want the fight to be easy and to end quicker
@@Shigeru0508 clearly don’t know how predators work
@@jyrxz4945 no no, I'm aware he didn't use his weapons on purpose. I just mentioned he wasn't taking this fight really seriously and probably never felt at danger.
@@Shigeru0508 well no when they take a fight seriously you see what happened in AVP with thousands of aliens wiped out. They prefer the fun sport of it so letting himself get hurt to make it more of a challenge was good for him
this was the ONLY reaction channel that caught on immediately how that the buffalos killed weren't predator but the colonizers
The question would be, if these people kicked predator's arse, how the hell did the colonizers beat them?
So one could interpret the underlined message of the Predator series as: "Hunting is stupid and honorless!" (But I am sure sports hunters will disagree)
25:01 - He should have said: "Stick around!" 😂
Something i love about this movie is that it reminds us that the predators see this as a big game at the end of the day. When this predator fights all the trappers he's clearly having fun and is somewhat fucking around for his own amusement
YAY! I was hoping you guys would watch this but didn’t expect to see it so soon
We had the Comanche version in theaters here in Oklahoma, home of the Comanche Nation. Shit was badass! NUMUNU!!!
