This is a great video, full of atmosphere and concentrating on the elegance, style and art of the interiors, particularly the work of Champigneulle and Dupas. Well done to you.
MrExplorer7, Thanks for your comment, yes you're right. This liner was 20 years earlier in style and construction. Look at the SS France, and compare this liner with SS Normandie, outside copy paste... ok inside the style changed.
They were all taken off and placed in a warehouse. Then auctioned off from there. There currently is one of these original 'interior fitting' lists for sale, and Sotheby's is auctioning off some furnishings including the piano from the Ladies Drawing / Smoking Room. Set to go between $400,000 and $600,000.
Great video, but your choice of music is terrible. Try some instrumental Cole Porter or something with french lyrics It really is hard to watch with this guy in agony.
I have been hoping to find a picture of an interior lounge where a musical combo played. In this lounge was a 2' x 3' bronze plaque with King Neptune(?) as the centerpiece and 4 other figures, plus two small children at the base. At the top are the words OVIS SEPARABIT. This plaque is in my home now--when it was being re-furbished i.e. paint removed etc, an elderly man walked into the shop at the time I went to pick it up and said "Where did you get that? It was in the lounge where I played in a combo on the Normandie". Unfortunately, I have only the word of the antiques dealer from whom I purchased it in 1987and that elderly man that it truly was on the Normandie. Supposedly there were four smaller plaques, two on either side of the larger, that were sold at auction to another dealer. Any ideas?
Gorgeous! The French Line spared no expense with the SS Normandie! I have a question-the ship was being converted into a troop carrying ship, for the US Navy, when it burned and sank at the dock-what happened to the interior furnishings?
Hi, the whole video was produced from the "Green Book", take a look to my comment for the video. Usually I use only photos, or material from original ocean liner collectibles, or publication of the era.
Musique bidon. Les interieurs sont toujours aux États Unis je crois. C etait autrement plus beau que les actuels paquebots luxueux certes mais décorés bling bling. La salle a manger avec sa hauteur de plafond!
THIS ODD MUSIC IS AWFULL.... ARG....... PITY THE HUMANITY LOST SUCH WONDERFUL PIECE OF ART AND ENGENNERING.... NEVER SURPASSED NORMANDIE IS A CAPSULE OF TIME, BEUATY AND ART.......
Ironic pairing of Christian rock song about spiritual matters crossed with homage to ship that stood for opulence in a period (the Depression) when millions went hungry. I wasn't aware one could have two Masters- Earthly riches & Eternal salvation. Party on, Ted!

Some salvaged pieces were sold at auction.
Perfect music selected ♥️

Couldn't make it through the whole video due to that horrible song.
+brenton Mooney Yes, you are quite right; I turned it off, sounded like bad plumbing.
Lol......brenton Mooney. & HeySlowPokes.....that shows your low level intellect and poor appreciation of the FACTS THAT MATTER!!
Bloody awful song.
@@TWTR4EVER Nobody gives a fuck what you say.
I just turned my sound off.
