my parents had one to tow behind there motor home in the early 70's. When they went out I used to get the keys and "rally" on the dirt roads in the little town I lived in. I was 14 and boy was that fun. never got caught or crashed
I bought a 1972 N 600 sedan in 73….. for 150 dollars……it had some body damage on passenger side….but ran and drove fine. I worked as a bodyman / painter at the large dealership that sold Hondas. I repaired the car….. and my wife and I actually went on a cross state vacation in it…. What a delight it was! A brand new one in ‘72, sold for $1,350…… and after a year, I had a friend beg me to sell it to him for $1,100. I had 600 bucks in it, so I sold it to him…… he was all smiles as he drove away from my house! I wish I had kept it. It was my first of 16 Hondas my wife and I have owned since…….👍❤️
I convinced my dad to buy one in 1968 instead of a mini. He was driving with my mum and an aunt and uncle when it was hit from behind. The sides split from the floor pan to reveal the road! Funny now as nobody was hurt but it was frighteningly easy to write off!! I bought a new one in 1972. I loved the revvy engine and (stupidly) often saw 80 mph coming home from my girlfriends house. Fascinating little cars
J'ai parfaitement connu la n 360 qui nous a bien ballade et c'était une petite auto très agréable, bruyante mais à notre âge pour nous c'était une Rolls-Royce, de bons souvenirs.
I had the next "big thing" from Honda... the Z360, then a Civic CVCC. My '85 CRX was my final Honda, but not because I had any gripes... Honda had become too mainstream and kinda dull after that.
I bought a Honda S600 coupe ... $1800 brand new ... and that back seat is smalllllllllll ... 50 MPG ... could have sold it in 73 during the gas shortage for more that I paid ! Went down hill on Rt 80 at 82 MPH ... with a screaming sister in law in the tight back seat !
All these tiny little old Honda's are very cool, scary as hell to drive on the highway but awesome on a back road, never owned a 600 but I had a few Scamp's when I was younger, Rj in Oz
Great presentation but I hate when people assume this motor was derived or based on a motorcycle engine the only thing it has in common is the construction design meaning horizontal split lower case and stacked air cooled cylinder and head other than the architecture there are no common motorcycle parts used here.
I have a friend that a later year 600. It was the noisiest car I've ever ridden in. The battery was dead but it didn't matter because you could push start the car.
The first Honda car appeared in 1963 the S 500 and T 360 were not imported to the U.S. The N 600 was only considered since it was exempt from emissions standards since was under one liter. They did release the 1300 coupe in 69 but it would not pass U.S. emissions standards of the time. The 600 was just a place holder while the 1200 civic was developed to meet these standards.
I remember seeing one of these as a kid and wondering what the heck the fanbelt was all about, it went around the back of the engine or whatever and it just seemed really odd at the time. I remember thinking it was a fairly attractive little car at the time though.
I remember in 1970 or 1971 seeing a Honda car with chain drive in California. This isn't it. I presume the owner bought it in Japan and brought it to the US, as he was an Air Force serviceman.

I remember those when they were brand new.

I remember what was most notable was the tiny wheels

Leslie's stories are great! He need his own channel, or more promotion from the Petersen!
Is this the one restored by Tim Mings??? He used to live down the street from me!!
Sure is.
COOL!! I could use one right now!

We had two N600s in Oz. They were fun on a country drive.

I owned one. Nearly killed me when the clutch went through the floorboard.

Coolest thing ever. I'd pay an awful lotta $$$ for this today...!
Honda should reintroduce This car, Back to the USA, I don't know, I wonder if it would be environmentally Good, Someone Needs To Check it Out ! ! !
Cute car!
My wife got one of these cars
Do you have any merchandise that features the N600?
Why they don't make that car today?
How much would one of these cost?
its front wheel drive and small.....its only now i realized its almost like a mni.....but mini i think has better appeal
A heap classier than a Prius.

Steering wheel is incorrect, it's a later vintage replacement part.
Love the Merika centric content Not.

The earlier S600 roadster with chain drive was sold in Canada. Could have come in that way too.
Top car is 1$
A mini car 1970 is a good car insurance Quote online car
