Don't be so dismissive of your future. Social skills are acquired and like any skill take practice so I am sure your social awkwardness will lessen with time. Also cleaning isn't a bad stable job, and the pay can be alright if you get yourself into some niches. The most pathetic and sad example of a Breadtuber. The cringe-inducing arrogance and confidence that comes from dehumanizing and punching down on conservatives, contrasted by how easily they buckle under the pressure from only a fraction of the vitriol that gets re-directed back to them. This could be a wake-up call, but no. Just another opportunity to play the victim and talk down to you. I'll just paraphrase what Goku said to Frieza in DBZ after he was defeated by his own attack and begged to be saved: "After everything you've done, you want me to spare you? Why should I show you the mercy you've never shown anyone?"
I've arrived at your same position. I want the right to honestly clean house with people like this. This guy should be working instead of whining about capitalism as a living. I'm honestly going to look the other way if the right over corrects because I'm just exhausted dealing with these people
Bad example though cuz Goku actually does show mercy, gives Frieza a means to survive, ultimately taking pity on Frieza, and that little space Hitler uses that energy to try to murder Goku all over again... then Goku bodies him. They get one chance. One shot at forgiveness. No second chances.

More than half were "if you don't have this surgery immediately, you're going to die within a week" scenarios. My body is a canvas for an art drawn with surgical scars. Sometimes quite literally, my surgeon compared what she had to do with my body to "arts and crafts" to repair damage caused by my conditions. I've sampled nigh every major pain-killer. I've been diagnosed with at least eight or nine different auto-immune diseases, many of which involve chronic pain. I'm lucky to be alive at all. Az rants aren't for everyone, but I find the lad really entertaining. I think the worst part about his rant going viral was that most people do not have the context of Az's persona as a creator. Rants like that are something he does. He rages because it's part of why people watch him. Even in said stream where this is captured from, as different things start coming up in the game, he starts out pretty chill, poking fun and clowning on them for their silliness, and then right before the rant he's super quiet and takes his headphones off and then lets loose. He's a showman. He named his channel after a professional wrestling term. Was it cringe? Sure. Was it fucking amazing? Also yes.
It's remarkable how people often people with personas themselves will ignore that Az is playing a character. Chris ray gun is a wonderful example, just because he's a cynical asshole in his videos doesn't automatically mean that's who he has to be IRL, he just is one and assumes Az must clearly be a loud ranter because that's the persona he plays.

Okay, heres the thing about Concord. It wasnt just word of mouth that damned that game. Short story: I manage a Home Electronics section at one of the bigger Supermarkets (cant name for obvious NDA reasons). We get new releases for games fairly regularly. We got 2 copies of Concord for the PS5. Less than a week later, we were contacted directly by Sony to pull any copies of Concord from shelves, and accept any returns of the game we got in. Normally we dont accept returns on video games if the case is open at all, but Sony went out of their way to be like "yeah, we dont care. We cant afford the PR hit of releasing a shit game AND being greedy about it". I have never seen any company go out of their way to try to salvage what little good will there was left for any game as much as they did for Concord. Concord wasnt a failure, it was a horrific disaster.
And now the lead designer (you know, the woman who had all the character designs reworked into their final state, insisted on putting their pronouns into front and center on the info screens, and demanded to be addressed as "Professor" by the rest of the dev team) is searching for a new lead designer job at other companies, citing the game's failure as a badge of honor, because in her mind she got under the skin on those rácist, fáscíst gamers, and therefore she must've been doing something right.
@officerbucktuddrussel394 I mean, it was probably the reason it failed so _spectacularly_ in that you needed to pay up-front to experience the mediocrity as opposed to getting nickel and dimed for a battle pass later on. Would have failed anyway, but the game being completely unappealing _and_ wallet-gated was why it was shut down within a week. The cope is just the idea that the "completely unappealing" aspect wasn't involved.
@@gus439 Yeah, sure, and the fact that they axed the game entirely rather than trying to pivot to free to play shows there were very fundamental problems, but the price tag was a factor that certainly warded people off from just signing in and giving it a try. Was the $40 price tag the thing that killed Concord? No. Was it still an issue? Yes. People have no problem shelling out $40 for a game, but in a market where every bit of your competition is free, has more appeal, and is already established the $40 is simply just a roadblock. If you're driving home and you're given the option between 2 roads that take the exact same amount of time, but one is winding, is full of potholes, and has tons of speed bumps, why wouldn't you just drive down the other road? Beta numbers being low isn't a surprise either, despite being free it's still a live service match-making game in beta. Compounded by the horrendous advertising it was never set up for success. In the end it was perceived as a bland experience that cost $40 and had no built up playerbase. Not a very appealing reason to spend $40 when you can turn the corner and get the same bland experience with plenty of people for free. 😐

When a product is marketed, if the first thing talked about or shown is the gender, color, identity (You know what I mean), and/or bed room preferences of a character or person creating said product, it indicates that was a priority when creating the product. When those are a priority, other more important things suffer. In the case of video games or movies, when the above mentioned things are a priority, things like story and/or gameplay suffer. This is why projects companies like SBI worked on are targetted. It's known that games these companies have worked on tend to focus on these things, so it's a pretty clear indication that other more important things probably were focused on less and worth avoiding. This is also how/why people "know" a product is going to suck before it's even released. Even if only subconsciously, people have come to realize this.
I still remember when the v-tuber Pikame was cancelled/bullied off the internet for merely announcing she was going to play Hogwarts Legacy. The anti J.K. Rowling people even made a website to track anyone playing the game so they could dogpile them en masse. Of course this backfired and the game got even more sales than it would have otherwise.
That thing with Pikamee was vile. They knew Pikamee was one of the nicest VTubers out there, and they went hard of her, knowing she wouldn't be able to fight back. But when they tried to do the same with Pippa, it backfired hilariously.

Your anti-doomer speech at 1:35:28 to 1:38:32 is (unfortunately) iconic. I couldn't agree more. Even as a Christian, this isn't a term I used very often; but I genuinely believe we are BLESSED to live in the time that we do. "Now" is pretty awesome.
Remember, despair is a sin. Don't view it as a "finger wagging at you" kind of thing, but rather as an uplifting reminder that if you were to lose hope, you would be so clearly wrong in your pessimism to the point of it being a form of disobedience. Psalms 50:15 is a bit of a mantra I keep in mind to remind me. Hope it helps you too. "and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me."
Honestly I don't think humanity ever gets rid of problems, we tend to change them. Back in the day we had strong families for the most part, a place for everyone in life and obtainable life goals of sorts. We now have a very egocentrical society, freedom to choose what we like, but also no sense of belonging. Freedom isn't always good for people. Makes them question all the options and causes them to be chronically unhappy. It's like modern dating. So many people don't accept others because of little flaws just to end up without a working relationship when they're 40 or something. That's a problem none of our grandparents had. Same with paying for a house early in life. Wealth building used to be much easier, even by working simple jobs. There are many things that got worse through technical advances. It didn't just get better. Not saying doomer ways of thinking are correct, but modern day ist just better than 50 years ago or something.
After seeing the clip of this dude saying "withholding patreon money was akin go financial abuse" a few days ago, I ended up going to his Patreon and subbed to the top tier for an entire year. Great video, Rags, but I have small issue with your comparing "cancel culture" to boycotts. I would argue a boycott is not the same as a "cancellation" as they do not have the same intent or result. If a brand or company gets boycotted, they have infrastructure to take it. They have customer service representatives, PR people, a CEO that is presumably prepared to address investors about loss of income. It's bad for the company, but nobody individually is harmed, it's largely a peaceful protest against companies. I think cancel culture is more closely aligned with the red scare or witch hunts, where a person is mobbed by masses of strangers over the perceived offense and the intent is to cause them severe harm. They can lose their job, home, family, and have to go into hiding. Individuals who get cancelled have been known to commit suicide due to the harassment, loss, and isolation. Companies can survive a boycott, because if they change they have a chance to win consumers back. When a person is cancelled, they are rarely allowed the same. And cancel culture has another bizarre feature that boycotts do not: no time limit. No company gets boycotted for things they did in the distant past, while many people have been cancelled for things they've done forever ago. This kind of violence towards individuals and tolerance towards corporations makes it clear that the two actions are pretty distinctive.
13:47 ok, i was just listening to the video while i was focusing on work but this moment still caused me to do a double take. Like WTF? What do u mean "the major problem with critique" is the fact that its a critique?

On the 400 million dollar mark, I don't know about the source or anything like that, but factoring in publicity, the Amazon Secret Level episode, resdesign and outsourcing to get it launch ready, CGI episodes planned for weekly releases likely already finished, 400 million seems rather spot on for a big Sony triple A thing that they were trying to position as a sort of new Star Wars.
This really needs to be more publicly acknowledged: Concord's credit sequence is over an hour long. There is zero possibility they spent LESS than $400M.
Added to the fact the only people to come out to say the figure isn’t true are either people that work for Sony or are legacy games journalists (ie bought) So, you know… only people literally incentivized to downplay the bad publicity. What’s not to trust?
The spire of the original St Paul's cathedral in London, completed 1211, stood taller than the great pyramids, though only by 3 metres. The wooden spire of Lincoln Cathedral in England, completed in 1311, was 13 metres taller than the great pyramids, it held that record for 200 years until destroyed in a storm, they rebuilt it in stone in the sixteenth century. There have been many more cathedrals built throughout Europe that surpassed Lincoln before the construction of the Eiffel tower in 1887. /edit - now we can all say we learned something from this video comments section.

Az didn't rant about the pronouns in the selection screen. You probably know that, Rags, but plenty don't and think that was all that triggered that. I think a correction, a quick two-sentence context for that rant would have been apt. Something like "Az didn't complain at the character creation screen as many people that didn't watch his stream assume, instead that was the reaction far into the game, after many questionable interactions, when a character wanted to tell him something. He assumed he was gonna to be told the character was trans in a jest, then was instantly proven right, which was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back"
Right, so I think the massive problem here caused by the left and boosted by the right is that ever since that clip first surfaced, I've occasionally seen people mention "it's out of context", but not once since this comment has anyone I've seen actually provided that context. Whenever someone's reacted to that clip, people have "reacted back" every time and said "mehmehmehmeh, you didn't watch the whole stream". The "You didn't watch the whole stream" argument only works when the person refuses to accept the additional context, or they continue to exaggerate and lie about a stream they have the context for because the lie is more important than the truth. An obvious example is the Jenny Nichols EFAP stream where some people said "A bunch of misogynistic men spend 11 hours bullying a woman for not liking JOKER!", and no amount of people telling them that only 2-3 hours (or however long) of the stream was even related to Jenny and however many other women also chimed in criticizing her video. I think someone made the joke before that only a small fraction of the regular EFAP guests are straight white males, and they've covered plenty of straight white males for criticism themselves. Anyway, the point I was making is that when there's context that fundamentally changes that clip, if you choose not to provide or explain that context and instead stoke the flames by saying "He's right! You're just a SNOWFLAKE", then an "issue" that could be ended in 3 seconds gets dragged on for years
@@MalGanish Well as was explained in the thread, people didn't "miss" the point so much as whoever originally made that clip took it out of context and very few people corrected the record when people misunderstood the video

Yes, my issues do make my work tricky and cause problems but I don't let them try to overwhelm me, it does happen sometimes though but I still try to fight through it. I personally would love a job thats much more in tune with what this guy is doing, creating content and being self employed, however that is a risky and unstable venture, especially with youtube, unless your not planning for a backup incase that goes south your going to be in for a very rough time. I am going to look at other places that better suit my skills, and I suggest he should aswell, you can have a normal job that isnt working in retail hell like myself, and in some ways I envy privledged people like Salari.
I'm so glad you made a video on this dude. Calling people leaving his Patreon "economic abuse", showing his girlfriend hate comments until she cries, the absolute hypocrisy of almost everything he says. A real winner!
"I'm allowed to criticize things that right wing people do, but if they criticize us, is because they have anger problems" PS: That type of guilt tripping people into giving him money, will even make DarkSydePhil blush.
What would this guy say happened to Count Dankula? He was literally just a guy with a few hundred subscribers who made a silly video having his dog raise his paw like a roman salute in response to saying things a Nazi would say to annoy his girlfriend by making it look like his dog was anti semitic. This was enough to have people harass him and his girlfriend at his home, they managed to find out he worked at a call centre so complained to get him fired, he had to go through a court case and pay a fine for being offensive online. People's attempted to ruin his life and make him destitute or a silly joke that at worst probably offended a few people online. That was his crime and punishment. Can he really not see how normal people who have probably made offensive jokes in their friend groups would be worried something similar might happen to them because someone thought it was offensive? Even the Gina Corano case seemed excessive especially when you find out it wasn't even something she said that got her fired, she reposted a boomer meme that someone else posted about how we shouldn't allow the government to force us to make enemies out of our neighbours just like the Nazis did. James Gunn and the guy who played the elongated man on the CW's The Flash were fired for decade old tweets that again at worst were some offensive jokes. I don't know how you would not call this cancel culture.
His PTSD doesn’t prevent him from making content to an audience of thousands entitled to their opinion, but it does from a normal factory, construction or cleaning job. I’m not including jobs like a waiter or salesman, because it’s clear this guy isn’t emotionally stable enough to hear customer complaints about coffee being a little too cold or a blender not working.
I know I'm forgetting other people who also did this very recently... But what is it with Salari and In Praise of Shadows both making rambling video essays that have a barely on-topic beginning, clumsily segue into verbal diarrhea tangents in the middle, and then just spiral into deranged tangents 75% into the run time? Again, I feel like there's more examples of this recently so feel free to post about more that I'm totally missing.

It didn't escape my attention that he's also insinuating that people judged the movie badly after seeing it because of the negative opinion people had before release, rather than being the fault of the movie's creators.

Even in said stream where this is captured from, as different things start coming up in the game, he starts out pretty chill, poking fun and clowning on them for their silliness, and then right before the rant he's super quiet and takes his headphones off and then lets loose. Okay, heres the thing about Concord. It wasnt just word of mouth that damned that game. Short story:
I manage a Home Electronics section at one of the bigger Supermarkets (cant name for obvious NDA reasons).
One of the big things that make the loss size believable to me is how much it wished to be the next Pokemon phenomenon.
Was that before or after the Helldivers 2 debacle?
The $40 price tag cope for Concord is so tiring.
@officerbucktuddrussel394
I mean, it was probably the reason it failed so _spectacularly_ in that you needed to pay up-front to experience the mediocrity as opposed to getting nickel and dimed for a battle pass later on. Would have failed anyway, but the game being completely unappealing _and_ wallet-gated was why it was shut down within a week. The cope is just the idea that the "completely unappealing" aspect wasn't involved.

Yeah, sure, and the fact that they axed the game entirely rather than trying to pivot to free to play shows there were very fundamental problems, but the price tag was a factor that certainly warded people off from just signing in and giving it a try. I think if it had been free it would have been one of those ones where they gaslight players for six months and then abruptly cancel the roadmap and turn the servers off rather than being outlived by a housefly.
@@gus439 Dont even think anyone knew it existed back then
Was the $40 price tag the thing that killed Concord?

Critique:1"a detailed analysis and assessment of something, especially a literary, philosophical, or political theory."
Criticism:2"the analysis and judgment of the merits and faults of a literary or artistic work."
The term "criticism" is used much more commonly, and as such is more associated with the negative aspects, but they're still very synonymous. I don't even think most people consider them different words.
@@robertobear1749 You know what? I stand corrected.
I have never seen anything covering merits being called a "criticism", but looking up your definition, I did find something similar in dictionaries, so I guess it's just a gap in my knowledge.
With that said, if both words include analysis, and "criticism" explicitly includes "merits" then it just means it doesn't matter what word you use. The guy literally "A problem with critique on youtube is it's heavily based on finding the flaw" is highlighting the "merits" part or actual genuine analysis is missing.
It takes him a bit longer - typing a script with paws is a difficult learned skill. Dont ask me how I know.

I remember a Canceling a few years back involving the youtuber Slazo, where all his supposed friends ganged up on him and used the flimsy testimony of one of his ex's to say he was an abuser and tried and destroy his career, when it came out that no in fact he was not an abuser, none of them would back down or apologize. this wasn't a political thing, just a group of assholes who thought they could elevate their own careers by destroying anothers
Don't know anything about that situation, but yep. Some people are so obsessed with how they appear from the outside ("I have to be seen denouncing this "abuser" and no matter what I cannot back down under any circumstances!") that they won't take any objectivity or reason into their actions
Also fun fact, illuminaughti was a part of this. I remember.

I think even that ice pack thing (and I'm glad you included it) is significant, it sets the tone for how this guy communicates. He defaults to emotional manipulation; pity, sympathy, the 1 HP voice and general defeated air is all deployed in a "I couldn't possibly take more criticism, the world has been so cruel and unkind" form of control.

"and call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you will honor me."
@@Other_KevHonestly the first part you said is more beautifully put and reassuring than the psalm
@rebel4466 I dunno about that. I mean, when was the last time you heard of an outbreak of Polio? 😂
Where the hell is it written that despair is a sin?
After seeing the clip of this dude saying "withholding patreon money was akin go financial abuse" a few days ago, I ended up going to his Patreon and subbed to the top tier for an entire year. I then waited for the charge to post to my CC before issuing a charge back.

Casual financial abuse < Competitive financial abuse
And that is exactly why it's recommended not to spend that money for a good long while because that's a thing that happens, as far as I've heard.
Skillshare is pretty much the definition of paying more for less. TH-cam will always have more and better videos than the crap on skillshare.
And don't forget the fact Sony bought the entire studio just to make this game.
This really needs to be more publicly acknowledged: Concord's credit sequence is over an hour long. There is zero possibility they spent LESS than $400M.
Added to the fact the only people to come out to say the figure isn’t true are either people that work for Sony or are legacy games journalists (ie bought)
So, you know… only people literally incentivized to downplay the bad publicity. What’s not to trust?
The number also factors in the 100 million Sony spent to acquire the development company.
Also how long it was in development. Labor is a costly overhead.

Az didn't rant about the pronouns in the selection screen. You probably know that, Rags, but plenty don't and think that was all that triggered that. I think a correction, a quick two-sentence context for that rant would have been apt. Something like
"Az didn't complain at the character creation screen as many people that didn't watch his stream assume, instead that was the reaction far into the game, after many questionable interactions, when a character wanted to tell him something.
You're just a SNOWFLAKE", then an "issue" that could be ended in 3 seconds gets dragged on for years
People miss the point, that key words were "FUCKING BORING", pronauns next.

27:20 was a legendary smackdown.
