    We visited over the same weekend and had a great time. The difference is we didn’t do the scare mazes as little man is still a little too young. We loved Burial grounds especially at night and thought it was a great new attraction.
    Some good points in your video. Chessington have family rated scares during the day and more hardcore (for Chessington) at night. Towers could do the same as you mentioned. Or just re-brand it as a family scare event and leave Thorpe as the full fat scare event. I can see how it is disappointing when mazes are marketed as scary and they do not deliver.
    I would personally like to see another scare zone, the meadow one at Thorpe is great and this new one at Towers is very good as well. Scare zones are great as they are free and you don’t have to be there at a certain time. We did it 6 times over the 2 days.
    Thank you for stopping to say hello to my son, he really enjoyed meeting you all.

    Sub species was awsome back in the day. One of the actors bit my ear pretty hard. But it was great

    I haven't done this years scarefest, but after last year's event, I have to totally agree with what you say with regards to making it more adult based after 6pm. I too understand it's a family event, but it should have the option of better scares too. Catering for all.

    • @yourexperienceguide
      @yourexperienceguide  ปีที่แล้ว

      Catering to the younger market only is going to force those looking for more intense scares to other events, and it’s not like there’s only a few to pick from.

    Another great vlog guys, I enjoyed watching this. I think your content has reached a new level in recent months. What makes these vlogs great is your honesty and integrity! You dont show bias regardless of invites or not, you are not a walking advert, which makes you one of the best. Thanks for the vlog, I can imagine they take a lot of work to put together.

      Thanks Ben, we always try to give our honest thoughts wherever we go and whatever the circumstances. Scarefest was a real let down after seeing so much hype the day before.

    I was in the park the day before you and the crowds were massive. I didn’t do the scare mazes, but aside from Tower street it didn’t feel like Halloween.

      It's very obvious, i watched most of your videos, maybe you're subconsciously being biased. There is a stark difference to the ones you're invited too and the ones your are not. Just because you paid dosnt take away from being invited. You was still invited, still expectations regardless. @@yourexperienceguide

      @@sebshep18 So we’ve been to Tulleys Shock twice this season, paid once and were invited on content creator night. Both nights were superb regardless of which one was paid for, and which one was a #gifted experience. Alton Towers Scarefest was a poor experience in comparison to everywhere else we’ve done so far this season.

    Good vlog.
    Shame you didn’t get good run throughs with the mazes. I do think it can be hit and miss with any mazes on how lucky you get with number of actors and scares etc.
    We always go Halloween weekend so we’ll be there in a couple of weeks. Atmosphere by the stage and the bar on the lawns is always really good so a shame you didn’t show any of that.
    I also don’t think towers should be open burial grounds until it is dark. That zone looks great but I do not get why you’d go through it in daylight. Takes away from it.
    Not looking forward to Daz Games but always looks forward to scarefest so see how it goes. Will be going to Fright nights also so will see the difference like you say!

    • @yourexperienceguide
      @yourexperienceguide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Quality vlog as per usual and appreciate the honesty. Im visiting in a few weeks but won't be spending a penny of those mazes, thank god for Burial Grounds hey. I'll be keeping my scare maze money for Thorpe Park

  • @Coastsandcoasters
    @Coastsandcoasters ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I can’t argue with much of this - I was texting my brother from the event (same day as you were there, saw you were very busy!) saying it didn’t feel like Halloween, in daylight, in the majority of the park. It felt flat.
    Towers is great after dark, probably because it’s a novelty, but Burial Grounds and night rides raises the experience of the lacklustre day.
    I’m hoping they’ve added extra theming in this “off” week.

  • @glennlewis8141
    @glennlewis8141 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I’ll be honest, I go to scarefest solely for the longer hours, and to ride in the dark. I’m going next Friday and the mazes don’t appeal to me at all. But it’s no surprise that they’ve let you down, because Alton towers is embarrassingly bad at everything nowadays. I go because I like coasters and it’s a day out. But I don’t get excited anymore. The rides are crap. It’s just something to do.

  • @josephaspinall7253

    We went on opening day (saturday 7th) and there was plenty of scares in the mazes, lots of actors etc. Maybe they have less actors working on a sunday or something? Weve all got an opinion and ill respectfully disagree with yours unfortunatly. Towers is a family park like your touched on near the end, there are plenty of 15 plus scare attractions across the country, you cant expect to get the same level of scares compared to other more extreme events. I think towers need some credit in improving on the last couple of years. You have to at least commend them for trying something different with Daz games, hes a big draw for a certain audience. This year there is more entertainment, more actors ( at least on opening day) more scare attractions, refreshed scare attractions ( mine tours) and you didnt even mention that they have a great family attraction in the trick or treat town, which im told is great for kids and families. Enjoyed your video and listening to your opinions but felt you where slightly too negative.

    • @yourexperienceguide
      @yourexperienceguide  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think anyone was negative, we reviewed our experiences which weren’t great on the day. There’s no point saying it was great when it wasn’t.
      Scarefest is a shadow of its former self, it used to be the leading theme park event for Halloween.

  • @sambillyard6541
    @sambillyard6541 ปีที่แล้ว

    Honesty is great, as I said on the day it’s not great when we felt the best of the paid stuff was the invitation.
    Definitely need more scare zones and a reset of the whole event needs to be done, it has become stale which was evident in the shows on the lawn being identical for several years

    First of thanks for a real review saved me and my partner some money im glad someone is being true fully I could see mark at the start hoping it would be a better event to the end you could see both of you think why did we come I agree after say 6pm 3hrs of full horror night with full actor and jump scare I could see that also being the best option for the park saves them money in the day then at night go full out for the last 3 hrs

    Totally agree with what you said, we were there on Sunday night and it was literally a theme park at night with noisy generators powering atmosphere destroying flood lights. It seems Alton Towers does not do joined up thinking to create an event throughout the park, instead it's just random ideas. It appeared people were more interested in the rides and they could had got rid of scarefest and no one would have noticed.

    Thanks for the really honest vlog as always and sorry you were disappointed. I think that Chessy Creepy Caves VIP After Dark last year was a great example of how a family scare maze could be totally transformed into an extreme scare attraction by night. I too wish Towers would make their mazes more extreme after a certain time. First time at Scarefest for us next week. Keeping my fingers crossed for a better maze experience and some decent jump scares 🤞

    I’m a bit biased for Scarefest, I would never want to see it like fright nights because that’s for Thorpe park but I do see Scarefest has become boring
    I do still think they should keep the family atmosphere, it suits the park much better. Thrilling Halloween events is such a saturated market whereas family isn’t
    I’d say the best approach is thrilling mazes & zones & a family atmosphere everywhere else with shows & decorations. I always prefer ‘spooky’ Halloween over ‘horror’ Halloween

    • @yourexperienceguide

      I loved Scarefest in the late 2000s; quality scare mazes, roaming actors, scare zones and an amazing atmosphere.
      It was so much better back then, theming doesn’t make or break a scare event for me.

      @@yourexperienceguidetotally agree I remember the dark forest having roaming actors after dark , which was advertised so families with small children could avoid if needed! Free scare zones are also a necessity! Mazes used to be amazing and the park was themed all round. I also remember it being £10 for two mazes , it’s turned into paying lots for not a great deal back. 😢
