i don't see current comments. hope u get this. started working on this tune again. what a great chord solo swing lesson. just wonderful. best parts 1) memorize the chords. i am horrible at it 2) use interesting voicing. i never really knew that inverted minor with the root on b string 3) use swing gypsy strumming 4) use the half step away chord to approach chord 5) diminished runs are so django like. for dummies remember the e7 diminished substitution contains the four notes in diminished chord including the major 3rd(g#) of e7 and flat nine or f note. i guess playing the e base note lets us know its really an e7 i have semi mastered this in 2 hours. u make it look easy and u do a great job wish i could have met u in la. maybe amsterdam one day or northwest.
I religiously incorporate your ideas into my playing and enjoy how concise and great your videos are for learning. I know you take suggestions, so mine is the rhythm and solo/ideas of Django's interpretation of In a Sentimental Mood.
Ahh thx for the positive feedback David great to know the lessons help... I'm not so familiar w IASM but always wanted to learn it so will have a look 😀 Robin
@@GypsyJazzSecrets I would have said so too . But honestly, it would have scared me away. But this detailed explanation makes it somehow approachable, even for me.
I really love this but coming from a guy that has used open cowboy chords all my life, it sure is tough to look at these basic chords and know where to put my fingers. Thank you for all that you do Robin, I am trying!
Hey Buddy we will be publishing charts for these lessons soon so stay tuned. Let me know if you have any questions that I can help with. All the best for 2017! 😃 Robin
Great lesson! Thanks for the ideas and the demonstration of how to apply them. You make it look so easy I almost got fooled into thinking I could do that too. Just kidding-- but it will take a little practice to incorporate your approach and ideas into my playing. What else is there to do when it is below zero outside?
Oh, yes. I almost forgot to make this simple question: do you think it is advisable (I'd not say "possible" in this case...) to play this kind of music fingerstyle? I ask you that because I'm familiar with it and I always think: "Gosh, if I have five picks in my right hand, why should I give up of them favouring just a platic one?... You know what I mean? What is your opinion about that?
amazing lesson :)
glad it helps!
