    Pretty cool to see how much Logan grew and changed over the years I’ve been looking for a little while at his old and new vids and his voice got so deep

    Thanks for letting us know his bowling ball weight (12 lbs). It puts everything into perspective because there are videos of people generating insane revs and claiming they use 16lbs when they weigh like 120lbs at most.

      TraumaER - Logan recently went from 12 to 14 pounds. But in this video, he was still throwing 12. Interestingly, he had probably outgrown his grip in this older, lighter equipment, which may have contributed to him squeezing it on the 11th ball.

    • @TraumaER
      @TraumaER 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I may be going to lighter equipment. I'm 6'0" and about 200lbs (athletic build), but I feel like I could generate more revs if I went from 15 to 14. I used 16 when I was younger but I don't think you need that much weight to get strikes. I see videos like this and while his strikes aren't as devastating as mine or anyone with heavier weight, speed, and revs, they are still an X in the score. Still impressive. He has PBA potential if he works at it and practices on a variety of conditions.

      TraumaER - You definitely do not need 16 pounds. Most pros nowadays throw 15, with few exceptions. A lot of the seniors I know throw 14 pounds with great effectiveness. Me? I always threw 16 when I was younger. But after a long hiatus, when I first got back into bowling, I threw 14. The only hit I ever felt like I was giving up something was the half-pocket hit where the 5 pin never got quite over to the seven, or when I had to move deep inside and play left of the third arrow. A few years ago, I moved up from 14 to 15 pounds, and everything has been right with the world ever since.

    the Uproar was a great ball for me on this pattern. I don't have the amount of hand Logan has but playing a 7-5 trajectory got me to the pocket. Los Angeles pattern is actually 36' not 35'.

    I used to live near a brunswick zone in North Ridgeville Ohio, I did leagues there all the time until 2012 when I had to move all the way to Delaware Ohio. I am now in high school and made the team, also I am visiting my grandparents, which is close to brunswick zone so I get to visit my old bowling alley !. I miss it so much...

    Along with bragging rights; I wonder if more kids would get involved in the little competitions if there were something else to "win" I watched one of the weekly competitions that gave away a ticket to the top 4 winners for a ball demo day. What about putting something like a free bowling pass or something else similar each week for them to win? It would also promote the youth to come in outside of league to bowl as well having the passes to use? I wonder why more youth don't also stay to get involved in this; as it's quite interesting. Maybe if it's a matter of them not feeling that they can win against certain individuals holding them back, perhaps hold different divisions. Such as This average and over will compete against each other; and a certain average and below will compete against each other. So maybe 2 separate divisions, like a varsity (experienced) division and a jr varsity (beginner / non experienced) division. The beginners can compete in the same way against each other; and as they compete more, they can move up as they gain more experience. All in all, this is very interesting to watch each week; and I would love to see more turn out for it. I'd eventually like to see other bowlers take bragging rights from these two as well; or at least see others vying for their own bragging rights. Keep up the awesome work!

    What balls are in these two boys' arsenals? Heard you say Logan is throwing 12 lbs, and Charles is throwing a urethane for spares. What other balls are each ones throwing?

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both of these guys have since acquired new arsenals, so I'm not entirely sure. The red and orange ball that Logan was throwing was, I believe, a Roto Grip Uproar, if I'm not mistaken.

      Beastgamer 0529 - There's no hard and fast rule that dictates what weight a kid should throw based on their body weight. I know some say for every 10 lbs. of body weight, add a pound to the ball. But it's really just a rough guideline. What I see more often is kids outgrowing the FIT of their ball, which often provides a clue that they may have outgrown the weight of it (up to a point). Try this: grab a house ball that's 9 pounds whose holes are in the ballpark of "fitting" you. Hold it at your side. Does it feel hard to control? If so, you're probably not ready for 9. If not, try throwing it a few times and see whether it seems easily controllable, remembering that a ball that's drilled for YOUR hand is always going to be more easily controllable than that house ball. With kids (especially young ones), I tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to adding weight. On the other hand, it's an undeniable fact that if you do step up a pound, you most certainly will soon grow into it, 'cause you ain't gonna get smaller. ;-)

      I don't have his exact age, but he's in the U15 Boys division. If memory serves, I believe he just aged into that group sometime last year. I'm thinking he's 13. A small 13. I can relate. I was small for my age back then, too. But as good as some people kept telling me I was back then, I was never as good as he is.

    When I bowl I stand to the left, and then when I hook it goes an inch or two away from the right gutter and then it hooks to the pocket.
    I can do the samething in the middle to.

      You must not be bowling many sport patterns. You belly the ball out to the right like that on some sport patterns and you'll be watching your ball sail into the moat.

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's no such thing as "the best" weight for a bowling ball. There might be a "best weight" for YOU or a particular player. But you wouldn't recommend 14 pounds for an 8 year old, right? Logan had been throwing 12 pounds for a couple of years when this video was shot. That would mean he was about 11 years old or so when he first went up to 12. Shortly after this video was shot (maybe a month later), he finally went up from 12 to 14 pounds and replaced his entire arsenal. He's now throwing 14. For what it's worth, Logan has always been a little small for his age. So the fact that he was still throwing 12 until recently seems about right to me (although I know he'd been wanting to go up in weight long before he finally did). Bottom line: I remember when he was still throwing 10 pounds before he went up to 12. And he could make that 10 pound ball do things I could only have imagined doing when I was his age. And I know lots of people (grown-ups) who would have their hands full trying to stay with Logan back when he was throwing 12 pounds. Now that he's got a "man size" bowling ball in his hand, he can give most anyone all they can handle in a head-to-head match.

      @ProdigyBowlersTour  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @ProdigyBowlersTour
      @ProdigyBowlersTour  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. I do own a Go Pro (the original one). But I find that Go Pro cameras are just not all that useful when taping bowling. For one thing, they're so small, they're clumsy. But the bigger problem with Go Pro cameras in taping bowling is that they're wide angle lenses. Almost like a fish eye lens. Distorts the foreground and makes the pins look teeny tiny, like they're a mile away. I actually do have a video shot with a GoPro on this camera. (Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/xydva80lk8I/w-d-xo.html ) It's something I shot about three years ago as a goof. I strapped the thing to my own head when I was bowling with friends after league one night. (Didn't bowl very well that night, either.) As bad as this looks, it's even worse when the camera is positioned back behind the approach, another 15 feet or so behind the ball return. Really makes the pins look like they're the size of ants. Go Pro has its purposes. But bowling, in my opinion, is not one of them. This particular video, which is the only one in the PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR series that was shot entirely hand-held (not on a tripod) was shot entirely with my iPhone 7 Plus (which all subsequent episodes have been shot with as well).
