  • In this video, I show how to make hard clothbound covers for the “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy books. The design is inspired by the Extended Edition DVD Box Sets.

Love the Idea of the three colors. Nice and crisp covering, like it very much!

Replacing a hard cover works the same way! You just might need to remove the cover with a knife instead of an iron. I'd love to see your results if you do it :)

Just bought the Stanley Fatmax box knife for cutting cardboard and thicker things (leather or else), it's absolutely amazing how it makes life easier. Insanely sharp though. Great video again, and great editing!

can you link the book board you use for the covers? There are just so many options and I don't want to get something too thin or of bad quality to use for hardbacks

Hi! Yeah absolutely, I just updated the video description with some links! if you're outside of Europe I'm not sure you'll be able to get the exact same ones, but I'm confident you can find comparable ones, at least :)

@@alexdesbiens9495 That's a ruler/spacer. It allows me to mark the bookcloth at a 45 degree angle while keeping a space between the line and the edge of the cardboard. When you cut the angles off you want to keep a distance from the cardboard that is approximately 1.5 times the thickness of the cardboard :)
