I don't recall anybody ever saying he wasn't a good runner, but the bottom line is many of his fans don't understand the way track and field work and expected him to come in and blow everybody out of the water. Boling is one of my top 5 current favorite track athletes. I just hope they don’t run him too much and he is able to peak for NCAAs and then US nationals. He was worn out by NCAAs last year.
The US is loaded in the 100m & 200m but I think his best shot to qualify for the WC will probably be at 200m as I think you will have to be in the low/mid 9.8x to make the team at 100m. 200m team will be difficult as well with the trio from last year’s Olympic team likely the favorites. I am as BLACK as they come. You're the only one that had to bring race into the discussion. If we let you tell the story, you would swear up-and-down that you were the ones being oppressed and not people of color. I remember the day when we were told that we could not compete with white people athletically and then came Jesse Owens. Most of us black people don't have any issue with it whatsoever and we in fact CONGRATULATE runners like Matt and Abbey. What's even more upsetting and contradictory is that when black people celebrate accomplishments, you all ask "Why does it have to be about race?"
And one more final thing: In the last 3 or 4 generations, there have been a LOT of diversity and racial mixing in America. I have been watching this since the late seventies. What I am saying is that people aren't always what they appear to be. I have a friend that is fair skinned and has natural red hair. You would think that she was Irish but she is in fact 3/4. Mexican. I know another person that looks black but is in fact half Japanese and speaks Japanese fluently. I look at Matt and I see his curly hair. That curly hair came from somewhere. You also have to remember the fact that genes sometimes skip many generations. I know plenty of white folks that have black relatives their families way back and they didn't know it. In America, nobody is pure anything anymore.

It would be one thing if you'd denoted an ethnicity such as Irish or Polish or Russian or German. Before the 1600s in the new world, no one referred to themselves as "white". @@Conanbomber5952 "tracked in", what are you talking about? I said recorded for track at least. As in there have been many people throughout world history that have existed and sprinted at least 100 yards. There were racing events in ancient times also. People whose times are not recorded.

@@johnortan1890 Yea they were slow af, go look at the times. Do you think all the juiced up sprinters over the years wouldn't have beaten them. Sprinting in the last 10 years is the fastest its ever been and no one from any other sport is faster. There could be someone with talent in another sport but untrained talent is also not going to be able to compete with todays sprinters.

Great start. Think Boling will be more competitive in 100 than 200. With that raw speed, I’d like to see him train for the 400 because I think he can run 44s with stamina

Let's give some credit to Georgia's new coach, Caryl Smith Gilbert. She has to be a big reason why Matthew is doing better this season.

Yeah true. Mathew's form was trash last year. She gets most of the credit.
