I followed ur tips for np board exam. Passed on first trial now I am looking for first time np job. Really challenging to find right job. So I found this video. Makes me less worry. Thank you so much for this video. I am currently in the process of finding a job and this video came timely. I will do as you have suggested. It is another level of frustration after passing board exam. I still have my current RN job and will hold on to that until I find FNP job. Some people also mentioned they got their jobs from recommendations from the physicians or NPs at their RN jobs.

    #10 used to be one of the only ways to get a job. I thought it was funny that you said it was non traditional. Times have changed a lot.

    Watched this a couple days late. Been so busy with a paper due haven’t had time for myself. Anyway, it’s crazy you went over the topic of finding jobs and resumes because I just had a class discussion on the proper resume and how to find a job and I had homework due which was to make a resume. Wish I watched this video a little sooner so I could have gotten tips for my resume but it still works I believe. Love your videos as always. ❤️

    Hi Liz, I absolutely love all of your videos! I also am moving to North Carolina, I graduate the 23rd of December and I am trying to find a part time job! Thank you for input! Any specifics regarding being NP in NC? I see it's a restricted practice.

    Thank you for the tips and websites Liz! Another great post! Regarding salary, did your current employer give you credit for RN experience? and were you able to negotiate?

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My employer didn't give any consideration for my nursing experience in regard to pay. It did help me get my job, but not get more money. I tried to negotiate a bit, but she was pretty firm on what she wanted to pay. I accepted her offer since the job had LOTS of other perks and was my desired schedule. But I think when I'm a bit more independent I'll try asking for a raise

    Where is a good place to look for salaries for NP's based on state. What is reliable?
    Thank you for your video. :)

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can try glassdoor, but I found the best method was comparing with my peers in my area. And fb groups for new nurse practitioners. A lot of them have “is this a good salary” posts that are good for getting an idea 👍🏼

    Hey Nurse Liz, I love your videos 😊 I’m thinking about pursuing a career in healthcare but I’ve read some stuff online that jobs like NP and PA are expected to grow a lot within the next few years, but I’ve read other articles saying the markets are getting more and more saturated and it’s harder to find work as a well paid NP or PA. What do you think? I’m nervous I’ll spend money for the degree and not be able to pay off loans!

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! So it is definitely quite challenging to find a job in some areas. But not impossible. If its definitely what you want to do, go for it. If its something that seems like you could pass on it, there may be other routes to go! People do eventually get jobs, sometimes it just takes a little while or they are taking ones they don't prefer initially. But again, if you live in an area that doesn't have this problem, then its amazing!

    When did you and/or your classmates start applying?

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I started applying after I graduated because I didn't have time to even think about it until I was done with school haha. Some of my classmates started at the beginning of the last semester of school.

    Can you find the scope of practice for NP on a specific states Board of Nursing website?

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Your states board of nursing should have a document, most are online. It will outline the scope of nurse practitioners in that state.
