Hi Nestor. We have a Suzuki DF6 6HP long shaft. Our Hurley 18 has an outboard well so the outboard motor is inboard!! The DF6 is a tight fit and I had to lower the transom to allow clearance. Also the motor has to be canted forward a little to ensure you clear the rudder. It's not actually a great design. Happy to discuss the details further and send you some pictures if that helps. I know on some later Hurley 18's the outboard mounting was in a sort of stern cut away on the port side which would make installation a lot easier.
@@womble4262 Sorry I have only just seen your comment, and I have since bought a Yamaha 2 stroke 4hp long shaft. Although the boat does have an outboard well, I am going to keep it on an outboard bracket as the well is going to be used as storage since my particular model has two quarter births and therefore no cockpit locker. I have not actually seen the boat yet, but I would love to discuss anything you think would be good to know about Hurley 18's.
