Cheap Amazon Carburetor Review and Comparison (Ford Motor Craft 2150)

  • Today I'm reviewing and comparing a new cheap amazon carburetor vs my old stock carburetor. Both carbs are based off of the Motor Craft 2150 that came off of a lot of Fords and Jeeps. Similar design to 2 barrel Holley Carburetors.

    I put one on my 77 F100 - 302 about two years ago. I bought it on eBay. Mine needed very little adjustment out of the box and runs fine to this day.

    My 1974 AMC Matador OEM card is a 2150. I have had the car almost 30 years. The OEM carb warped and the accel pump housing leaked no matter what I did. So in place of a new 2150 at $300 I tried one of these. With a few adjustment is works great. Time will tell but at the price willing to try. Thx

    Bought one of these amazon deals. Lasted 3 days then the power valve disintegrated and flooded the engine big time. Pulled the top of the carb off to find an empty fuel bowl with soaked spark plugs. Ended pulling the power valve out of the old carburetor I replaced, and swapped it in. Runs nice now. Definitely tune it on your engine because out of the box, these things are way out of adjustment.

    Had to pull off power valve had dirt under gasket greased gaskets and installed back on and did idle down fast idle. My 1965 mustang has not ran this good in years.they are a good carburetor just may need to adjust a few things.

    That could have been me in that video. I did same. When you looked on passenger side rear of carb back off that screwederneath the linkages. Will idle down don berto. Worked for me

    That thick gasket is for that heat problem that was there with the old carb ,you have to use it and I use 2 regular thin gaskets like you mentioned on top and bottom of the thick insulater gasket

    The old carb is a 2150 (it has a two-stage power valve). The new carb has a single stage power valve on it, so is a 2100 or early 2150.
    There's a casting mark on the side of the carb body that should indicate the venturi size. It'll be 1.08 (2100), 1.21 (early 2150), or 1.28 (late 2150). Of course, these things are copies made in china, so you'd probably be well advised to actually measure to verify the venturi size.
    I've seen reports that they come with jets that are too small, and the float may need adjustment. You can also get brass floats for them (better than the plastic ones because those can absorb fuel and fail over time, where a brass one will always be right).

    Out of the box 300 cfm carb 48 jets and a high wet float adjustment not good... But these carburators work well when you do your job as a mechanic and tuner. On a v6 like mine the float adjustment fuel level from the top of the bowl is 13/16" and 50 jets still are to lean so a v8 id be doing some trail and error. The fuel level is important for hills and etc mpg and all that and the right jet size to atomize the fuel mix. Also im looking at a 52 or a 54 jet for just a 2.8L Ford Cologne V6 and a modified Accelerator pump for performance and mpg, Also my accelerator pump is modded for half pump mpg and performance just for a v6. Also im running a duel stage 9 to 5 power valve when i punch it my vacuum reads under 5 under hard loads anout 4 psi testing it so when the engine trys to push it the power valve is fully open so it doesn't lean at full throttle if even used. Also my mid throttle is a bit lean so I have to jet up some 52 or 54 instead 48s were stupid lean. Full throttle performance is quick vs a stumble before from too much fuel from the old style power valve and accelerator pump. Fine tuning is everything!!!

    the power value popped and the inside was manufactured in metric thread design which didn't match up with the rebuild kit

    what was that hose you hooked up that was causing you the vacuum leak? I'm working on my grandpas old 73 and whatever you picked up looked alot like something I found in the bed of the truck and I've got a vacuum leak I can't seem to figure out on the carb.

      PCV Valve in valve cover to original ford air cleaner. If the hose doesn’t go to the intake manifold or carb then it can’t be a vacuum leak and won’t cause it to run rough. He didn’t hook it up. He stuck his finger on the vacuum port on the carburetor and realized he forgot to plug the unused port with a vacuum cap.

    My question on these Chinese knock-off carbs is whether a standard rebuild kit, like the Walker kit you have, will work with them. I notice you found right off that the power valve was different on the Chinese carb.

    I install the same carb on my 1969 mustang, but it is revving too high, I'm not sure what to do, the revs adjustment screw is not even touching the throttle linkage, I just installed it out of the box any help will be appreciated, great vid, thanks

      @@gandyhomegroup7252 yeah, the rods on the side of the choke where misplaced (it´s a little tricky), I also calibrated the screws for how much gas entered the carb

      You're right and it tricks the carb to run the jets fatter they get a good review but ruins mpgs and stumbles idle on hills and well not good, Chinese want it to work universal so that's what marketing I bet. Also it's up to the buyer to tune the carb anyhow for the rig they should have probably stated that right out of the box and threw in some instructions but never the case.

    Can't see squat half the time cause you're holding it up in the air and all were looking at is white paper towels. Duh... Look at your camera screen/monitor.
