Funnily enough if you were to reboot this series but set in the present, the ships would still look perfectly suitable which shows how good the design was.
That was (and is) amazing. No other words would describe it so well. It is as though it were made for the show. I remember Space: 1999 when it was shown the first time in the 1970s and it is still a great show - it could easily be remade (assuming we had good actors) with a great set of graphics like this. Thanks for posting.
This was fantastic. I fell in love with the show, well more accurately the Eagle back when I watched it as a kid way back when. There's so little quality fan stuff like this unlike Trek and Wars. I know I'm not the only one who'd love to see more.
Well done! i had the USS Enterprise and an Eagle model, decided to see which would win a fight, the Enterprise won and it took a lot of model glue to get both back together. Way it was in the 70's, now we have this
I used to build Eagle kits, weather them, make them look perfect and then blow them up with a combo of fireworks and turpentine!! Soooo much fun. Ahhh the 70's!!!
In Chinese, the name of the ship is translated into a word that's almost a pun for "fly" (as in common house fly), which makes sense since the head of the ship looks like the head of a house fly.
great job with this! Space 1999 really has a lot of potential for fan films, itd be nice to see more of them. Despite being made in the 70s, the tech has aged well and still looks good 50 years later....
@Jason Adank: Agreed. NASA was actually fascinated by the Eagle and had discussions with the Andersons about it. The Comlock was incredible and still holds up by today's standards (except for the screen being in black and white.) Gravity and other physics were treated with quite a degree of realism. The travel tube system to get around the base was cool as hell. And the underground Eagle maintenance and transport rails to the launch pads were fantastic. My only nitpick with the tech is that the computer stations printed everything out on paper. (Although they did do some cool data transfer scenes with comlocks and the occasional computer station.
After the woke virus dies, it would be nice to remake this series. Lots of potential, true, but not just with fan films. Before season2 it was actually extremely good and has aged very well.
@fatarsemonkey True. For the film cameras that they had to shoot with in the 70's, B&W was pretty much necessary for such a tiny screen to be seen clearly.
I love it! Thank you for keeping the dream alive. The scene with the eagles en route to the disposal area was perfection! So few people know about Space 1999. I recall going to the 2014 NY Comic Con wearing the eagle pilot's uniform (yellow sleeve). With an attendance of 140K people, only a handful of people recognized my outfit.
This made me imagine: if "Space: 1999" got the Remastered Star Trek Original Series treatment: CGI for Eagles in flight and planetary textures (as in this IMPRESSIVE video!), combined with the actual miniatures of buildings, vehicles on the lunar surface, Eagles landing, etc. (which - I can't help it - I still find to look more realistic). AWESOME job!
Great tribute. First there was Star Trek The Original Series. Later there was Babylon 5. But between both of them there was Space:1999, British sci-fi TV series created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson. Starring Martin Landau as Commader John Koenig, leader of Moonbase Alpha, and Barbara Bain as Dr. Helena Russel, Chief Medical Officer of Moonbase Alpha. One of the best sci-fi TV series in history, and still very underrated today. There was such innovative hardware on the show. For example, the Travel Tubes on Moonbase Alpha, and the Eagles, space shuttles that lifted up from Moonbase Alpha to explore alien planets. Not to mention the remote control electronic keys to open the doors on Moonbase Alpha equiped with small TV screens allowing communication between inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha, and finally communicators with small TV screens inside the Eagles and Moonbase Alpha. Space:1999 was very futuristic for its time and is still very futuristic today in this century, and this millenium. A remake as Space: 2099 and Space: 2199 would be fantastic, and why not as Space: 2999; imagine the future if humanity and space exploration at the edge of the year 3000 A.D.. And finally, why not a remake as Space: 9999? That's right! Let's imagine the far future of humanity and space exploration at the edge of the year 10000 A.D., at the end of the 100th Century, and the 10th Millenium! Until then, let's rewatch the adventures of the legendary inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha. It's always a pleasure to reeatch Space: 1999, a masterpiece and a classic of science fiction. I miss very much that show. I hope that CTV Sci-Fi Channel in Canada will rebroadcast that fantastic sci-fi TV series. I will probably buy the DVD boxes or better, the Blu-Ray boxes of both seasons of the TV series. I'd like to rewatch again and again Space: 1999. A Gerry and Sylvia Anderson production. An ITC production.
Wow, that is really first class work. Well done! It's a tribute to the show that it continues to inspire such loving tributes and I'll never get over how good the Eagles and the whole design aesthetic of Space 1999 was. Almost 50 years on it continues to excite and inspire.

Thanks for sharing this looks awesome. This show Aires when I was a 8 and I remember being fascinated when watching. Also....kudos to the shows ship designers for not putting any stupid wings and stuff on the eagles.
This was fabulous! Space 1999 is one of the most underrated gems of TV science fiction. And the Eagle, along with the X-wing from star Wars, continues to be my favourite sci-fi space crafts. The music and opening of the original Space 1999 is still awesome. The only ting that dragged the shows down was the ridiculous fashion design of the clothes. Good lord!! But everything else continues to stand the test of time. Thanks for giving me a smile on this blustery snow storm bound day here in Newfoundland Canada. Space 1999 forever! As a side note - NOT ANYWHERE near the same level is another Anderson creation UFO. It's laughable on all levels except the models and SFX. The Andersons knew how to shoot miniatures - no doubt. But Sylvia's fashion design in UFO are inSANE. The most cringe is the see-thru fishnet shirts for the male submarine crews. JEEEzuz! Wicked work you have done here... congrats!
When I was a kid watching UFO I used to get real close to the TV to try and figure out if the female submarine crew uniforms were also see through mesh.
@@mannydavis7708 Yeah, at one point a female submariner was sporting the fishnet without a bra. Cheeky Brits. Happened upon it when it was re-aired on cable tv in the 1990s.
BRAVO!!! I recently finished re-watching the show (yes, the second season as well!) and thought that for the most part the special effects held up. But you have shown me the error of my ways! I especially love the opening pan around and over the Eagle transporting Koenig to the Moon. Reminded me of the same move over the Klingon cruiser in the opening of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. 👏👏👏👏👏
You are a good observer... in fact in the scene of the Eagle traveling to the Moon I wanted to reproduce exactly that pan on the Klingon cruiser. Star Trek The Motion Picture is a film that I love.
Loved the sudden "shaky" zoom that gives you an impression of watching real footage instead of CGI, and the movement in the Eagle's shock absorbers as it landed. Well done!
WOW this blew my mind. just like when I was a young boy. Amazing work Thank You. I had that model. you took me back decades I was in AWE watching this.
Supreme! Amazingly wonderful respectful rendering of my favourite show - you clearly make apparent through your exact recreation of Johnson's Eagle design ... that ship still looks perfect & plausible to this very day! Really lovely to watch - especially the 'end titles'!
FANTASTIC !! This is awesome work. Loved that series......seeing evidence the moon is somewhat hollow, such a gigantic explosion probably could take the moon out of orbit.
Wonderful!! Truly beautiful recreation of the original - I never thought it could be improved upon, yet you've done it. Can I be greedy and ask for more ... maybe some 'War Games' ??? Thanks for sharing your magnificent work!!! From an Aussie 1999 fan.
Beautiful rendering of the most iconic scenes with the latest graphics. It made me a child again, at the time I was 7-8 years old! Unique note, although less spectacular and conforming to the original scenes, you could avoid the noises in the void! Anyway, keep up the good work!
Very well done! It looks like what the original show would have done if they had access to modern technology. Love the shot of the Moon leaving with the burning farside crater acting like an engine...
My youth is linked to two TV series that I will forever remember: Space 1999 and _The World at War_ which in Portugal was broadcasted under the title "Memories of our Time". In different senses, two superb series from a time when life was great and so much simpler.
Loved this show as a kid! Guess it will have to be SPACE 2999 for future fans. We fell well short of the technology by 1999 (just like the flying cars).
Excellent work! One thing I always missed in the series: the Eagle ion glow or particle effect at the rear, coming from the engine, the absence of the glow or jet always irked me, lol, it seems a bit unreal. Almost all the fans miss that part, remaking the absence of the engine glow, forgetting to add a jet that indicates the forward propulsion. Nevertheless, a great tribute.
Yes, unfortunately in the Space 1999 TV series we don't see engine glows, as we see in other films (such as in Star Wars for example). Of course it was due to the budget and television production times, in fact they could not use bluescreen but had to film the different elements against a black background on the same negative (always making sure that nothing overlaps.) Although I could easily add the engine glow, I however preferred to remain faithful to the aesthetics of the TV series.
@@poakwoods Thanks for the explanation. It's a pity though that you kept the faulty set, it would have been exciting with an engine update. Could you please make a short separate rendering (study) with some engine glow so that we old fans can see how it should look like with a correct FX? :-) I always missed that part of the Eagle, a big fat engine glow, lol.
@@AndreiTupolev But you NEVER see any nice exhaust gases in the show, never ever, I always thought it was a bit weak. They made those nice models...and never added ANY exhaust effect or even some lamps, lights, it ruined the impression. Everything was perfect when I watched the show, but they saved on this necessary FX, lol.
Good lord folks that was a thing of beauty! From the “Klingon” flyby homage at the start to the gorgeous space backgrounds you use throughout….. totally captured the unique style of the show while completely bringing the execution of the shots forward to the best of todays aesthetics and techniques. How this isn’t enough for a studio to see the utter appeal of this show today utilizing the same designs and look of the original would be hard to imagine. Absolutely love this! Great job all around.
I like your tribute to the series! I too saw Space 1999 at the age of 12 and I fell in love with the space craft designed models in each episode. The models were so cool back then and seeing then again today - just as awesome! It is too bad Gerry Anderson only produced 2 seasons of Space 1999. Yet it never stopped me from loving science fiction after that. So here is a tribute back for an excellent job on your 4D! 😃👍🖖😎 Thank you!
I grew up with Gerry Anderson's creative stories, from Stingray to Captain Scarlet, etc. I was a teenager when Space 1999 came out and I never missed a show 🙂 Great job recreating the fundamentals of the series! Including sounds in space, to make it as spectacular as we are used to from Hollywood 🙂 Kubrick (with scientific advice from Arthur C. Clarke) dared to show realistic space travel without sound or fighter jet maneuvers, both requiring relatively dense air to be possible, but it would be terribly boring for the youth of today.
Seeing this makes me hope for a remake of the breakaway episode. Seeing it done with good CGI instead of models could give the series infinite possibilities.
Really nice video. I love how you used very similar images of the Moon and other planets, along with Alpha, and combined all of this with the original Space: 1999 musical score. Gave it a great look and feel, like seeing the original show in high definition. One thing I've long wanted to see is a slight re-imagining of the Eagle spacecraft, with the nosecone indentations replaced with full flush viewports that the pilots would sit inside of, a la Space Ship One, for radically improved visibility and space efficiency in the command module. Also, it would be great to see Alpha re-imagined by showing it residing in the bottom of a large lunar underground lava tube. It would make more sense down there, where it would be naturally shielded from solar radiation, solar particle wind, meteors and cosmic rays.
Just love it. It reminds me of my childhood. I used to record every episode on kassette, and afterwards hear it 😊😊 i even build the entire moonbase and Eagls in LEGO it meant the world to me ❤❤
Me too! Me too! I recorded the episodes on audio tapes and then played them again and again... And then I built the Airfix model kit of the Eagle... What memories!

Une des meilleures série de science-fiction pour l'époque .
This show has aged really well. Thank you for making this.
Excellent work!
The Eagle is one of my all time favorite scifi space craft. As a kid I had a model of it and several die cast toy versions.
I suspect George Lucas HATED the Eagle... Forced him to redo his movie's main starship because it was too similar!
I loved this show and UFO when I was a kid, as much as Star Trek. Thanks for making this!
A great job, about the 1st sci-fi series I loved!
Happened upon it when it was re-aired on cable tv in the 1990s.
... almost fully agree with you except for one thing: the season 1 costumes were FABULOUS!!!
@@poakwoods >>> I noticed that connection to *ST: TMP* as well...👍
Brave man sitting through season 2 again: bloody Freddie Frieberger, murderer of Victor and Paul !!!
Loved the sudden "shaky" zoom that gives you an impression of watching real footage instead of CGI, and the movement in the Eagle's shock absorbers as it landed. Well done!
Glad you noticed these details. They take time but add so much to the CG quality. Thank you!
WOW this blew my mind. just like when I was a young boy. Amazing work Thank You. I had that model. you took me back decades I was in AWE watching this.
Great work, Looked amazing
Supreme! Amazingly wonderful respectful rendering of my favourite show - you clearly make apparent through your exact recreation of Johnson's Eagle design ... that ship still looks perfect & plausible to this very day!
Really lovely to watch - especially the 'end titles'!
İt was a legendary series that was way ahead of its time.
Nice homage!! 👍
Excellent. Simply excellent. I truly enjoyed this. Thank you for all of the work that was put into this creation.
I loved it in my youth and I still love it now!!!
☝🏻🌗✨🚀🛰✨🌍✨☄️
great job ! A beautiful and awsome recreation of my all time favorite science fiction show.
Nicely done indeed.
Wow very well done! I think you did a great job capturing the "feel" and "tone" of the show too. Keep up the good work!
100% agree!
My favorite show growing up. Fantastic tribute! Well done!
Amazing work!
FANTASTIC !! This is awesome work. Loved that series......seeing evidence the moon is somewhat hollow, such a gigantic explosion probably could take the moon out of orbit.
Amazing!!! Italian television RAI2 is transmitting it once again. Back to my childhood
Amazing work!! I used to watch Space 1999 back when it was on tele and what you have done is spot on!!!!
Really enjoyed the scene of the eagle flying from earth to the moon was a fantastic shot. Well done!
Nicely done. I hope to see more!
Space 1999 was my first SF movie, I loved :) Great memories
One of the best and most forward thinking SciFis ever. What an advance in a decade since thunderbirds!
War eine super Serie, die meine Kindheit prägte. Denke werde sie mir irgendwann wieder ansehen.
Outstanding! Firmly believe that one day Space 1999 will reappear on our screens. I just hope they are able to do it justice!
Just like I remember.....
...Only better !!!
Great job matching the mood and style too !
Beautiful....., love a lot the original tv series...!!!
Class work !!
çocuklugumda bütün bölümlerini soluk almadan heyecanla seyretmıstım.mukemmel diziydi..
Superb, loved space 1999 when I was a kid, and it's still got a place in my heart 👍
Grazie! É stata una faticata ma anche un gran divertimento!
Very well done! It looks like what the original show would have done if they had access to modern technology. Love the shot of the Moon leaving with the burning farside crater acting like an engine...
You are really talented. Loved Space: 1999 in my teens and now in my 60s
well done, my friend. Just rewatched the entire series.
La serie me gustaba. Me llama la atención la fecha, que está ya muy superada.
Los creadores tenían una visón muy optimista del progreso.
Gracias.
My youth is linked to two TV series that I will forever remember: Space 1999 and _The World at War_ which in Portugal was broadcasted under the title "Memories of our Time". In different senses, two superb series from a time when life was great and so much simpler.
Superb!
I remember I really celebrated september 13, 1999 some 25 years ago... that series was cult when I was a teenager.

Thanks for the explanation. It's a pity though that you kept the faulty set, it would have been exciting with an engine update.
Could you please make a short separate rendering (study) with some engine glow so that we old fans can see how it should look like with a correct FX? :-) I always missed that part of the Eagle, a big fat engine glow, lol.
Well, the engines would be shut down once it had reached translunar cruising speed, so it's quite correct
@@AndreiTupolev
But you NEVER see any nice exhaust gases in the show, never ever, I always thought it was a bit weak. They made those nice models...and never added ANY exhaust effect or even some lamps, lights, it ruined the impression. Everything was perfect when I watched the show, but they saved on this necessary FX, lol.
Bonitos recuerdo una gran serie
Good lord folks that was a thing of beauty! From the “Klingon” flyby homage at the start to the gorgeous space backgrounds you use throughout….. totally captured the unique style of the show while completely bringing the execution of the shots forward to the best of todays aesthetics and techniques. How this isn’t enough for a studio to see the utter appeal of this show today utilizing the same designs and look of the original would be hard to imagine. Absolutely love this! Great job all around.
“Klingon” flyby homage? what do you mean by this? I don't see it.
I preferred season 1.
Cool!!!
Wow, that was amazing 😍
Great Work 👍🏻
Wow! Impressive!
Nice.
SUPER Job!!!
I have Always been an Eagle fan........ 'Space: 1999 - Eagle' fan, that is
🛰🚀🛸🌕🌙🌚🪐
I grew up with Gerry Anderson's creative stories, from Stingray to Captain Scarlet, etc. I was a teenager when Space 1999 came out and I never missed a show 🙂
Great job recreating the fundamentals of the series! Including sounds in space, to make it as spectacular as we are used to from Hollywood 🙂
Kubrick (with scientific advice from Arthur C. Clarke) dared to show realistic space travel without sound or fighter jet maneuvers, both requiring relatively dense air to be possible, but it would be terribly boring for the youth of today.
En España la echaron hace mucho tiempo y me encantaba, sobre todo la 1ª temporada, no he vuelto a verla, lastima
Really impressive. The SFX are truly amazing. It would be a great idea to make it into a feature movie.
que serie mas estupenda vi de niño
Holy crap! This is amazing! Always thought a movie should have been done. Perhaps it still can. Cheers!!
Special... special effects for "1999" And that sound. I never knew you could hear all that in the vacuum of space! Cool!
Most real and authentic thing I've ever seen
Great stuff 😎
Just love it. It reminds me of my childhood. I used to record every episode on kassette, and afterwards hear it 😊😊 i even build the entire moonbase and Eagls in LEGO it meant the world to me ❤❤
Me too! Me too! I recorded the episodes on audio tapes and then played them again and again... And then I built the Airfix model kit of the Eagle... What memories!
I had an Eagle model too. Wish I still had it. Loved that show.
It was a great show. Nicely done!
0:58 September 13th 1.999 was monday.
Eagle Transporters. Best sci-fi spacecraft ever.
Really beatiful! I'm still loving my Cinema 4D, too...
freakin epic!
It was Space 1999 that introduced me to the concept of "Orion Drives." Sheesh. Quite the brute force approach to space propulsion.
